When Clara and Ethan arrived at the event center, Damian was waiting in front of the building. He rushed to Clara's car the moment she parked but his face crumpled immediately he saw Ethan.

Damian had not expected that the Ex-CEO would be the one she called to save the day, now Ethan was going to make him look foolish.

“Mr. Vale,” he forced a smile.

Ethan scoffed. “Mr. Lillard, I am guessing the presentation was a little too complicated for your little brain to handle?”

Damian growled and clenched his fist in anger.

‘Son of a bitch! I thought we had gotten rid of him for good!’ he thought to himself.

“Did you say something?” Ethan asked with a cocky smile.

“No, welcome back… Sir.” Damian mumbled.

“Come on Ethan, enough with the drama. The investors are waiting.” Clara pushed.

“Of course, they are.” Ethan muttered.

“Here are the physical documents,” Damian said, handing him a file.

“That won't be necessary, in case you forgot, this is my project.” Ethan stated clearly before heading into the hall.

Damian gritted his teeth in annoyance but Clara held his arm to calm him.

“Let him be cocky all he wants, we just need him to secure the deal today, then we will show him his place.” She smirked.

Damian smiled upon hearing this. He couldn't wait; everything Ethan owns, including his wife, will soon belong to him!

Ethan walked into the room filled with impatient Investors who were about to storm off, but at the sight of him, the room fell silent.

Reporters rushed to him immediately as he made his way to the stage.

“Mr. Vale, is it true you are no longer CEO of the company? If so, what role do you play now?”

“This is your life's work, Mr. Vale. We have all seen how enthusiastic you are about it. Is there a reason you weren't here earlier today to do the presentation?”

“There are rumors about a fallout with your wife, is there any truth to this?”

Ethan ignored all of their questions and got up the stage, the moderator signaled everyone to be silent and then he began.

“Good morning everyone. First and foremost, I would like to apologize to you all for not being here earlier today, there were some circumstances causing that minor setback but we have it under control. I also want to thank you for being patient in the face of this crisis. Now with that being said, ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to the future!”

The crowd erupted in applause before he could even begin. Ethan Vale was the man of the moment, everyone knew it. His subordinates admired him, his competitors envied him, and the young were inspired by him.

“Before I begin, I want to ask you a simple question. How many of you live in a smart home? Lights that turn on by voice, doors that unlock with a fingerprint, thermostats that follow a schedule you set once and never change. Now let me ask you another question, how many of those systems actually understand you?”

The room fell silent, attention piqued.

“Today I am not here to show you another smart device, I am here to introduce an intelligence. The project is called Nexus Home OS!” he announced.

Ethan turned to the large screen which had just been lit at the mention of the project name.

“Nexus is the world's first self-evolving operating system for physical spaces. It's not an app or a gadget, it is an operating system – like a window or IOS– but for homes, offices, and entire buildings!”

“You are probably wondering, how is this different? Traditional smart homes are reactive. You tell them what to do, they wait, they obey, and if you forget to give instructions, they fail! But Nexus works differently, it observes, it learns, and it anticipates. Nexus does not wait for commands, it predicts intent!”

The crowd was drawn to his words as Ethan went ahead to explain in detail how the system works, from the connection to the operation. The crowd was thrilled by this amazing invention.

When he was done, it was time to take questions from the audience which was mixed with potential investors and reporters alike.

“Mr. Vale, this is no doubt a magnificent invention you have brought to life with your genius, but what happens if this system fails?” A male reporter asked.

A few heads nodded in support. Ethan smiled and walked forward with his hands in his pockets, he didn't hesitate or panic.

“It doesn't fail.” He stated confidently.

The man raised a brow. “You can't say that, Mr. Vale. Nothing is infallible.” He argued.

“You are right,” Ethan said evenly. “Hardware fails, humans fail, even systems fail when they are centralized.”

He tapped the tablet resting on the podium and the screen displayed something different.

“You see, Nexus is distributed. There is no single failure point,” he began, pointing to the diagram on the screen. “If one node fails, surrounding nodes compensate. If the core hub is damaged, the system degrades gracefully instead of collapsing. Security, power management, and access control operate independently.”

He turned back to face the man who had asked the question. “But if you are not satisfied with my response, let me reassure you. While it's not to be expected, if Nexus fails, be reminded that I built her, so I will fix her. You can call me Doctor Nexus!”

The crowd burst into cheers as they applauded him. The investors were satisfied by his presentation. While most of them didn't understand a word he said, the confidence with which he delivered that explanation assured them of the stability of the project.

Instantly they begin to pledge millions to the course and fight for exclusive benefits. Every investor wanted to make the best deals and as soon as possible, the whole staff of Valetech were pleased to witness this.

Ethan's dream and hard work had just paid off. With this project, their company will be sitting as the number one top earners in their profession in the whole country.

The biggest Tech Company in the country, and one man made it possible.

**

Later that night, Ethan packed his things from the hotel, ready to return home. He had overheard Clara discussing celebrating the successful deal tonight and he thought it would be with him at home, so he already ordered an expensive bottle of wine, thinking about the pleasures of the matrimonial bed.

But when he got home, his wife was nowhere to be found. He tried calling and she wouldn't answer. Ethan didn't want to believe it was happening again, he checked Damian's F******k post and his suspicion was confirmed.

His wife had gone out to celebrate with Damian Lillard instead of him, and she looked drunk in the photos.

Ethan was enraged, he immediately traced her phone location and it revealed she was at Damian's house.

Without wasting time, he jumped into his car and headed over there. The door was unlocked and the situation looked like they had gone inside in a hurry.

There were clothes and underwear trailing all the way to the bedroom, most he recognized belonged to his wife. Ethan felt his heart racing as he came closer, he didn't want to believe it but he could hear moans coming from the room.

In anger, he barged inside Damian's bedroom to find his wife having sex with another man. Damian Lillard was over his wife's naked body, thrusting into her.

“Clara!” He yelled as he froze on the spot.

They were shocked to see him and jumped off each other, hiding their nakedness in the sheets.

His heart shattered at the sight and his sight grew blurry. The woman he sacrificed everything for had just betrayed him.

But as if that wasn't bad enough, she got out of the bed with the bedsheet wrapped around her and walked to him, and the next second, she slapped him hard across the face.

“You bastard! How dare you barge in on us like that?” She yelled at him.

  • Donation Chaos

While they were sitting at the roadside stall, the quiet buzz of the evening was interrupted by the constant pinging of Donald’s phone. Someone in the "Class of 2016" group chat had tagged both of them, and the messages were already spiraling out of control."Ethan, look at this. • Damian’s deceit

Clara Kent's penthouse was a monument to modern opulence, covered with glass and cold marble from floor to ceiling. Inside, the scent of expensive bourbon filled the air.Damian Lillard was sitting on the plush velvet sofa, swirling a glass of amber liquid when Clara walked in. She was already dressed, her hair meticulously styled, jewelry glittering under the recessed lighting. She stopped behind him, placing a hand on his shoulder.“Damian? Why are you still sitting here in your robe?” she asked, her voice tinged with a mix of confusion and impatience. “The York Town University anniversary gala starts in a few hours. This is the biggest event of the year, honey. I’ve already secured three VIP tickets; one for you, one for me, and one for Sophie. We need to start moving.”Damian didn’t turn around. He let out a long, theatrical sigh and took a slow, deliberate sip of his drink. “I don’t think I’m going, Clara. You and Sophie should go ahead without me.”

Kara pulled back slightly, her hands resting on his chest with a frown on her face. "I was starting to think you’d decided the barbecue stall was more interesting than your own wife."Ethan smiled, brushing a stray lock of hair from her forehead. "Nothing is more interesting than you, Kara. I just had some things to settle."She stepped back, gesturing toward the open walk-in closet where three exquisite gowns were laid out. "Since you’re here, make yourself useful. The blue velvet, the midnight silk, or the silver lace?"Ethan walked over, his eyes scanning the fabrics. He pointed to the midnight silk. "The silk. It is more fitting for a powerful woman like you."Kara’s eyes brightened. She ran a hand over the fabric and nodded. "The silk it is." She said and then paused, realizing he was still in his casual clothes. "Why aren't you getting ready yet?""Kara, I have to take those tickets to Donald," Ethan said, turning toward the vanity.

  • What’s your identity?

Ethan and Donald walked away from the riverfront restaurant. They settled onto plastic stools at a roadside barbecue stall. It was 4:00 PM, and the air was thick with the savory, smoky scent of charred meat and cumin.Donald watched Ethan out of the corner of his eye as the older man casually ordered a round of skewers and two cold beers. The way Ethan moved; the absolute stillness in his posture, the lack of hesitation in his eyes, bothered Donald. It wasn't the behavior of a man who had been living on the streets."Ethan," Donald started, leaning his elbows on the greasy table. "I’ve been holding this back since this morning, but I can't keep it in anymore. Who are you, really? What exactly is your identity now?"Ethan didn't look up as he cracked open a beer. "I'm Ethan Vale. Your classmate and your brother." He said casually."Don't give me that," Donald pressed, his voice dropping into a serious, suspenseful tone. "I saw how you handled Jimmy
