Wallace went on the offense with a battle cry and an aggressive horizontal swing. Jennifer timed the attack perfectly. Before the chains could touch her, Jennifer cartwheeled to the right and landed in a crouching position. She sent a horizontal attack of her own.
However, unlike Wallace, she was aiming for his legs. The chain in her right-hand grazed Wallace's ankle. But before a full collision, he leapt into the air, letting her chains slice past. Jennifer, however, displayed amazing control of her weapons by pulling on the chain in her left hand, forcing it to snap back. This time Wallace was too slow, the chain wrapped around his left calf and locked onto itself. Before she could knock him off his legs, Wallace coiled his chains around his fists and attacked the chain around his leg. Jennifer's chain was separated into two pieces, one long and one short. The piece that was around Wallace's leg exploded into a cloud of black-orange smoke. Jennifer was knocked off balance, stumbling towards her opponent. Wallace leapt into the air, the smoke below rising and partially concealing him from Jennifer. Judging by the way she looked up, her eyes wide and searching before her, Jennifer couldn't see well. But from where I was sitting, I saw Wallace's weapons follow him in two wide arcs as he prepared to bring them like the reigns of a large beast. Jennifer yanked on her right chain and swiped up through the dispersing cloud. Her other chain was materializing from the point it had been broken. Wallace emerged from the smoke, streams of smoke trailing behind him like a crash-landing fighter jet. Jennifer covered her face with her forearms, bracing for impact with Wallace's knees. However, Wallace's weapons preceded their user and coiled around Jennifer's forearms. He flew overhead and landed behind her, his feet just a few inches from the white line. Behind him, Jennifer's arms were stretched out in a crucifixion-like pose. As if to give her time to process her defeat, Wallace paused… Then he pulled on his weapons, forcing the small girl onto her back. He stood up, his chains dispersing. He walked over to Jennifer and helped her up. "Good stuff Wallace. At least someone has been paying attention." said Mr. Hulio. "Jennifer, you see what I meant when I said initiating aerial combat successfully gives you an opportunity over your opponent?" "Yes sir." she said. She hobbled over to the bench, her hand on her back as she winced with each step. "Right, who's next?" There was only one question in my mind. Am I expected to learn that? *** After weapons training, we went for our History lesson. The classroom very spacious; however, I didn't let a large distance grow between Daniel and I. We walked to the back of the class. Daniel sat down but I just stood there. "Take a seat man." There was an empty chair next to his. "Doesn't this belong to someone?" "Nah bro, it's a first come first serve thing here." "Oh, well…Okay." The classroom filled slowly as students lazily occupied the chairs and desks. A middle-aged woman with a generous bosom run-walked into the classroom. She was the one I saw when Ms. Luceal gave me a uniform. Her coat fanned out behind her like a chicken attempting to fly. One of her hands was anchoring her hat while the other gripped a stack of books and paper. "Soooo sorry class! sorry for being late." "Morning Ms. Hernandez." Ms. Hernandez threw her papers and books on the desk. As she fanned herself, what I feared happened again. She looked at me and smiled. "And you're the new student I presume?" I said nothing as everyone turned in their seats and looked at me. This isn't doing anything to ease my anxiety. "Come up front and introduce yourself sweetie!" Maan… I rose from my seat and walked over to the front of the classroom. My heart was pounding in my chest and my ears were ringing. "My name is David Pakati." "Nice to meet you, David. My name is Ms. Hernandez and I'll be taking you for your first-year History class! Yaaay! Where are you from?" "Harare, Zimbabwe." "Ooh where is that now?" "It's in Africa." I noticed the lack of recognition on the multi-racial faces in front of me. "Wow, that's nice, very exotic indeed. You can take your seat Dave." I did. "Okay, so where did we leave off in the last lecture?" A physically fit guy with a crew cut blue hair raised his hand. "Yes, Soo Yung?" "We were about to move on the Kumlei Angwa's background." "Ah yes! Can you open your books to..." She flipped open one of the books on her desk, "Page 1145" "Uhmm..." Ms. Hernandez scanned the classroom, "David, why don't you read for us." Damn. Daniel handed me his textbook. “Kumlei Angwa was dubbed the father of the Blessed's Association.” The black and white picture next to his background was that of a middle-aged male with the usual coat and hat. “Angwa is said to have rejected being a Blessed wanting to be a priest instead. This sparked a sour relationship between him and his mother, a great-sword user. However, one day while praying at a grotto, Kumlei had an encounter with a Renchi that almost ended his life. According to his journals, this changed his beliefs and perception of life itself. He began training with his mother's weapon and quickly excelled in his fighting techniques. While on a mission in the veil against an S class Oklodopus, Angwa claimed that the Renchi killed him. However, he was brought back to life…” I was cut off by a sharp siren sound that penetrated the class. A large number of coats flew past the corridor window, boots sounding like a hail storm. I caught sight of Franny and Duke. “Oh my, must be a big one hey!” said Ms. Hernandez. “What’s going on?” I asked Daniel. “That siren is an alarm. It sounds off whenever a squad is deployed to go and take care of a Renchi.” “Come on now that's none of our business. Let us return to our lesson.” ordered Ms. Hernandez.

CHAPTER SIXTY-SIX
When he cleared his plate and reached for a napkin to wipe his mouth, King Fenn felt some sense of normalcy return to his mind. Of course, the unease he was feeling prior to the banquet wasn't caused by the execution.Been through so many of those I actually feel sleepy when I see one of these days...But the reason for the execution is what had been gnawing at him since the terrorists were caught the previous night. He had barely gotten a wink of sleep as he thought about it. It was the whole reason why he called for the meeting. He grabbed his chalice and took a swig of the honey and mint wine that was reserved for such occasions.Better than Golden Wine if you ask me.It complemented the pleasant aftertaste of the glazed turkey and Miyak broth that he had just devoured.“My king…”That was Tarrus. He was seated to Fenn's left, at one of the corners of the lengthy upper-level table. All the while through the post-execution feast, he couldn't stop remembering what had happened to Kry
CHAPTER SIXTY-FIVE
After the gore fest, there was a banquet. As the Governors and their children left the Trial Quad, Ilonah let her body move for her but her mind was far from the current situation. They crossed the grassy plains by a gold paved path bejeweled with red and green rubies that spelt out the prophecies and the Laws from the Artkium. When they entered the Castles reception area, Ilonah caught sight of something she had forgotten she needed to take a copy off. It was nailed to the extreme right wall behind a pane of glass. She reduced her stride, forcing the servants to also fall behind in a light trot. I dont feel any Twanfe laced to it…i just need to make sure no one sees me.After falling away from the rest of the group, she decided to stop in her tracks. She watched the group disappear behind the corner that led to the Kings Banquet hall. She realized that she was holding her breath this entire time. She turned her head,“Take this thing off of me.”The servants looked at eachother.“D
CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR
She didn't look at him directly, but she could feel her father's signature piercing gaze of disapproval forcing itself into the side of her head. From the extreme left of the platform rose Tarrus Gent, the Governor of Aguaron. He was a small man with a full head of shiny grey hair. He approached the podium and whispered projection before he made the introductory proceedings.“Welcome, my fellow Ozmathians.” he began,Ilonah never liked Governor Gent. He was as small and as slimy as a swamp Slimikus. He had this permanent smile and a lazy gaze that made it feel like he was constantly thinking about how much better he was than everyone else. She was certain that he was up to no good; she didn't doubt the rumours. It was one of the few things that she actually agreed on with her father. She cast a glance towards the King. Even Fenn didn’t seem interested in Gent’s company. But that observation was nullified by the fact that Tarrus was basically the most powerful Ozamthian after the king.
CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE
The carriage rolled to a stop as it arrived at the capital's southeastern gate.Ilonah was woken up by the sound of salutations from the Holy Guard soldiers posted at both flanks of the giant golden entrance. The statues of Trenax and Yog shimmered in the mid-morning sunlight as it reached the packed streets of Aguaron.Usually, and ironically, the largest city in Ozmath wasn't this busy. But nationwide announcements that covered the entire Ozmath made sure that even the fifth Inka in Fii knew that all the important Ozmath were going to be present in the capital on the third sun cycle of the eigth full cycle of the 2025th completion.Merchants held up their goods energetically as they noticed the governor’s sigil on Ilonah’s carriage. They probably think its father in here right now…She cracked open the window to just give a teaser of her face. This was something she regretted instantly because when they noticed that it was a woman, the perfume, textile, and jewellery merchants snat
CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO
When she woke up, the first thing that Ilonah decided to take care of was the odour radiating off of her. She rose from the green-stained carpet and pushed past the double doors of the closet. As expected, Afina was already going to work on her somewhat messy bedroom. “Morning, Priestess,” said the petite slave while bowing slightly.Ilonah had stopped responding to Afina and the other domestics at the estate years ago. She had tried to tell them several times that they didn't have to greet her every single time they ran into each other (which was nearly every 30 ticks). It made her feel awkward to be greeted and borderline revered by Ozmathians that looked exactly like she did.“I spilt some juice in the closet,” said Ilonah as she remembered the stain from the liquified crystal. She reached for her towels and made her way to the bath.“Let me take care of that, my esteemed priestess.”She rolled her eyes as she entered the crystalline room and shut the door behind her.I wonder wh
CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE
Ilonah’s father scanned her from top to bottom.“Hmmmm, coming from somewhere?”She cleared her throat as she walked over to her partially open closet and threw in the dirty boots. She shut the mirrored doors, looking at her father’s amused yet angry expression through the former.“I had gone for a walk in the vineyard Father,” she said while looking more at herself than at her father. He bent down, breathing heavily from effort as he did so. He pinched a piece of dirt from her carpet.“Hmmm,” he said as he brought the dirt closer to his eyes and analysed it.“This doesn’t look like the sandy soils that belong to my vineyard…”Shit…Ilonah shut her eyes and looked down.“I'm sorry, Father,” she said.“Sorry for being caught or sorry for going to Gen and mixing with the lower Inka?”She pondered on that question longer than necessary. She knew it was coming. Since she was a kid, her father always used to ask her what she was truly sorry for every time she apologised. He never laid his
