Wallace went on the offense with a battle cry and an aggressive horizontal swing. Jennifer timed the attack perfectly. Before the chains could touch her, Jennifer cartwheeled to the right and landed in a crouching position. She sent a horizontal attack of her own.

However, unlike Wallace, she was aiming for his legs. The chain in her right-hand grazed Wallace's ankle. But before a full collision, he leapt into the air, letting her chains slice past.

Jennifer, however, displayed amazing control of her weapons by pulling on the chain in her left hand, forcing it to snap back. This time Wallace was too slow, the chain wrapped around his left calf and locked onto itself. Before she could knock him off his legs, Wallace coiled his chains around his fists and attacked the chain around his leg. Jennifer's chain was separated into two pieces, one long and one short. The piece that was around Wallace's leg exploded into a cloud of black-orange smoke. Jennifer was knocked off balance, stumbling towards her opponent.

Wallace leapt into the air, the smoke below rising and partially concealing him from Jennifer.

Judging by the way she looked up, her eyes wide and searching before her, Jennifer couldn't see well. But from where I was sitting, I saw Wallace's weapons follow him in two wide arcs as he prepared to bring them like the reigns of a large beast.

Jennifer yanked on her right chain and swiped up through the dispersing cloud. Her other chain was materializing from the point it had been broken. Wallace emerged from the smoke, streams of smoke trailing behind him like a crash-landing fighter jet. Jennifer covered her face with her forearms, bracing for impact with Wallace's knees. However, Wallace's weapons preceded their user and coiled around Jennifer's forearms.

He flew overhead and landed behind her, his feet just a few inches from the white line. Behind him, Jennifer's arms were stretched out in a crucifixion-like pose. As if to give her time to process her defeat, Wallace paused…

Then he pulled on his weapons, forcing the small girl onto her back. He stood up, his chains dispersing.

He walked over to Jennifer and helped her up.

"Good stuff Wallace. At least someone has been paying attention." said Mr. Hulio.

"Jennifer, you see what I meant when I said initiating aerial combat successfully gives you an opportunity over your opponent?"

"Yes sir." she said.

She hobbled over to the bench, her hand on her back as she winced with each step.

"Right, who's next?"

There was only one question in my mind.

Am I expected to learn that?

***

After weapons training, we went for our History lesson.

The classroom very spacious; however, I didn't let a large distance grow between Daniel and I.

We walked to the back of the class. Daniel sat down but I just stood there.

"Take a seat man."

There was an empty chair next to his.

"Doesn't this belong to someone?"

"Nah bro, it's a first come first serve thing here."

"Oh, well…Okay."

The classroom filled slowly as students lazily occupied the chairs and desks.

A middle-aged woman with a generous bosom run-walked into the classroom. She was the one I saw when Ms. Luceal gave me a uniform. Her coat fanned out behind her like a chicken attempting to fly.

One of her hands was anchoring her hat while the other gripped a stack of books and paper.

"Soooo sorry class! sorry for being late."

"Morning Ms. Hernandez."

Ms. Hernandez threw her papers and books on the desk. As she fanned herself, what I feared happened again.

She looked at me and smiled.

"And you're the new student I presume?"

I said nothing as everyone turned in their seats and looked at me.

This isn't doing anything to ease my anxiety.

"Come up front and introduce yourself sweetie!"

Maan…

I rose from my seat and walked over to the front of the classroom. My heart was pounding in my chest and my ears were ringing.

"My name is David Pakati."

"Nice to meet you, David. My name is Ms. Hernandez and I'll be taking you for your first-year History class! Yaaay! Where are you from?"

"Harare, Zimbabwe."

"Ooh where is that now?"

"It's in Africa."

I noticed the lack of recognition on the multi-racial faces in front of me.

"Wow, that's nice, very exotic indeed. You can take your seat Dave."

I did.

"Okay, so where did we leave off in the last lecture?"

A physically fit guy with a crew cut blue hair raised his hand.

"Yes, Soo Yung?"

"We were about to move on the Kumlei Angwa's background."

"Ah yes! Can you open your books to..."

She flipped open one of the books on her desk,

"Page 1145"

"Uhmm..."

Ms. Hernandez scanned the classroom,

"David, why don't you read for us."

Damn.

Daniel handed me his textbook.

“Kumlei Angwa was dubbed the father of the Blessed's Association.”

The black and white picture next to his background was that of a middle-aged male with the usual coat and hat.

“Angwa is said to have rejected being a Blessed wanting to be a priest instead. This sparked a sour relationship between him and his mother, a great-sword user. However, one day while praying at a grotto, Kumlei had an encounter with a Renchi that almost ended his life. According to his journals, this changed his beliefs and perception of life itself. He began training with his mother's weapon and quickly excelled in his fighting techniques. While on a mission in the veil against an S class Oklodopus, Angwa claimed that the Renchi killed him. However, he was brought back to life…”

I was cut off by a sharp siren sound that penetrated the class. A large number of coats flew past the corridor window, boots sounding like a hail storm. I caught sight of Franny and Duke.

“Oh my, must be a big one hey!” said Ms. Hernandez.

“What’s going on?” I asked Daniel.

“That siren is an alarm. It sounds off whenever a squad is deployed to go and take care of a Renchi.”

“Come on now that's none of our business. Let us return to our lesson.” ordered Ms. Hernandez.

"Enjoy yourself, Priestess." Ilonah ignored Baramew. Normally, she didn't take kindly to slaves being sarcastic. But he was one of the few who knew how she felt about the king. He'd covered for her a lot of times after she'd come late from meeting Sleign and or the revolutionaries. The king's court was ornately decorated with celebratory green and chrome. Servants lined both sides of the golden bridge that led to King Fenn's castle entrance. She was greeted by several Ozmath. Most she'd met at dinners, ceremonies and or sacrifices. Others she barely paid attention to. Of course, the lower the Inka the more vigorous the greeting. She was sure she caught a fat woman with a yellow Ajun falling to her knees. She was used to it now. But it didn't sadden her sometimes when she thought about it. Did anyone actually like her for her? Or did they just want to be in good graces with a God Priest/Governors first child and daughter? I know Sleign loves me for me. He's said it too

  • CHAPTER FIFTY-SIX

I smoked a bit more than usual that night. Maybe it was because I was alone…Jax was up to God knows what (definitely involving a girl since he just up and vanished.)I knew it may have been overkill since I coughed up a thick glob of phlegm. My throat was also hot and scratchy.Since the meeting with the Council had ended, I couldn't place my mind on anything else besides what had been talked about. The voice was also surprisingly quiet ever since it answered Frost’s question about what I thought. Maybe it was lost in the muddled flood that was my state of mind. After dispersing from the Haven, I walked at the fringes of a group consisting of some of the captains that had some business at the academy. Everyone else in the administration simply headed to their quarters, which were just five minutes away.A lot was troubling me. I would never admit it, but there was more than ‘fun’ to the smoking and the drinking. It made me feel normal. I wasn't always thinking about how I fucked up

  • CHAPTER FIFTY-FIVE

Amero looked at Ms Luceal.“I hope you’re taking down the minutes…”She held up a black leather-bound diary with a golden Blessed logo on the cover in one hand and a black and gold pen in the other.“Good then, let's get to it.”Everyone immediately raised their hand.“Yes, Professor Kajulu.”My Renchiology lecturer rose swiftly from his chair.“My sentiments do not change concerning David. I propose that the Director grant the science department full clearance and autonomy in the direction of carrying out safe and regulated tests on the boy.”Disgruntled noises vibrated across.“What?” ejaculated Mr Kajulu, “Clearly this is a scientific phenomenon that requires careful and professional study. I’m sure that we will make headway and come across groundbreaking discoveries…”“We?”The challenger was a slender woman with three parallel scars diagonally across her face. She was the captain of the C Squad. She was also a staff user. I had no idea who she was, and I doubt I had ever seen he

  • CHAPTER FIFTY-FOUR

"So how many times have you guys done it now?""Bro..." I said as I sharply inhaled the DT,"One session is like six times; to be honest, I don't even know anymore."I blew out smoke from my nose."You're a damn dog, I'll tell you that."Jax and I fist bumped before we helped each other with the sack of leftovers into the dumpster. This time we didn't walk quite as leisurely on our way back to the academy. It had been a couple of days since it happened, but I could still feel the distant sting of Wish’s slap...“We have to smoke again before bedtime.” I said.“For real?” said Jax, He looked at me and chuckled.“You look like you’re good for the night, though.”Jax slowed his step and looked around in paranoia.Apparently (according to him), during his last escape, Jax hid himself behind one of the display cabinets in the hallway. Ever since then he was avoiding the Head Boy wannabe. We entered the first year’ respective study room. Just as I sat down, the door Jax had just closed beh

  • CHAPTER FIFTY-THREE

“I've never done this before,” said Atilia.I forced her to lie down on the makeshift bed from strangers dirty laundry. I had just grabbed a bunch of shirts, pants and coats and spread them on the laundry room floor. This time the door had to be locked. And just for extra measure, Jax was keeping guard outside.“Neither have I.”“Lies,” she whispered as I planted a deep kiss on her mouth.I used my thumbs to push down my pants and underwear at the same time.“There’s no way you’re a virgin…”She grabbed my dick and began rubbing it slightly. Her hand was rough and cold. But I was too horny to stop her.“Well, I’m about to take yours, that’s for sure.”I removed her hand and pressed it against the side of her head. I grabbed the base of my dick with my free hand and guided it slowly into her vagina. She was so wet that I slid inside perfectly. When I penetrated her fully, the warm and moist grip of her pussy sent waves through my body. With each stroke she gasped, and so did I.***We

  • CHAPTER FIFTY-TWO

“What? Is your friend deaf or something?”I looked to my left. It seemed like Jax had decided to ignore the reprimand and kept on walking. He was nearly at the end of the hallway.“Hey! You!”Asan began to jog. Jax broke out into a sprint around the corner.“The fuck…” hissed the Deputy Head Boy as he kicked up his own speed.Matt and I looked at each other. He wasn't all that much taller than me, but he was definitely bulkier. And more good-looking.“Where are you guys coming from at this hour?”“Didn't study just start?”“Yeah, like an hour ago.”“Shit…”“Answer the question.”“What?”“Are you trying to be difficult?”“Trying is a bit of a stretch…”He took an intimidating step forward.“Whoa, hold on, Chief!” I said, “We were helping Ms Luceal clean the DH, that’s all.”“Is that so?”I figured that he could probably smell the Jack and Mist on me. But I didn't have any on me, so I was cool.“Yeah.”“So why did your mate run then?”Because he has, like, two sachets of DT and half a b
