In Renchiology, we were to dissect an A class walker. On the silver tray before me was a slimy black blob with an uncountable number of finger-like legs. On top of it was a partially open bloodshot eyeball with a green and yellow iris. I poked at it with the blunt end of the small knife. Its legs twitched and flexed in a sickening motion.

Daniel was right, this was pretty gross.

Yet, morbidly cool at the same time. It looked like something out of an Edward Lee novel.

“Now, let’s turn over our specimens,” said Mr Kajulu.

He was a small man with square-shaped specs. I was probably because it was still the first lesson but he didn't seem quite as bad as Daniel made him sound. I liked him so far because he didn't seem to notice my presence which was a good thing.

Before I could slice open the jaundiced-coloured underbelly of the Renchi, a knock came at the door. It was a tall boy with long brunette hair. He was, and I say this in the most heterosexual way, quite attractive. He kinda looked like popular teen heartthrob Timothy Chalamet.

“Yes Connor, come in.”

As he entered the class I noticed that his badge was bronze which made him a prefect.

“Afternoon sir. David Pakati is wanted by the Director.”

***

When I arrived at his office, the Director was standing in front of the window.

The large tree with the red-green leaves was staring back at him.

"Take a seat," he said.

I sat on one of the two chairs opposite his.

He turned around.

"How's your first day so far?"

I couldn't think of any other word besides,

"Different."

The Director smiled. It was a warm and fatherly smile. Of course, I didn't identify it from firsthand experience. It looked like those smiles sitcom dads put on when their son or daughter learns a heartwarming family-friendly lesson at the end of the episode.

"Don't worry. By the end of the week, things won't seem so different."

I thought about my mother. Through my mind's eye, I saw her sitting on one of the big sofas in the lounge. She was watching the eight o'clock news with a cup of tea in her hands. It wasn't a random thought. She, too, always used to assure me that any problem that was bothering me at the time would cease to do so in due time.

Why was I here?

In this place. A place that didn't make sense to me. I should've been home, listening to my mother's stories about her childhood and her relationships with her relatives. I should've been at school doing my assignments. I should've been hanging out with Thomas...

Stay...

My hands were tense, fingers digging into my palms. They immediately loosened up.

"Now, I know you already told me what happened during the test. But I need you to repeat the last thing you saw," said the Director.

I told him about the blue beings being consumed by the red flame. About the destruction of their weapons and the formation of the double-edged axes.

"Is that all?"

I wanted to tell him about the voice...

Don't.

"Yeah"

The Director looked to the side. His brow crossed, and his eyes searched for something in the black wood of his desk.

"Well, as I said before, the test was to see which weapon you would be able to summon and master. According to what you're telling me, you're not only able to summon all five of the weapons, but you're also able to master a sixth weapon that I've never heard of nor witnessed"

I never liked standing out. At school, I made sure that I wore clothes that didn't announce my presence.

I spoke at a volume that didn't attract the attention of any passersby. In lectures, I always sat at the back of the room, never daring to ask questions even when I was lost.

But at that moment, I wasn't just a sore thumb, I was the whole hand. I had a newfound respect for celebrities whose I*******m pages were brimming with candid glimpses of their day-to-day lives.

"However, we want to see if that's the case, " said the Director

He bent down and opened one of the drawers, the bottom one judging by his angle. He emerged with a thin black rectangular box.

"That's why I called you here today."

“Don’t forget these.”Afiro left the clothing chamber with a mountain of furs and thick cowhidepants. Fenn caught the load before it fell on the floor. “This is just going to weigh me down,” he said as he just took two furs and one pair of pants.“Fii is not that cold this time of the total cycle.”Afiro picked up some more pants and nudged Fenn aside as she stuffed them in the large trunk.“I highly doubt that a place known as the Forest of Ghosts is warm and sunny, my king…”He chuckled at that.“Well, I’m sure this is enough.”He force-closed the trunk. He placed both hands on the black oak and whispered, 'Shrink.' The trunk shrank to the length of a cigarette and the thickness of a slice of bread.“So why were you talking about being weighed down?”He made way for her and gestured to the shrunken trunk.“Be my guest.”She laughed as she bent down and grabbed it with her thumb and index finger.“I know I’m petite, but not that…”She strained and grunted. The trunk didn't even move

Even the warmth of the library was not enough to chase out the chill. The cold of whatever the place he was transported to by that…creature had settled itself deep into his bones. He had left the upper floors and immediately descended to the library. Fenn crashed through the double doors and collapsed onto the carpet. His chest heaved and pumped as he lay on his back. “My king…” That was one of the two guards who were stationed at the Obsidian library entrance. “Close the door!” he barked. The guards immediately heeded his command. It was still nighttime, so the librarian, Genty, was still resting in his quarters. As he caught his breath and pushed himself onto his palms, he realised that he may have subconsciously sought out refuge in the library. Even as a child, when his father would attack him in a drunken fit of rage, he would run away and hide underneath Genty’s desk until his father fell asleep from too much Golden wine. He grabbed onto the edge of one of the long desks

  • CHAPTER SEVENTY-FOUR

Fenn was awoken by the sound of crashing glass. Reflexively, he rolled out of bed and whispered invisibility. When he was still in the Holy Guard, he was always good at implementing the ‘Enemy can’t attack what they can’t see’ tactic. But he was sort of disappointed to see that the cause of alarm was simply one of Afiro’s friends. The voluptuous maiden had knocked down the glass chalice that was on her side of the nightstand. The three maidens, Afiro included, were deeply embedded within a drunken slumber.Fenn sighed as he rose from his crouching position. He reached for his box of cigarettes and lit one. As he puffed, he looked back at Afiro. The conversation they had had a few cycles ago was constantly humming in the back of his mind.“Well, it seems like you’re relying on what other Ozmath have to say about everything.” He inhaled deeply and exhaled a thick orange cloud.“Why don’t you just find out what you’re not sure of by yourself?”He walked over to the chair where he had bu

  • CHAPTER SEVENTY-THREE

Fenn lifted Afiro off the ground and turned her around. He stuck his manhood in her and pounded on her tiny but firm buttocks aggressively. Her moans were soft, but the way she gripped the sheets with each stroke and the way she called him 'daddy' as he smacked her ass and played with her nipple showed that she truly was in a state of euphoria. When he felt the sweet and warm promise of release from deep within, he pinched her left bottom. She released herself from the penetration and spun around. She dropped herself to her knees before gripping Fenn’s moist and hard cock. She wrapped her lips around the tip and sucked while she jerked him off with her tiny but firm hand.“Fuuuuck!”Fenn ejaculated in her mouth. The green fluid oozed out of the corners of her mouth, but she didn't stop sucking. Not until she had forced out every last drop of semen.Fenn pushed her to the side and collapsed on the bed.He heaved heavily as Afiro joined him on the bed and placed her head on his chest.

“Today’s scripture comes from the 667th book of the Arktium.”Fenn raised the large gold-threaded tome and held it up above the gold and clay podium for the congregants to see.“Composed by the Old Prophet Yog, the one called by our Creator Ozmath, the Father of the Cult and the Lawmaker.”Fenn brought down the book onto the podium. He made the sign of reverence and kissed both pages of the scripture.“And so in those days,” he began while whispering with projection so that everyone in the Capital’s Worship Place could hear him. It’s only now that he realised that that act actually took more energy than he thought. He did every single seventh cycle, but he never put in as much effort as he is doing now.“The prophet Yog met Tog, his ancestor who had lived during the old times, the times before the war…”He caught sight of Tarrus whispering to Vemto. Vemto smirked and nodded. Tarrus pulled his robes together before fixing his posture and repaying his attention.“And Tog said, ‘Let it b

  • CHAPTER SEVENTY-ONE

“During the Old times,” vibrated a deep, wise and elderly voice.“The Humans rose in an attack from their side of the Earth…”From a dark spot on the stage, to the right, emerged four teenage boys (about 15 or 16 total cycles), dressed in human clothing.“Arrgh! Let us plunder and destroy the peace and tranquillity enjoyed by the Ozmath and spit in the face of their God!”“Hoooraahh!” said the other humans in agreement. The group produced human weapons. Three of them had rusty and jagged machetes, while the leader had a spear made from black wood for its length and a rusty butcher knife tied to the end.The light cast by the stone face above swept across to the extreme left of the stage. From the darkness emerged a large and muscular teen dressed in a humble brown cloak. He raised his hands behind his back, and within them formed a three-pronged hoe. On the portion of the stage before him formed hard, untilled soil. The teen struck the earth with one heavy strike. Fragments of earth a
