The morning air carried the gentle scent of damp earth and blooming flowers as Jasper Stoneheart walked down the familiar garden path. A wooden watering can rested comfortably in his hand, and he tipped it forward with steady care, listening to the soft splash of water soaking into the rich soil.

To anyone watching, he looked like an ordinary young man enjoying a peaceful morning.

Well… almost.

A thick strip of black silk covered his eyes, tied firmly around his head. Faint glowing patterns lay hidden beneath the folds of the fabric.

"Six years…" Jasper muttered, his voice barely louder than the rustling leaves. "It has already been six years since I transmigrated."

He paused for a moment and rested the watering can against his leg. In his previous life, he had lived under the blinding lights of fame as a celebrity. He remembered the roaring applause, the flashing cameras, and the endless fake smiles. He also remembered the cruel scandal that destroyed everything.

It wasn't even his fault.

He had spent his final days desperately trying to clear his name, but he lost against a lie that spread far faster than the truth. Then he died.

When he opened his eyes again, the cameras were gone. Instead, he found himself inside the world of a web novel he had read from beginning to end. Luckily, he knew the story by heart. He knew which people would rise to greatness, who would betray whom, and which places would turn into rivers of blood. Most importantly, he knew what happened to anyone who stood in the main characters' way.

He had no interest in becoming someone else's stepping stone. Fame had already killed him once, and he refused to let a novel do the same.

This time, all Jasper wanted was a peaceful life—a normal one, the kind he never got to have before. So the moment he realized where he was, he ran.

Without a second thought, he left the Starfall Continent behind and abandoned the powerful Stoneheart Clan. He already knew how their story ended. Sooner or later, a terrifying force would tear the continent apart: the General Queen of Death, the Empress of the Asterion Kingdom.

Rather than wait for disaster, Jasper crossed the sea and fled to the Southern Continent. According to the novel, it was nothing more than an empty corner of the world, a place the story never touched. It seemed like the perfect hiding spot.

The journey had been anything but easy. It was filled with monsters, bandits, and countless life-and-death battles. Even now, thinking back on it made his body ache. Still, he survived.

And when he finally arrived, he found exactly what he had been searching for—peace.

He married into an ordinary family that no one had ever heard of and happily became a live-in son-in-law. His wife was beautiful, gentle, and kind. Together they had a lovely daughter named Mirabel, who was already five years old.

To make sure no one ever connected him to his past, Jasper sealed away both his eyesight and his spiritual sense beneath the black silk wrapped around his eyes. To everyone else, he was nothing more than a helpless blind man.

A soft smile spread across his face as he watered another row of flowers. He didn't mind living in darkness. He was safe. He was happy. And with each passing day, he grew closer to breaking through to his next cultivation realm in complete secrecy.

Hiding himself away had easily been the best decision of his—

BAM!

The heavy wooden gate burst open with enough force to make its old hinges groan. Jasper didn't flinch, but his shoulders tensed slightly. Even with his sight and spiritual sense sealed, his hearing remained sharp. Every sound within a hundred meters reached him with perfect clarity.

He quickly picked out a pair of hurried footsteps racing toward him.

"Master Jasper!"

Gwen rushed into the garden, breathing hard. She wore a pale blue robe embroidered with a white narcissus across the chest—the uniform of the household servants.

Although Jasper couldn't see her expression, he could easily hear the nervousness hidden beneath her cheerful voice.

"Oh, Gwen," he said warmly as he turned toward her. "What has gotten you so worked up?"

She stopped in front of him and took a quick breath. "Mistress sent me to check on you. She wanted to know if you needed anything."

"I'm perfectly fine." Jasper reached out with practiced ease and gently pinched her cheek. It felt soft beneath his fingers. He couldn't help smiling to himself. The Storm family really was well-off for a countryside household—even their maids were this pretty.

For the past three years, Gwen had told him the same story over and over, and he had never doubted a word of it. As far as he knew, he was living in a tiny, forgotten place called Fairhaven Village. A quiet little village whose name perfectly matched the peaceful life he wanted.

"Master, stop bullying your maid," Gwen puffed out her cheeks and swatted his hand away, though there wasn't the slightest bit of real anger in the gesture.

Jasper chuckled. "Alright, alright. I won't tease you anymore." He adjusted the watering can and asked, "So, what actually brought you here? You sound nervous."

Gwen hesitated for a second. "Mistress wants to see Lady Mirabel. She asked me to bring her inside."

Jasper's expression softened. "My little girl is inside playing near the hearth." He pointed toward the house. "Go ahead."

"Thank you, Master!"

Without wasting another second, Gwen hurried inside. Jasper simply returned to watering his flowers, listening to the soft trickle of water soaking into the earth. A quiet sense of satisfaction settled over him.

He had escaped. He had left the story behind. He had outsmarted fate and built a peaceful home where nothing from the novel could ever reach him.

At least… that's what he believed.

He had no idea that the world-ending story he had spent six years running from wasn't waiting across the sea. It was right beneath his feet.

Jasper wasn't hiding away in some forgotten farming village. He was living at the very heart of the greatest empire in the world. His gentle, beautiful wife… was its feared Queen. And the peaceful kingdom he believed was nothing more than an empty corner of the map… was the very empire the protagonist would one day reduce to ashes.

A gentle warmth spread through Jasper's chest, slowly flowing into every part of his body. For the first time, he truly understood the power of this world. It wasn't just about swinging a sword. It was about understanding the truth behind it.His eyes drifted back to the parchment lying before him."The river does not resist." "The river does not chase." "It flows because flowing is its nature."Before entering the Still Water Realm, those words had sounded like meaningless poetry. Now… they were a guide. Most beginners tried to force spiritual energy into their bodies. They pulled at the Qi around them with everything they had, trying to cram it through their meridians by sheer will. That was why so many failed. Broken meridians, unstable foundations and permanent injuries. The Silent River Breathing Method took a completely different path. A quiet river never chased the water flowing toward it. It simply remained still. And because it remained still… everything naturally flowed in

  • Chapter 6 The Still Water Realm

Jasper sat cross-legged on the woven straw mat as the faint light from the stone chamber stretched long shadows across the walls. Before doing anything else, he summoned the familiar blue screen. Something had been bothering him ever since he received the system. It had claimed his Mind Sea had awakened, yet his status said otherwise.```[The Blind Sovereign System]Host: Jasper StoneheartPhase: Mortal PhaseRealm: NoneMind Sea Realm: NoneStrength: 2 Speed: 2 Stamina: 2 Agility: 2 IQ: 2Techniques: None```Jasper frowned. "That doesn't make sense." The words [Mind Sea Realm: None] remained on the screen, refusing to change. He stared at them for several seconds before letting out a quiet sigh.If I'm going to survive, I need to understand exactly what I'm dealing with.In the cultivation novels he used to read, a cultivator could enter their own Mind Sea and witness it with their own eyes. Following that thought, Jasper reached out and tapped the words Mind Sea Realm. The wor

Jasper walked to the center of the patriarch's study, his boots clicking softly against the marble floor before he came to a stop. His father sat behind a massive desk, completely focused on the mountain of documents before him.An ironwood brush glided across parchment in smooth, practiced strokes, never once slowing. He didn't acknowledge Jasper's arrival, allowing the silence to stretch until it became almost unbearable.Only after finishing the final line did he set the brush down. The tip tapped lightly against the porcelain inkstone, breaking the silence. The room itself reflected the man who ruled it. Tall shelves lined every wall, packed with jade tablets and old leather-bound scrolls.A bronze incense burner rested in one corner, filling the air with the bitter scent of sandalwood that clung to Jasper's clothes.Jasper lowered his gaze, quietly studying the man who now held complete control over his life. The Patriarch of the Stoneheart Clan looked old, but not weak. His age

  • Chapter 4 The Crimson Queen

Jasper had spent enough time beneath the flashing lights of his past life to learn a few hard truths. The higher you climb, the harder you fall. Every high has its bitter low. Luck, in his experience, never stayed for long. It was like a predator that fattened its prey before moving in for the kill. His gaze remained fixed on the translucent blue screen hovering before him. The final ability of the black blindfold waited silently at the bottom of the list. Even after seeing Void Perception and Silent Cultivation, Jasper wasn't foolish enough to believe such overwhelming power came without a price. Those two abilities alone were already enough to change a person's fate.Still… in a world where the weak existed only to be stepped on, taking risks wasn't a choice. It was survival.Jasper had never believed in the romantic stories people told about strength. Whether it was Earth or this cultivation world, the rules never really changed. The strong ruled. The weak suffered. People hid t

  • Chapter 3 Eye of the Void

"Young Master?" Chris's gentle voice pulled Jasper back to reality. "You've been quiet for quite a while. Is your head hurting again?"Jasper blinked and let out a slow breath. "I'm alright." He rubbed the back of his neck. "I just needed a moment for everything to settle."Chris and Victor exchanged worried looks. Neither of them looked convinced."We should return to your courtyard," Chris said as he steadied Jasper by the arm. "You've taken a hard blow to the head. You need proper rest."Victor nodded quickly. "Yes, Young Master. Please don't push yourself."Jasper didn't argue. He allowed the two attendants to support him as they slowly left the training grounds. The estate stretched out before them with stone paths winding through carefully tended gardens and elegant pavilions standing beneath sweeping tiled roofs. Servants moved quietly through the courtyards, each busy with their own duties.Jasper took everything in. This wasn't a dream. He had truly entered another world. As

Jasper stood motionless in the middle of the dusty training arena. The world around him felt distant, as though he were watching it through a layer of fog. His head pounded with every heartbeat while the last fragments of another person's memories slowly settled into place. On either side of him, two robed attendants held his arms to keep him from collapsing."Young Master, breathe," the older man said as he tightened his grip. "Can you hear me?"Jasper barely noticed him. His thoughts were a tangled mess. Who am I now?Almost as if answering his question, the memories began to fall into place. Jasper Stoneheart.
