A shrieking sound pierced through the air. A sharp high pitched female voice. Fast breaths, accelerated hearts. Fear clung to the air like a weave of threads.
“ Let ..me go!” Lila barked.
Slap slap slap.
Three slaps landed on her cheeks one after the other, brutal and painful. Her cheeks burned, her eyes stinging from the impact.
“ Bitch. You fucking slut. How dare you raise your voice at me?” The bulky man yelled, his voice bounced onto the thick walls and bounced back, each word reverberating through her.
Freya shivered at the side, her head lowered, she didn't dare make a sound, not even a whimper.
Lila sneered, slut? Her, a Blackwell's heiress was dared called a slut? By a mere standing guard!
“ You would regret this” she bit out, word for word.
The bulky man kicked her in the stomach, making her throw up instantly. Her face went pale as strings of sweat appeared on her face.
“ Enough” a sharp intimidating voice rang out. Heels clinked on the marble, the stench of blood hovering in the air. “ The boss wants them alive,” Eleanor added, walking towards Lila. Her lashes flickered a bit then slowly replaced with a distant gaze.
The bulky man hesitated, his cold gaze fixed on the woman before him.
“ Leave” Eleanor gritted out, her hands clutching on her dagger.
The man saw that as a tip to leave. He reluctantly nodded, passed Lila a death stare and walked away.
When the iron door was banged close, Eleanor's distant expression faltered, “ Lila..” she croaked, her voice trembling.
“ Are ..you okay?” She asked and Lila let out a bitter smile.
Was she Okay? What stupid question was that? Did she look okay?
“ Of course I'm okay, don't you see how well dressed and seated I am? with marks of blood decorating my skin. Isn't it pretty?” She said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Eleanor pressed her lips together, lowering her head, “ I …I will try to drop some hints for him. The merchant. He would find you, I promise”
Lila shook her head, the merchant? She scoffed. Kieran only cared about himself, he was not someone she could trust. Her eyes flashed with a light glint.
“ No! Tell the Pevensie. Allistair, drop the hints, he would surely come”
“ But…”
“ But nothing Eleanor. We are sworn sisters, you can't leave me to rot here” Lila's eyes dampened.
The chains clanged and dangled on her body as she desperately tried to move. The cold chains brushed her wounds making her hiss in pain, tears escaping from her eyes.
That guard…she would kill him herself.
Eleanor seemed to hesitate at the mention of Alistair but then, she nodded,“ For the sake of our relationship. I would save the both of you. I promise Lila” she said and walked away, leaving the two ladies to grovel in their blood.
Lila stared at Eleanor, her gaze carrying a hint of worry.
Meanwhile, Kieran and Allistair wore a disguise as they proceeded to the Tyron's arena. He was the only man who knew everything that went on in the dark of the night and also knew the whereabouts of things.
“ I will meet him” Allistair said, looking towards Kieran who gave him a worried gaze.
“ I'm not so weak and this is my fight” Allistair added.
Kieran rolled his eyes, now it was his fight? Wasn't he the one who didnt want all of this?“ You have me in it now”
Allistair stopped in his tracks , the flashes from the low illuminated arena flying to his face. “ A night of exchange didn't make this your fight, kieran” he said calmly and walked ahead
Kieran clenched his fist, a small smile tugged on the edge of his lips. His eyes flashed with something dark.
Allistair wriggled past the crowd. The arena wasn't all big but it wasn't small either. Just enough for a hell fight to break out leaving everyone fighting for their lives. Alcohol and ... .fear wafted in the air, proof that everyone was cheering while drunk.
“ Old friend” a bulky man held onto him, a sinister look on his face.
Allistair's heart sank, Pane. A man he defeated in the arena few weeks back. He had humiliated him and made him a joke to everyone and no doubt Pane still habored deep hatred for him.
Allistair swallowed, “ let go of my collar” he bit out, not in the mood to garner attention.
Pane gave a smug smile, “ you were all high and mighty when you humiliated me. What? All of those vanished?”
Allistair sighed in exasperation. Guess it was going to happen anyways. He flew his hand in the air, landing a powerful punch on his face.
Pane groaned and fell backwards, his burly body bouncing onto the ground.
Great! They had created a different arena as various gazes had already flown to them.
His gaze fell on Kieran who stood far away, arms crossed as if mocking him. Allistair bit back his frustration as Pane lunged forward over again.
“ Allistair…Allistair!” The crowd roared recognising him.
Pane’s nostrils flared in annoyance as he threw a punch his way. The air broke by the punch but Allistair caught it, sending him flying once again.
The crowd roared in a round of cheers, drowning him with applause. He looked up with satisfaction laced on his face but pane hadn't given up.
He stood, dusting his body with a deadly look on his face.
“ Enough!” A masculine voice rang out. The entire arena quietened down with only a few men whistling as if waiting for the inevitable.
Allistair smiled, it was Tyrone. He wore a dark coloured robe, that ran down to this ankle. It was just a simple looking night robe with silver patterns.
His hair was dark and scattered with sweat streaking down his face. The crowd parted and his gaze fell on Kieran. He frowned“ Tell me Pevensie, who did you bring to my arena?” He asked, his voice sharp and edgy.
The crowd slowly dispersed with few waiting behind as if expecting a fight.
“ This is Kieran…..”
“ The merchant” Tyron completed and his men moved aside. They all adjusted as if the name ‘merchant’ instilled some sort of fear in them.
Kieran smiled to Tyron and drew closer, his hands fixed in his pocket.
Allistair's brows furrowed, a confused gaze laced on his face. “ Tyron, we need your help”
Tyron paused. His hands clenched with eyes sizzling with vengeance.
“ Sure Pevensie. I will help you but there is nothing free in England” he said, dripping with venom.
Allistair raised his brow. “ I've got some cash that won't be a problem”
Tyron smirked, “ keep your little cash” he said to Allistair, “I don't believe I can't fight you…..I challenge you to a duel” he said taking up a stance, his hands poised as he fixed his gaze on Kieran.
Alistair’s eyes widened with shock. Tyron was inhumanely strong. Even he couldn't defeat him.

Chapter 42
Allistair kept his gaze fixated on Lila. She was trembling and for a split second, he felt it was a pretence. A kind of pretence that has become part of her. But….it was Lila. She might actually be doing it all for Freya. He let out and exasperated sigh. A kind that found it difficult to understand or let go.He stared at her and started to analyse all over again. She had control over the shadow guards but she had ran when when they were pursued at the factory. “ The shadow guards, how much do you control?” He asked and she bit her lips. She adjusted, probably from being sore and lying on one position. “ I ..control very few. The shadow guards…the ones that attacked us at the factory. I..I swear I know nothing about them” she said, staring deep into his eyes. She was pleading and for a moment he saw a desperate daughter not a rich heiress or a manipulative woman. He slowly glanced towards Kieran, probably waiting to see his reaction. But–he got none. “ He is making more experi
Chapter 41
Lila woke up, she felt a sharp inexplicable pain. A hiss escaped her lips, forehead creased in pain . Her body felt like it was on the edge, frail and wavering. She remembered the harsh haul, the way that shadow guard had lunged at Allistair. She snapped her eyes open, was she alive or dead? Was Allistair still alive? The thought of him dying unnerved her. If he died, her father would immediately target freya’s family and everything she had done would be all for nothing. She tried to sit up and that was when she saw the ropes on her wrist and the environment she was in. Her heart sank. She was tied to the bed like a woman waiting to be defiled, but …the room, it was familiar, it was the room she woke up in, the one at Kieran's place. The light curtains, the breath of luxury, the soft bed, the familiar lamplight beside the bed. The familiar scent of olive and the ceiling made of rich mahogany. Everything screamed Kieran's place. But ..the question was–why was she tied up? “
Chapter 40
“ How did you find us?” Allistair finally broke the silence in the house. Kieran flung his bloody suit aside, looking like he was ready to commit murder. “ He had Orion watch you” Caedmon answered , patching him up. He winced, the pain from his shoulder was stinging. Almost like his arm was about to be ripped off his shoulders. He furrowed his brow, Kieran sent someone to follow him? It explained the ominous feeling of being watched when he left the gala building. He let out a small smile, glanced at Kieran…“ He talks about trust but he certainly didn't trust I would listen to him” he said, groaned when Caedmon wrapped the bandage firmly. “ It's not you he doesn't trust. It's her” Caedmon said, gesturing towards Lila who was still lying on the floor appearing lifeless. Allistair remembered something. The way Lila had reacted. The shadow guards. Everything. “if we didn't go, we couldn't have known George Bunks was working for Blackwell” he said and Caedmon exhaled. “ If Ori

Kieran walked slowly, steadily. Twigs snapping with each movement. His trembling hands had subsided but his anger spiked seeing Allistair on the floor. A feeling he didn't understand. Couldn't tell exactly why he was angry. “ Kieran” Allistair whispered, a look of shock, fear and hope flashing in his eyes. He ignored him and slowly walked towards the shadow guard who immediately took two steps backwards. He smirked. Wasn't he all bold a while ago? The four gathered together, taking up a stance. One that oozed a killer intent. “ They don't seem ordinary” Orion, his shadow guard whispered, hands clenched on his gear-shaped weapon. “ I'm not either” Kieran breathed and lunged forward. The shadow guards all came at him at the same time. It was like they knew that play time was over and it was serious business. Kieran flung his dagger towards one, sliding under the ground. The first shadow guard dodged but it didn't miss the second guard. The second hissed in pai
Chapter 38
Water splattered as he ran. He felt regretful for a second. He should have just stayed back at the gala. He should have listened to Kieran but now it was already too late. He felt a dark intent, more like danger in a close range. He dodged and a dagger ripped past him and stuck itself on the only wooden door frame. His eyes widened with horror as his blood ran cold. They struck to kill, nothing else. He couldn't make out Lila's figure in the dark or which direction she took, he strained his eyes and that slowed his movement, then he saw her. She darted out of the exit door in the speed of lightening and he did same the next second. “ They followed us?” He asked, his voice rough as he sprinted towards the car. “ No, these ones are different” she replied unevenly, trying to catch her already fleeting breath. He didn't have the brain to process what she just said but he caught onto something. How could she tell if they were different or not? He pulled the door open but the next
Chapter 37
Lila's head snapped towards him, her hands tightening on the steering wheel. “ Who's that?” She asked. He leaned backwards. His brows furrowed. Was he wrong? Was he seeing the wrong thing. He wasn't sure of what he was shocked of. The fact that he could see in the dark or the fact that he just saw George Bunks and too, with Blackwell? Lila sighed, “ look, I know ..I know Kieran told you not to trust me. But..” she said and held his hand, looking deep into his eyes. Time seemed to stop for a moment and his earlier thoughts vanished …“ You can trust me” she added. He froze. Trust? He didn't trust anyone. But …he would rather trust Lila than believe Kieran. He nodded, “ George Bunks. He is the one I need to meet to know more about my blood” he said. Lila withdrew her hand from him. Her brows gathered together. It looked like she was trying hard to know where she heard the name. Then she paused, her eye flashing with a light glint. Realization to be exact. “ You know him?”
