“ Sleep with me” the words hung heavy in the air.
Allistair's eyes widened, his hands clenching beside him. He swallowed, his eyes darting from Kieran to the eerily familiar man beside him.
“ You….sleep with you?” He repeated, his voice a little hesitant. What was he playing at? He questioned internally. He had never expected such a preposition from someone, especially…a man.
Kieran nodded with a predator grin. His hands cradled the glass of whiskey, downing the liquor in one gulp, his gaze fixed on Allistair.
“ Why? I'm a man?” Allistair questioned, his hands folded into a neat blow. A strange feeling of foreboding enveloping him.
Caedmon’s chair scraped as he stood up, tugging at his outfit with a dignified calm “ I will leave you to your choices” he dropped, a fake smile etched on his face. He nodded towards Kieran and turned around, his silhouette disappearing into one of the bar’s rooms.
Allistair watched him, the silhouette too familiar to be ignored. It was for a fact that he was the one who had met his uncle on the night of his parents death. His uncle was dead and here he was, supposed to be the one to help him get into Aufrigad?
He let out and exasperated sigh, Trust is a luxury. His pocket was empty!
“ Fine” he gritted out, “ I will sleep with you” he agreed.
A wide crept onto Kieran's face. A victorious smile, a predator had caught it's prey and ready to feast. He lifted his hand signalling the bartender with a gesture. “ A room please”
“ But just this once. After it, we are done.” Allistair added, his hands clenched beside him.
Kieran’s eyes flashed with something hidden. Deep, dark, ominous. He forced a smile, nodding towards him.
Even something like that had a price here in England!
“ About to spend the night heh?” The bartender asked with a bright smile. His words came as a whisper as the bar had gone silent with only snores of drunken men humming loudly in the night.
“hm, sleep calls” Kieran replied as he stood up, gesturing the bartender to lead the way.
The bartender winked at him, a sheepish smile appearing on his face. “ Old ways, old friend” he said, flashing his dirty unwashed teeth.
“ Even change is a luxury I can't afford” Kieran dropped with knowing smile, his gaze landing on Alistair whose jaws were tight.
Allistair clenched his fist at the exchange between the two men. After he gets what he wanted, he was taking whatever was in there and disappearing out of England.
They stepped into the room, it was a small but healthy looking apartment. The curtains were draped with silk, the bed a sight to hold. Allistair took in the scent of the room. A mush lavender smell with faint dried olive oil.
Dried olive? Way too familiar…he pointed out and walked into the room, his eyes flashing with satisfaction. Compared to his apartment, this was a breath of fresh air.
If he wanted to know who Caedmon was…. genuinely, he would have to get that piece of information from Tyron. The only man who kept his gaze keen enough to notice every single shady deal that happened around him. Tyron Brontë.
He felt a slight graze around his collarbone, down to his chest. He shivered a bit, the cold palm snapping him out of his thoughts.
“a penny for your thoughts?” Kieran breathed, unbuttoning Allistair's shirt.
Allistair scoffed, “ make it five hundred bitcoins” he dropped, his voice a little rough.
A chuckle erupted through Kieran’s chest, low, subtle, rich .
“ Hm, how do you know him? ..I mean Caedmon?”
Kieran's hands froze for a moment, a brief pause. His gaze darkened for a split second, then his lips moved, “ We happen to be two merchants who would be willing to sell our soul for the right amount of money” he replied and lifted Alistair’s head. “ Except tonight.. you would be selling yours to me”he breathed out, his warm breath brushing against Allistair’s skin.
Allistair’s breath caught. Kieran was close….too close. His black hair fell in disheveled strands over one eye, the other burning with a heat that made Allistair’s skin prickle. His lips were parted, damp, tempting.
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
He tried to move away from his embrace but Kieran’s grip tightened around his waist, pulling him against hhis chest.
“ A little too late for that” he breathed and crashed his lips onto Allistair's damp lips.
Allistair gasped, the shock of it running down his spine, pooling low in his stomach. It was nothing like he’d imagined. Not a battle for dominance or a pool of pain , it was hesitant yet claiming
His fingers found it's way to Kieran's hair, his body arching into the heat between them. Kieran’s hands grazed his skin, leaving a burning sensation on every imprint. His lips trailed down Allistair’s throat, his stomach…
A moan escaped him, unrestrained.
Kieran smirked against his skin, triumphant. “There you go”
The moon casted it's glow on entangled figures. The moans and groans that escaped through the window. The scratching of skin and scraping of teeth.
Few hours into the breaking of dawn. Kieran sat up, his gaze fixed on Allistair's sleeping figure. A small smile made it's way to his lips.
“ About time” he whispered and fished out his phone.
His gaze lingered on Caedmon's number before he messaged him.
“ We might need to leave today” he wrote, sent the message and dropped the phone beside the bed lamp.
He looked towards the door and saw a magazine slid Into the room.
He rolled his eyes, magazines? It's about time social media drowned the pitiful thing.
He picked it and scanned through the content, his eyes darkening with each passing second.
“ Lila and Freya had gone missing?” He asked in a low voice.
His gaze fell on the door, it had been directly slid into the apartment.
“ They had been captured” he added, his gaze fixed on the women on the magazine.
“ Lila?” Allistair's voice came through. His forehead creased with worry as he stumbled off the bed in a frenzy.
“ It's a trap” Keiran said, hiding the magazine behind him.
“you made it sound like they were insignificant. Now they were missing?!” He barked, his eyes red from worry
Keiran’s lashes fluttered, his lips twitching a bit. Even for someone who said he didn't love her. Wasn't he reacting a bit too much ?

Chapter 42
Allistair kept his gaze fixated on Lila. She was trembling and for a split second, he felt it was a pretence. A kind of pretence that has become part of her. But….it was Lila. She might actually be doing it all for Freya. He let out and exasperated sigh. A kind that found it difficult to understand or let go.He stared at her and started to analyse all over again. She had control over the shadow guards but she had ran when when they were pursued at the factory. “ The shadow guards, how much do you control?” He asked and she bit her lips. She adjusted, probably from being sore and lying on one position. “ I ..control very few. The shadow guards…the ones that attacked us at the factory. I..I swear I know nothing about them” she said, staring deep into his eyes. She was pleading and for a moment he saw a desperate daughter not a rich heiress or a manipulative woman. He slowly glanced towards Kieran, probably waiting to see his reaction. But–he got none. “ He is making more experi
Chapter 41
Lila woke up, she felt a sharp inexplicable pain. A hiss escaped her lips, forehead creased in pain . Her body felt like it was on the edge, frail and wavering. She remembered the harsh haul, the way that shadow guard had lunged at Allistair. She snapped her eyes open, was she alive or dead? Was Allistair still alive? The thought of him dying unnerved her. If he died, her father would immediately target freya’s family and everything she had done would be all for nothing. She tried to sit up and that was when she saw the ropes on her wrist and the environment she was in. Her heart sank. She was tied to the bed like a woman waiting to be defiled, but …the room, it was familiar, it was the room she woke up in, the one at Kieran's place. The light curtains, the breath of luxury, the soft bed, the familiar lamplight beside the bed. The familiar scent of olive and the ceiling made of rich mahogany. Everything screamed Kieran's place. But ..the question was–why was she tied up? “
Chapter 40
“ How did you find us?” Allistair finally broke the silence in the house. Kieran flung his bloody suit aside, looking like he was ready to commit murder. “ He had Orion watch you” Caedmon answered , patching him up. He winced, the pain from his shoulder was stinging. Almost like his arm was about to be ripped off his shoulders. He furrowed his brow, Kieran sent someone to follow him? It explained the ominous feeling of being watched when he left the gala building. He let out a small smile, glanced at Kieran…“ He talks about trust but he certainly didn't trust I would listen to him” he said, groaned when Caedmon wrapped the bandage firmly. “ It's not you he doesn't trust. It's her” Caedmon said, gesturing towards Lila who was still lying on the floor appearing lifeless. Allistair remembered something. The way Lila had reacted. The shadow guards. Everything. “if we didn't go, we couldn't have known George Bunks was working for Blackwell” he said and Caedmon exhaled. “ If Ori
Chapter 39
Kieran walked slowly, steadily. Twigs snapping with each movement. His trembling hands had subsided but his anger spiked seeing Allistair on the floor. A feeling he didn't understand. Couldn't tell exactly why he was angry. “ Kieran” Allistair whispered, a look of shock, fear and hope flashing in his eyes. He ignored him and slowly walked towards the shadow guard who immediately took two steps backwards. He smirked. Wasn't he all bold a while ago? The four gathered together, taking up a stance. One that oozed a killer intent. “ They don't seem ordinary” Orion, his shadow guard whispered, hands clenched on his gear-shaped weapon. “ I'm not either” Kieran breathed and lunged forward. The shadow guards all came at him at the same time. It was like they knew that play time was over and it was serious business. Kieran flung his dagger towards one, sliding under the ground. The first shadow guard dodged but it didn't miss the second guard. The second hissed in pai
Chapter 38
Water splattered as he ran. He felt regretful for a second. He should have just stayed back at the gala. He should have listened to Kieran but now it was already too late. He felt a dark intent, more like danger in a close range. He dodged and a dagger ripped past him and stuck itself on the only wooden door frame. His eyes widened with horror as his blood ran cold. They struck to kill, nothing else. He couldn't make out Lila's figure in the dark or which direction she took, he strained his eyes and that slowed his movement, then he saw her. She darted out of the exit door in the speed of lightening and he did same the next second. “ They followed us?” He asked, his voice rough as he sprinted towards the car. “ No, these ones are different” she replied unevenly, trying to catch her already fleeting breath. He didn't have the brain to process what she just said but he caught onto something. How could she tell if they were different or not? He pulled the door open but the next
Chapter 37
Lila's head snapped towards him, her hands tightening on the steering wheel. “ Who's that?” She asked. He leaned backwards. His brows furrowed. Was he wrong? Was he seeing the wrong thing. He wasn't sure of what he was shocked of. The fact that he could see in the dark or the fact that he just saw George Bunks and too, with Blackwell? Lila sighed, “ look, I know ..I know Kieran told you not to trust me. But..” she said and held his hand, looking deep into his eyes. Time seemed to stop for a moment and his earlier thoughts vanished …“ You can trust me” she added. He froze. Trust? He didn't trust anyone. But …he would rather trust Lila than believe Kieran. He nodded, “ George Bunks. He is the one I need to meet to know more about my blood” he said. Lila withdrew her hand from him. Her brows gathered together. It looked like she was trying hard to know where she heard the name. Then she paused, her eye flashing with a light glint. Realization to be exact. “ You know him?”
