Chapter forty seven
Silence. That was what happened next. Kael didn't hear a sound nor a word. He slowly walked out of the corner of his room. His armpit was damp with sweat and his eyebrows etched a bit. " Who is there?" he let out gently. His hand gripping the baton he held so tightly that it might break under his tough masculine touch. His jawline was a little out of place and his breath was shallow. "The florescent above him fluctuates gently before they go out. [ Ah! ] Kael shouted frightened. His gaze darting back and forth. " Show yourself you coward!"A ball of lightning came out of nowhere before Kael knew what was happening. The lightning brushed past him, hitting the wall picture of his grandmother and him on the wall. The picture fell and the frame broke loudly. Kael stopped, his eyes filled with tears as he ran towards the frame to picture it up. He tried to look around but still he couldn't see who wanted to attack him. He clenched his teeth in anger as he got back up. A shadow mo

As Kael lay on his bed, his mind was a whirlwind of different emotions. He could barely shut his eyes. The thought of having to face his uncles for the seat his father left behind was not going to be easy. And Celsete, she was missing in all of this. Kael grabbed his phone again and looked at it like he was expecting her call. That was the sixth time he was going to be calling her and no response. At first, Kael felt scared. Maybe she was kidnapped or worse dead. But there was no way he could reach out to her. Celeste had always been the one to contact him. Kael fell back on his bed. Well, it was only a matter of time before she came knocking. But then, the knock truly came. At first, he felt he was hallucinating. But it came repeatedly. He got off his bed and walked to the door. Only to find Blair staring back at him. Kael was not too thrilled to see her. His gaze bored into her and he didn't leave the entrance. " Looks like you are not thrilled to see me. Expecting someone el

"Let it go, Elias. He is only a child!" Helena said with anger. Her face darted between Kael and Elias. "Stop! Both of you. This is supposed to be a reunion from us all and not some fighting arena. "You are going to apologize to your father's brother this instance, Kael, and you are going to tell him you don't mean any of what you have just said." she said with her gaze fixed on him. "Apologize? You have been the only one who has shown me kindness ever since I got there. The rest had been after my head. Do you think I don't see that? I am not a child anymore! I think I know what I want, and I am here to take it. If he wants to fight me, then I will fight every last one of them." Kael said fiercely. "I like you, boy!" Elias's face lit up with a smirk. "It will be my pleasure sending you to the underworld where you belong." Helena moved away from the middle as they were about to clash. The two stopped when they heard a gentle tap on the floor. They both turned back to see who it w

The voice was so commanding that I could feel a cold shiver run down my spine. By now, I could differentiate between the voices of Victor and Markus. It wasn't either of them, so who was it?“You shouldn’t open that door, boy,” he said again. My hand froze on the mahogany handle. The voice was cold; I could barely feel the warmth I felt when Helena was talking. Slowly, I turned my head, and standing just a few steps behind Helena was a man draped in black robes. His hair was white-golden and strawberry and falling across his shoulders, but his eyes… His eyes burned with a dim, unnatural glow.I don't need to be told anymore; everyone Turner had a gift. I gazed at him wondering what he was. Helena stiffened. “Elias,” she said tightly, her usual calm cracking just enough for me to hear the tension beneath it. I looked at her, and I could tell she was also scared of the man standing right before her. Helena was not scared of Victor or Markus, but she was definitely scared of this

The tension was heightened. I could read all the facial expressions in the room. The throne was vacant and a king was needed in the Turner's palace or should I call it a mansion. " We all know the boy is entitled to everything his father left behind if he is indeed a Turner." a voice said from behind. I turned slightly to meet the sharp gaze of a man with piercing blue eyes. I would have called him a vampire if he was having long nails. " Really? Fuck off Bernard!" Markus said throwing his hands in the air. His eyebrows arched from anger. " I still don't get it. This is not some legacy which is passed down from father to child. We all know Gerald was never a saint when it comes to power. He bled for it. Anyone who wants to rule should do the same too." Victor said adjusting himself on his seat. It was true, I don't need to be told the king of the family I was having. They all ooze of power and I could see the hierarchy in the family. Helena was more of a big mind. My eyes went

The silence stretched too long, I still don't understand what Helena meant. The men were all looking vicious while the ladies were calm. Maybe they were scared or maybe the were equally anticipating what was going to happen next. And I, I was the odd man out. I don't understand a thing even though I wanted too. Victor’s jaw flexed. He didn’t move, but his presence was heavy enough to bend the air between us. Helena, in contrast, reclined gracefully in her seat, lips curled into something between a smile and a dare. Markus’s dark eyes pinned me as though I had personally insulted him.I suddenly understood what my grandmother meant by warning me. These people weren’t family—they were predators circling, each waiting for the other to make a mistake. And now I was in the center of it all.“Time?” Victor repeated Helena’s words with venom. “You call this child’s arrival timely? Gerrard’s son—or bastard, depending on whoever he is , and you would crown him heir?”“I never said crown,”
