At first, the thugs stepped backwards, still terrified.

Whoever this man was, he was definetly well trained.

Then the leader staggered back in his steps. Rage burning deep in his eyes.

"We're the Beetle gang. We cannot allow one broad sack of fat make ridicule of us in such a manner?

What would happen to the streak that we have built over the years? We have to attack him from every side!"

Those words seemed to ignite a new rage in each of the thugs.

"Bring out everything you have got! He has to go down!" His voice trials through the night.

Knives, daggers and all sort of weapons instead fell out. Marcus heart shifted since the man was barely armed.

"Is he going to even come out from this alive?" The thoughts flustered in his mind as the racing of his heart increased.

Then the first thug attacked with heightened rage fastening a dagger in his hands.

The bouncer didn't flinch, even for a second.

He caught a hold of the thugs hands and whispered.

"For that much tell? I expected better.". He remarked.

The bouncer dropped the first thug like broken furniture, his arm twisted at a sick angle. The remaining thugs stumbled back, shock written all over their faces. Their earlier arrogance vanished instantly, replaced by pure fear.

But the bouncer wasn’t done.

The second thug charged with a yell, swinging a knife. The bouncer ducked once, slammed a heavy elbow into the thug’s stomach, and sent him crashing into a parked bike. He groaned, coughing blood.

A third thug tried to creep behind him with a chain. Duke didn’t even turn around, he just lifted one finger, a calm signal. The bouncer spun sharply, caught the chain mid-air, yanked the thug forward, and drove a knee into his face. The crack of bone echoed.

Another thug raised a bottle. The bouncer caught his wrist, flipped him over his shoulder, and the thug hit the ground so hard his scream turned into a wheeze.

Two more thugs rushed together. The bouncer stepped sideways, grabbed both by the collars, and slammed their heads into each other. They dropped instantly, out cold.

Every blow was clean, fast, controlled. No wasted movement. No hesitation. He moved like a trained beast unleashed.

The thugs saw it now, this was no normal man. This was a nightmare wearing human skin.

“What… what are these monsters…?” one thug whispered, trembling.

Another tried to crawl away on his hands, but the bouncer kicked the pipe away from him and glared, daring him to move again.

Within seconds, the entire group of thugs lay scattered across the street groaning, clutching broken limbs, or too stunned to speak.

The confidence they carried earlier had drained completely. Their eyes darted between Duke and the bouncer with terror.

Duke finally stepped forward, his calm voice slicing through the silence.

“That should be enough.”

The bouncer nodded and stepped back immediately, his chest rising and falling steadily. He wasn’t even breathing hard. Not even sweating, like he had just done nothing but a light warm up.

The thugs trembled, pressing their backs against the pavement and walls, too terrified to move.

They expected Duke to order their deaths. The fear in their eyes showed it.

But Duke only glanced at Marcus and shook his head quietly.

“We can’t waste time finishing them,” he murmured. “Master Marcus needs care urgently.”

Marcus, who had been leaning against a street pole, blinked slowly. His vision blurred again. His ribs burned. His head throbbed. He felt like the world was tilting over and over.

He stared at Duke, this strange, powerful man who appeared out of nowhere and knew his name.

“What… who… who are you…?” Marcus whispered, voice weak.

Duke stepped closer, his expression softening just slightly, but still carrying that dangerous authority.

“Save your strength,” Duke said. “You’re safe now.”

Marcus wanted to ask more. He wanted answers. But everything around him started to spin. His body grew heavier, sinking. The pain from the earlier beating flooded through him at once, too strong, too sharp.

His knees buckled.

The bouncer rushed to catch him before he hit the ground.

Duke frowned deeply and pressed a firm hand against Marcus’s shoulder. “Stay with me, young master.”

Marcus froze at that word.

“Young… master…?” he echoed, confused and his breath shaking.

But his voice faded. His heartbeat slowed. His eyelids drooped.

Duke tapped the bouncer’s arm sharply. “Get him to the car. Now. Drive straight to the hospital.”

“Yes, sir!” the bouncer responded instantly, lifting Marcus carefully.

Marcus heard their voices echoing far away, like they were underwater.

“Young master… young master, stay awake…”

“Rush! Don’t waste a second!”

The world dimmed, the street vanished and everything slipped into darkness.

“How dare you insult my father?!” She yelled at Marcus, but he didn’t look like he was ready to take back his words.“You are as foolish as he is, Tamara,” Marcus added, causing her to growl. “Did…” Tamara turned to her father, but it seemed as though she couldn’t find her words, her voice breaking down before she could continue.“Did you hear that, Daddy? He just called me a fool! CHAPTER NINETY-SEVEN Sam’s eyes widened as soon as he saw the ticket, and even Tamara drew closer to take a look. “There must be a mistake, Daddy,” Tamara whispered when her father turned to her for explanations. “What do you mean, Tamara?” Sam’s voice was laced with annoyance, his angry eyes turning from the ticket, back to his daughter, and then to the ticket. “This is the exact ticket that I gave you to give to Miss Queen…” He looked at the ticket carefully again, and then he cleared his throat, anger churning inside his stomach.“How the hell did it get into the hands of…” He turned to Marcus, his eyes burning with disdain. “This… This…” He pointed at him, not knowing what exactly to call him. Then he growled, returning his gaze to his daughter. “I need you to answer me, Tammy. Tell me the truth…”“Yes, Daddy…” Tamara nodded, and then she took a deep breath, struggling with the feelings that gripped her. “But this just proves how irresponsible and cunny you are, and I don’t see myself investing with and trusting my money with someone like you…” Sam thought he heard wrong at first, but the words from the young man were still resounding inside his mind, causing him to take a deep breath. He cleared his throat after a few seconds, and then he looked at Wendy, holding onto his wry smile.“You didn’t tell me that your silly boyfriend here is a clown…”He scoffed, holding onto his wry smile. “Where the hell did you meet him? A circus?” He burst out laughing, and his daughter joined him at once. They laughed so hard that they soon got the attention of some of the guests in the space who decided to watch the available show since the intended show was not available. “You are so funny, boy!” Sam pointed at Marcus, looking him in the face.“Come here to tell me that you are not going to invest in my company. “Don’t let your father deceive you, Tammy…” Wendy shifted her focus to her child, staring at her with tears in her eyes. “I loved you and put you first, and you know it. All I ever wanted was to provide for you, to give you the life that your father here couldn’t. I just couldn’t sit and watch you suffer, so I decided to go all out just because I love you!” She was still struggling not to drop her tears, staring at her daughter without blinking. But her expression fell the moment Tamar scoffed, watering down all her efforts. “What a funny way of showing it, Wendy…” Tamara snorted, her words piercing into her mother sharper than a sword. “You didn’t care about me, Wendy…” Tamara continued with a lower but audible tone, and as her father nodded in satisfaction, she was still looking for more hurtful words to say.“You just wanted to rebuild what was left of your father’s stupid and old garage. You just wanted to take care of that junkyard!”“Don’t say that!” Wendy shook her head in t

The buyers paid quite a huge amount, and I decided not to let the money go to waste.”Wendy’s eyes widened, sparking with both anger and shock. She tried to suppress her tears, but she couldn’t. CHAPTER NINETY-TWO The middle-aged lady sniffled, and then she nodded, wiping remaining tears on her face.“I am so sorry…” She apologized, and even though Marcus nodded, he couldn’t get rid of the annoyance that was all over his face. He wasn’t angered by the lady’s emotions, but the story she had told, and the fact that the event he had been forced to attend was yet to start. “Maybe I shouldn’t have come here.” He thought to himself, his mind filled with regret. Then he took a deep breath, and then he cleared his throat, preparing to break his silence. When he was certain that the lady was not ready to speak, it seemed like she was about to prove him wrong. “I would do anything for you to help me, Mr. Trevor. Anything at all…” Wendy’s tone was laced with a little desperation, and while she was still attempting to get a grip on herself, Marcus was busy attempting to find the most suitable response to give to her. “Just mention it, Mr. Trevor…” She insisted, her voice still sl
