Kain never picked up his sword.“Vane,” he said, his voice free of any sign of agitation. Down the blade, it's me, it's Kain. The dark light churned in Vane's eyes, and they were wide. He held his sword in his hand, it quivered there. "You're a liar! You've introduced a demon into this city! I saw it! I noticed the blood's shadows! In the hall the guards were all in terror. They didn't know who to believe. Their Lord the one who saved the capital.“Vane,” said Ryna softly, coming out from behind Kain. Look at me, you know me, I fought with you at the western pass. Remember the mud? “Have you ever heard of the Iron Fleet?”Vane's breath hitched. For a moment, the dark light in his eyes flickered. "Ryna... I..."The Old Conqueror whispered to Kain in his mind, "Kill them both. “He's just too feeble to withstand me, it's a blessing.”Kain gritted his teeth. He didn't listen to the voice.“Joren?” Kain whispered. “Clear the hall, now!Joren nodded and grabbed the other guards and tugged a

The populace remained in their houses and cowered behind their doors waiting for the next catastrophe.Veyr was dead. The lords of the south had taken refuge in their strongholds and were not recognizing Kain's rule. The Iron Fleet was still in camp on the western coast, dusting themselves off and waiting for reinforcements. But the northern mountain clans, divided, were starting to rouse from their divisions.Three fronts. Three armies on the verge of ripping the kingdom apart.Kain saw the System panel floating in his sight. The blue interface still bore the stains of the Old Conqueror, with a dark red corruption.CAUTION: SYSTEM INSTABILITY AT 65%.THESE MAY NOT BE ACCURATE.The System had been malfunctioning throughout the morning. The map markers were moving. There was a garbling of the text. The Old Conqu

Darkness. An impenetrable void.Kain could not move. He could not breathe. All he could do was stare into his own mind."You are persistent."The voice of the Old Conqueror boomed through the void.Kain forced his eyes open. He stood upon a vast, dark plain. The sky above was a whirlwind of grey ash and the land beneath his feet was cracked and lifeless.Standing a few metres before him was the spirit of the Old Conqueror. A shining iron crown adorned his head, giving him a solid look. He looked like a true king."Where am I?" Kain asked, his voice weak."You are within your soul." The Old Conqueror said simply. "Not the best place, but it'll have to do."The spirit raised his arm. A black flame sword appeared in his hand."I gave you everything. Power, an empire... but you chose to show mercy. To be weak. I will take what I want."Kain raised his sword. It appeared in his hands. Just an ordinary sword, dull and heavy. No golden light. The conqueror charged. Kain raised his sword, blo

Veyr's eyes contracted to slits."What are you doing?" He hissed.Kain didn't reply. He could feel the golden energy surging through his body. Unlike the Dark Tactics, it was warm. "My power is fully restored."Veyr growled and swung his hand. A huge blast of dark energy surged forwards.Kain didn't move. Instead he lifted his sword. The dark energy slammed into the golden energy. The energy exploded into black smoke."Impossible!"Kain strode forwards. Each step caused glowing footprints to appear. The shadows in the room fled from him."You destroyed so many lives. Kain deflected the blow effortlessly."You thought power was taking." He stated. "But you were wrong."Veyr swung aga
