"You’re out of your mind, Elena! This isn't just some dirty corporate network; it’s an octopus with its tentacles around everything!" Raka slammed the Cerberus Initiative file onto the table, the sheets of paper fluttering like snow in the safe room Elena had provided. His heart hammered, holding back a mixture of rage and fear. He stared at Elena, desperate to pierce her calm gaze, searching for a crack, a hint of doubt. But there was nothing. Only that cold composure that always made him sick.

Elena simply looked at him, her dark eyes barely blinking. "Did you only just realize that, Raka? I’ve been living inside it for years." Her voice was flat, devoid of emotion, a sharp contrast to the turmoil in Raka’s chest. "Do you think I asked you to do this without knowing exactly what we were up against?"

"I can't trust you anymore, Elena," Raka exhaled, the words just slipping out. "You sent me to Mrs. Anya, she gave me this, you involved Leo, and all of it was just to confirm what you already knew!" He pointed at the stack of Cerberus documents on the table. "You see us as pawns, don't you?"

A thin, almost invisible smile flickered across Elena’s lips. "You dare to challenge me; that’s good. It means you still have a soul." Elena stood up, slowly walking around the table like a predator observing its prey. The faint scent of her perfume wafted through the air, yet it still felt cold, shackling Raka. "I didn't ask you to do this, Raka. I forced you. There is a difference. And I did it because I know you are capable. Because you have a conscience—a rare commodity in the world of the Architect."

Raka swallowed hard. Those words, in the midst of his anger, somehow softened his heart, if only a little. He hated the way Elena manipulated him, yet on the other hand, he also felt that she knew him better than anyone else. It was a sickening and intoxicating relationship, a bond forged from danger and secrecy.

"So, Cerberus," Raka said, getting back to the point, trying to pull his thoughts away from Elena’s intense gaze. "Is this their heart?"

Elena nodded, her expression turning serious as she locked eyes with him. "Yes. The Cerberus Initiative is the central nervous system of the Architect. They aren't just a consortium that dominates the market, Raka. They are an entity that controls destiny. Through Cerberus, they manipulate assets, launder money, and most terrifyingly, 'liquidate' individuals or companies deemed to be in their way. Mrs. Anya’s husband, Bianca, and many other victims—they all passed through the doors of Cerberus."

Raka felt his stomach churn. The word "liquidate" sounded so horrific, so devoid of emotion. "So, you knew about this from the start? Mrs. Anya’s husband... was he part of this?"

"Mrs. Anya’s husband was an idealist. He saw the irregularities in his company, where Cerberus had begun to take root. He started gathering information, hiding it behind his wife’s pendant, hoping that one day the truth would come to light," Elena explained, her gaze softening slightly—a rare hint of emotion that Raka seldom saw. "Unfortunately, he wasn't fast enough. Or perhaps, he was too confident. The Architects found his trail."

Raka stared at the files on the table, realizing the weight of every page. "And you... used his data, used Mrs. Anya, and Leo too?"

"I didn't use them, Raka," Elena asserted, her voice turning sharp again. "I gave them a chance for justice. Mrs. Anya wants revenge for her husband; she knows exactly what she’s doing. Leo... he is a genius who is too valuable to be left in ignorance. Besides, he wouldn't have believed me. But he believes in you."

Raka snorted. "You really are an expert at trapping people, aren't you?"

Elena shrugged, the corners of her mouth lifting slightly. "This is war, Raka. And in war, every pawn has its role. Now, back to the point. The data you brought is vital. It confirms the scale and modus operandi of Cerberus in much greater detail than we expected."

"We?" Raka asked, his eyes narrowing. "Who is 'we'?"

Elena turned, staring out the frosted window. "You aren't alone in this, Raka. Neither am I. There is a larger network, people who have been working in the shadows, just like you. We call ourselves... Ghost."

Ghost. The name echoed in Raka's mind. A network? So, there were more people moving in the darkness, just like him. A sense of relief and disbelief raced through his mind. Relief because he wasn't truly alone, but disbelief because Elena had once again hidden information this significant.

"You have allies, Raka. But they move on different paths, in more secretive ways," Elena explained, as if reading his doubts. "They are hackers, former Cerberus employees who grew sick of the Architects. One of them, a woman named Lena, is the most brilliant among them. She already knows about you; she’s been watching your every move."

Raka fell silent. Lena. A female hacker. So, there’s someone else watching me besides Darma? The thought sent a shiver down his spine. "Lena?"

"She’s a former Cerberus employee who managed to escape with some valuable information. She vanished after leaking the initial data about Cerberus to us," Elena continued. "She believes in the mission, but she doesn't believe in direct methods. She prefers to be a ghost in the machine, hiding behind the scenes, pulling strings without being seen."

"Is she... alright?" Raka asked, feeling an odd need to inquire. A touch of humanity in the middle of all this manipulation.

Elena turned to look at Raka. There was a faint, genuine smile on her lips this time—a smile Raka rarely saw. "She’s tough. Tougher than you think. And she will be your most valuable ally. Especially for the next mission."

"The next mission?" A cold sensation spread through Raka’s gut. He knew this was coming, yet every time Elena said those words, he felt his life span shortening.

"We have to go deeper, Raka. Now that we know Cerberus is their core, we need to infiltrate one of their largest fronts." Elena stepped closer, her eyes boring into his. "There is an asset management company called Chronos Holdings. They are one of Cerberus's most active facades. You will be working there."

"Infiltrate?" Raka choked out. "You mean... I have to be a spy in their den?"

"Exactly," Elena replied. "You have the perfect background, the skills they need. Your identity has already been prepared. You will be a financial analyst there."

"And Darma?" Raka asked, the image of that cold-faced man returning to haunt him. "He’s seen me, Elena. At the gallery. He knows my face."

Elena nodded. "I know. That’s why this time will be different. Darma is already looking for you. He will be watching your every move. Every tiny mistake could be fatal."

"How delightful," Raka snorted, trying to find a bit of dark humor. "So, I have to pretend to be myself, but a dirtier version, right under a killer's nose, while gathering evidence to take them down?"

Elena smiled faintly, and this time, the smile felt like a challenge rather than a threat. "You will be an artist, Raka. An artist of deception. You will look for cracks, for weaknesses, and then you will plant a data tap inside their system. That will be our eyes and ears in there. Lena—Ghost—will help you from afar."

"Lena... she’s going to help me? How?" Raka asked, still unable to imagine how this mysterious "Ghost" would operate.

"She will be your safety net, your shield from the digital world. She will give you directions, crack codes, and if necessary, open doors that aren't visible. But she will not appear before you. She is a shadow," Elena explained, her voice carrying full confidence in the mysterious figure. "However, never forget, Raka. Cerberus is a watchdog. They will smell a stranger. Every step you take must be perfect."

Fear gripped Raka, but in the midst of that fear, there was a strange surge—a drive born of anger and determination. He saw the faces of Bianca and Mrs. Anya, and he knew he couldn't back down. This was a battle he had to win.

"Fine," Raka said, his voice now steady. "I'll do it." He looked at Elena, feeling a strange tug-of-war between them. Danger, shaky trust, and a shared purpose. There was an unspoken spark in their eyes, an acknowledgment of the strange bond that had been forged.

Elena met his gaze, and there was a depth there that Raka couldn't quite fathom—an implicit promise that was more than just the mission. "Good. I’ll send the details of your new identity and your initial schedule. You must leave in a few days. Erase all your tracks in this apartment."

Elena turned, preparing to leave, but Raka stopped her. "Wait. Why are you doing all this, Elena? What do you want from all this?"

The woman stopped at the threshold, her back to him. Her voice was low, almost a whisper. "Freedom. For all of us. And maybe... to atone for a past that cannot be changed." Then, she left, leaving Raka alone in the room that felt cold, surrounded by the threatening piles of files.

Raka sat back down, his head feeling heavy. Atone for a past? What are you hiding, Elena? He stared at his burner phone lying on the table. Suddenly, the screen flickered—a notification for an incoming message. The message was from an unknown number and consisted of only one word: "Welcome."

Raka gripped the phone tightly. His heart was racing. Ghost. Lena. The mysterious ally was already watching him. He was no longer alone, yet that loneliness felt more piercing than ever in the middle of the labyrinth of lies and betrayal he had just entered. He knew his life now depended on navigating the shadows, between the hunting Darma and the watching Ghost. A deadly game had just begun.

"You ask me to risk everything, and then you hide me in this dingy warehouse?" Julianna Vance, her golden hair now more disheveled than usual, pointed around the safe room Elena had prepared. Her green eyes glared at Raka, annoyed. She stood in the middle of the dimly lit room, her expensive blazer looking ironic amidst the old sacks and rusted mechanical tools. "This doesn't seem like the 'safe location' you promised, Raka."Raka felt his stomach churn. Good grief, the fussy Julianna Vance was back. He tried to smile, even though his cheek was still slightly swollen. "This is... industrial aesthetic, Julianna. Think of it as the avant-garde of the resistance."Julianna snorted. "And you think I’m going to believe in a giant corporate octopus just because an 'avant-garde' executive slipped a charred note into my notebook?" Her voice was sharp, yet there was a hint of hesitation. Elena stood near the iron door, silent, like an unexpected sentinel statue."Not an octopus, Julianna," Rak

Now!"The apartment walls vibrated. A loud explosion echoed from the floor below, followed by the sound of shattering glass. They don't exactly knock, do they? Raka swallowed hard, his heart racing like an engine spinning out of control. That fear was back—cold and lethal—but this time, it was laced with rage. This is only the beginning of the chaos I’ve created."Run, Raka! Now!" Elena commanded. "Your office at Chronos is already surrounded too. Do not go back there."Raka scanned the temporary apartment, which now felt like a death trap. He had already packed a small backpack with the essentials. He heard heavy footsteps in the corridor, drawing closer. Darma wasn't playing games. And he hadn't come alone."Lena! Where is she?" Raka asked, his voice catching. He needed more than just a warning."She’s already there," Ele

Raka rubbed his jaw, which was still aching; the mark from Darma’s punch felt swollen. The words spilled out, not from fear, but from being fed up with the risks they were facing. He stood in Elena’s safe room, staring at the digital map of the city projected onto the wall, where Chronos Holdings glowed bright red as their primary target. In the corner of the room, Elena’s phone blinked, showing a video call from Lena; her face looked serious, yet her eyes hinted at a strange cheerfulness."Darma knows who you are, Raka. We aren't hiding anymore. We’re going to draw them out of their nest, where the public eye can see them," Elena answered calmly, her voice remaining emotionless, but her gaze piercing. "And why should we die slowly in the shadows if we can go down while lighting up the entire city?"Lena nodded from the phone screen. "Elena is right. Darma is a hunter who won't stop. He’s like a virus; if we don’t purge him from t

Raka growled, his voice choked with anger and the pain radiating through his jaw.He stood before Elena, his body still bruised and his muscles tense; the image of Darma and the deafening sound of gunfire still swirled in his mind. The scent of antiseptic from his fresh wounds stung his nose, mixing with the scent of Elena’s perfume, which always felt too cold.Elena simply stared at him, her eyes as calm as a lake in the morning. "So, you’re finally asking." A faint smile, nearly invisible, flickered across her lips. "I told you, you aren't alone. Ghost is your ally.""An invisible ally who appears out of nowhere to save my ass from Darma, then vanishes like smoke!" Raka shot back, his frustration peaking. "You’re keeping so much from me, Elena. How can I trust you if you keep treating me like a stupid pawn who doesn't need to know anything?"Elena sighed, her gesture showing a hint of exhaustion she rarely displayed. "

"Damn it! Why am I risking everything like this?" Raka muffled his groan, his voice hoarse in the apartment's silence.A dark shadow enveloped him, even though the sun had just touched the horizon. The anonymous note, which he had slipped into Julianna Vance's book last night, felt like fire burning his back. Darma knew. He knew it, he could feel it. The cold sensation at the nape of his neck wasn't the lingering effect of a nightmare, but a premonition so real, piercing deep into his gut.Raka got up, trying to shake off the uneasy feeling that enveloped him. He walked to the small kitchen, pouring dark, strong coffee into a mug. His hands trembled slightly, not from lack of sleep, but from the adrenaline that had been pumping since he opened his eyes. Had Julianna read the note? Would she believe it? Or would she ignore it, dismissing it as a strange joke? An uncertainty far more terrifying than facing Darma directly. He had taken a huge risk, not just for this mission, but for that
