CHAPTER 110 - THE DEBT COLLECTOR
Dylan and Hailey left Aurelia Table together, but the moment they stepped outside, Hailey's attention immediately turned toward the road. Her mind was still focused entirely on her parents, and she instinctively reached for her phone while looking for a taxi that could take them to the restaurant as quickly as possible. Before she could make the call, however, Dylan continued walking toward the parking lot. Hailey stopped and looked at him in confusion. "Where are you going?" Dylan glanced over his shoulder. "Come with me." "But we need to get a cab." "Just follow me." There was such certainty in his voice that Hailey hesitated before eventually following him. She still had no idea where he was taking her, and given everything she had just heard from her mother, she didn't have the patience to figure it out. They soon reached the parking area, where several expensive vehicles were parked beneath the lights. Hailey barely paid attention to them. Her parents were in
CHAPTER 109 - DISTRESS CALL
For several seconds after Dylan's revelation, Hailey simply stared at him. She had heard the words, understood them, and even accepted that he had somehow proven them, yet her mind still seemed unwilling to catch up with reality. Nightwalker was Dylan. Dylan was Nightwalker. The two people she had unconsciously kept in completely separate parts of her life had suddenly become the same person. Hailey slowly lowered her gaze to the table, trying to organize her thoughts. Then she looked back at him. "Why?" Dylan raised an eyebrow. "Why what?" "Why did you hide it from me?" There was no anger in her voice, but there was genuine confusion. "If you were Nightwalker all this time, why didn't you just tell me?" Dylan considered the question for a moment. "Because I didn't want people knowing it was me." "Because of Amber?" "Partly." He leaned back in his chair. "My original account was already known by most of the students who were involved in all the trolling after everyth
CHAPTER 108 - ARE YOU NIGHTWALKER?
Hailey had checked the time on her phone so many times that she had eventually stopped counting. She sat alone inside the private reservation room at Aurelia Table, occasionally glancing toward the door whenever she heard footsteps in the hallway. The restaurant had already made her feel slightly out of place the moment she arrived, but the private room made the feeling even stronger. Everything around her was elegant. The soft lighting reflected off the polished table, the furnishings were far more luxurious than anything she normally encountered, and even the quiet atmosphere felt different from the busy dining area outside. Yet Hailey barely noticed any of it. Her attention remained fixed on the door. Nightwalker, was supposed to arrive soon. The thought alone made her stomach flutter. She had spent so much time thinking about him in her head that meeting him in person suddenly felt strangely intimidating. She knew his personality, or at least the version of it he had s
CHAPTER 107 - STAFF SELECTION
Dylan looked down at the first folder on the desk while the mansion agent sat across from him, patiently waiting for his decision. The office was considerably quieter than the reception area outside, and several neatly arranged folders covered the large desk between them. Each one contained information about a potential employee who could become part of Dylan's household staff. Dylan picked up the first file. "Housekeeper?" "Yes," the agent replied. "We narrowed the selection down to three candidates. All of them have several years of experience working in private residences, and each candidate has passed our initial screening." Dylan opened the folder and began reading. The first candidate had worked for a wealthy family for almost seven years before leaving after the family relocated. Her references were excellent, and her employment history showed no unexplained gaps. The second had worked in luxury hotels before moving into private household management. The third had spent
CHAPTER 106 - MEDICAL LEGEND
By the time Dylan left the hospital, the sky had already grown dark. He drove through the evening traffic toward Lakeheights Mansion, but his mind remained fixed on Luke's account of the attack. The image of his friend lying helplessly on the hospital bed refused to leave him. The fake basketball practice bothered him most. Someone had deliberately made Luke believe there was practice when there wasn't. Someone had gotten him to the facility while ensuring he would be alone, and then several men had appeared and attacked him. It was too organized to feel random. And although Dylan had no evidence connecting Brandon to what happened, the similarities between Luke's assault and the attacks he had experienced himself continued to gnaw at him. By the time he reached Lakeheights, however, he had decided there was nothing he could do tonight. The mansion greeted him with the same silence as before. Dylan entered, locked the door behind him, and dropped his keys onto the table near t
CHAPTER 105 - JEOPARDIZED FUTURE
The room became silent. Luke's eyes gradually became red. Dylan noticed it immediately. "The doctors said I'll need time to recover," Luke said. "Yeah," Ryan replied quietly. "They said the surgery went well." Luke nodded. "But what does that matter?" Ryan looked at him with a confused expression. "What are you talking about?" "The charity game." Luke's voice cracked slightly. Dylan's heart sank. The charity game wasn't just another university basketball event. Several scouts were expected to attend. For Luke, it represented an opportunity that might never come again. He had spent years dreaming about becoming a professional athlete. Basketball wasn't simply something he enjoyed playing. It was the future he had built his entire life around. "If I can't play..." Luke whispered. He stopped. Dylan leaned forward. "You'll recover." "What if I don't recover in time?" Luke looked at him. "The scouts are coming soon." His voice trembled. "I've been waiting for an opportunit
