2: Twice as Unlucky

How did he end up with such luck? Even Matt didn't know. All he could remember was waking up from sleep in a bed and being told that he was the son-in-law of this family and even got the bonus of marrying a beautiful belle!

That would have been extremely nice if only he wasn't looked down on by all, even his in-laws. But he didn't take it personally. He was rather okay with most of it.

The fact that his fiance hadn't had anything to eat indeed bothered him so he didn't hesitate to head off to where he was assigned to.

He got to a fancy restaurant that wasn't far off and packed up some takeaway meals.

He didn't have enough money to get one of those expensive meals of $1,000 plus. The money he had was the only savings he had with him at the moment.

It was indeed awkward for a son-in-law of a rich family to complain about lacking money and all, but it was indeed reality.

It was important to note that although Matt Dawns was married to this extremely wealthy family and had this beautiful fiancee to show off for, he hadn’t enjoyed the glory of such riches, not even once!

He was never allowed to use the money from the family as he wanted and was only given little pay like someone who worked part-time there!

He was always bashed to go and find a job by family members, especially his mother-in-law!

That explained his current situation.

Thus, he never even felt like a member of the family but rather like a servant living there. He had guessed that this was perhaps because he was obviously from a lowly background.

Matt couldn't be certain because he literally couldn't remember anything! All he recalled was waking up in bed and being told he was the son-in-law.

He lost his memory and couldn't remember anything that happened before that no matter how he tried. So he gave up. As long as he lived and was going to have such a beautiful and rich woman for a wife, what memory could be better?

"I'll take that...," Matt had said reluctantly placing the the 2200-dollar bill on the payment bar. It wasn't fully from his heart because this was his hard-earned money and he couldn't believe it was going just like that!

But what could he do? It was for his lovely fiancee.

"Okay. Here it is." He watched as the man pack up his meal and then handed it to him.

After that, Matt Dawns left with the ‘hard-earned lunch’ in his hands.

Given his situation, it was obvious that no one would recognize him on the way and say, "Oh! Isn't he the fiance of that rich family?! Wow, he's so lucky!"

It was impossible because there was never an engagement ever since he woke up. All were told to him by words and his relationship with his fiancee wasn't even announced publicly!

Anyone who saw him would only roll his or her eyes at how shabby he looked and how clumsy he acted. No one in the nine planets would ever believe he was a son-in-law to such a rich family!

Matt Dawns took a cab to his destination, and when he finally got there, he sighed and forced a smile as he looked up at the huge shop before him.

Selena Gems was the name of the shop which stood there and was owned by his fiancee, Selena Dawns.

She was a fashion designer, or precisely, a university student who majored in Fashion and Design, and was in her final year.

As early as her first year, her family had already opened a fashion and design mall for her, which was very popular in the city for being luxurious and excellent in every way!

Even her, the CEO of this mall was well known and adored too. All admired her beauty and how rich she was! A young CEO like her seemed like a perfect role model to most.

This fashion mall was more like a part-time job for her because she rarely came here. Like one or twice a week, perhaps.

With a smile, Matt looked at the meal in his hands. Hopefully, she would appreciate him and compliment his effort. This was his wish because she hadn't done so, even once!

All she did was the opposite.

As Matt Dawns made his way up to the mall, he paused at the sight of something he had seen through the glass walls of the mall.

It was something that shocked him!

The sight of a beautiful and slender-looking Selena, dressed in a pink and fashionable gown which Matt knew was over thousands of dollars, walking side by side with another man whom he didn't even know, hit him hard.

His expression stiffened as he stared at them from where he was.

His fiancee and that man stared at each other affectionately, chatting and smiling fondly.

Matt Dawns didn't know what they were talking about but he wasn't happy at the sight at all.

The man even brushed Selena’s hair back to her ears with his hands. And she, in turn, smiled at him shyly.

Matt clenched his fist at the scene and then finally sighed deeply, feeling overall desperate. Just at that very moment, he suddenly didn't know why he should be angry and what to hope for. Wasn’t this his pity destiny? Selena has been his fiancee by name for almost two years now, he should have known that this was who she was partly.

Selena had never considered him worthy, instead, she had always looked down on him. No matter how much effort and love he had struggled to shower down on her, she had always despised him and his efforts. She had always found smiles with other men whom she had seen as capable and worthy.

it was rather off for someone who was as rich as she was to find more favor in other rich guys who can satisfy her materially. But this was someone that Matt could say Selena was.

He knew she was someone who had always felt the comfort of being around rich guys unlike him.

It was clear that she basically won't reject him because of the fact that she had wanted something of high class to eat because she could afford it herself

It was obvious that she didn't like his company at all but rather Companies of rich brats like this man.

Bit either ways, Matt wasn't going to give up without first trying.
