Chapter - 06

As soon as Alex entered the room, he was asked to sit wherever he wanted to. The job process was simple and to be conducted in two stages. First was a written test, followed by the interview for those who passed the previous.

The room was packed to the brim, which made him feel even more nervous than he already was. Contrary to the men to women ratio in Theation, of those present in the room, the majority was that of men. This surprised Alex a bit, but this was a competition and everyone has the right to try their luck. A bit nervous, Alex slowly dragged his feet to the very end of the room, looking at the faces of his competition.

Employees were coming and going out of the room with documents with them. And the others found it really hard to keep it down with all the applicants present. Overall it was quite hectic, and Alex was probably the only one sitting silently, all alone at the back.

While the others were busy chatting among themselves, Alex was scrutinizing his competition. None of the men that were present there looked like they needed a job. From top to bottom, they were donned in accessories worth thousands of dollars, and they were not at all shy in flaunting it. Only the ladies looked normally dressed.

Since it didn't look like the test was going to start anytime soon. The applicants busied themselves in conversation. Alex's ears twitched, and he concentrated on listening to what they were talking about. It could turn out to be helpful during the test or maybe later during the interview.

"Never expected to see you here. Hehehe... Don't tell me your family has gone bankrupt overnight. Hahahaha..." One guy said to the one beside him.

"Hohoho... don't joke about something like that so casually. I am here for the very same reason as you are," The other guy replied with a wink.

"Hehehe... the same reason as me... That makes us partners in crimes," and the two men laughed lecherously.

"Which flower are you here to pluck?" Alex turned his attention to someone else, and leaned a bit to hear what they were talking about.

"This garden is full of flowers, but you know me. I am tired of ordinary flowers. Now I want something wild, fierce. You know what I mean,"

"Then you don't have to worry about a thing. From what I have heard, every lady here is fiercer than the other. You will find the perfect one to pluck. Hehehehe..."

"I already have my eyes on someone. I have heard that the PR department head..."

The man was about to reveal something important when the doors were pushed open, and a group of women following a lady dressed in a blue checkered shirt, black skirt, and high heels walked in. The moment the lady walked in, the room went silent, with only the tapping sounds of her heels resounding in the room.

"She is here... She is here..." the man who was interrupted earlier almost squealed in excitement.

"Who is she?" the one beside the man asked.

"The PR department head. The one I have set my eyes on," the man said, drooling over the lady.

But Alex could completely understand where this man was coming from. The moment she walked in, almost every man in the room forgot to breathe. With skin white as snow, ample chest, tight shirt, chestnut coloured hair rolled into a bun. The lady in front of them was the fantasy boss of most of the men there in the room.

The lady went straight to the table placed in the room and started going through the files and sheets placed there. Without looking at anyone else, she was fully focused on her work. She only looked up at everyone else when she was done going through the sheets and had arranged them.

"Good morning, everyone," the lady greeted everyone with a warm smile. That smile was enough to sent flutters in the heart of every man present there. Some were even lost in their dreamland with their mouths open. The ladies behind the PR department head started giggling when they saw this, only to receive glares from their boss.

The PR head then turned towards the applicants and started addressing them again, "All of you today are present to apply for the job in the PR department of Theation. If anyone of you is in the wrong room by mistake, now is the time for you to leave," the PR head said and paused. She was waiting for those not here to apply in the PR department to leave, but none left. Moreover, even if they were in the wrong room, men wouldn't leave now.

After waiting for a while when none of them left, the PR head continued, "As mentioned in the notification released by Theation, this time around, we won't put much emphasis on your past educational achievements. We will decide whom to hire, based on the spot exams we are about to conduct," the PR head said and received nods in return from the applicants.

"If there is anything you want to ask, now is the time," The PR head told them.

She waited for a while and when there was no question asked, she gestured to the lady behind her and said, "Now then, we will start with the written test. This is a "Foreign Language Test". As part of the PR department, you are going to come in contact with people from all over the world," The PR head said as the other ladies handed over the paper to the applicants.

"The test consists of six languages, chosen based on how many people speak them and the market our company is aiming for as of now. I don't need to explain any more than the fact that you need to score at least seventy-five percent marks in any of the three languages to qualify for the interviews. And to make it easy for you, we have included English as one of the languages. Then I suppose if you don't have any more questions," The PR head said and looked at her watch, "Aannnd... you can begin now."

As soon as she said that, Alex looked at the paper and went through it quickly. The Languages included English, Hindi, German, Spanish, Japanese and chinese. Well, these languages surely covered more than fifty percent of the world.

Alex quickly went through the details on the very first page. The important things were that the test was going to be for one hour, they were not allowed to leave before the time was up, and all the questions were multiple choice. Alex quickly filled in his details, and he was now ready to begin.

Time went by quickly, and after half an hour or so, Alex was done with his test. Putting his pen aside, Alex gave his body a nice little stretch before he looked around at everyone else. When he looked at others, he found that some of the other applicants were still busy with their tests. The rest were busy making some memories. The guys will call upon the ladies in the guise of asking for help and would leer over their bodies and fill up their lungs with their scent. From what Alex could see, most of the guys were here for this very purpose, and from the looks of it, they were professionals. Maybe every time Theation released a job notification, they would come here. Alex felt they were like regulars to this place.

Alex, on the other hand, was more interested in the PR head. He looked around to locate her, but maybe she had already left when he was busy with his test. Dejected Alex, could only wait for the time to pass by so that he could get the opportunity to see her again.

But this time, time went by slowly like a turtle, and after what felt like ages, one of the ladies called out.

"Time's up,"

Chapter - 206The Rutherford breakfast table was a minefield of unspoken tension.George sat at the head, hidden behind his newspaper, but Alex could feel his father's eyes peering over the top, sharp and analytical. Damien’s hands were shaking so badly he had to clench them into fists. "You're not a student. You're not some naive kid."Alex turned to face him fully. The kitchen light was dim, casting half of his face in shadow. His eyes were no longer

Chapter - 203 As Alex and Damien cautiously followed the big man into the dimly lit alleyway, a sense of unease settled deep in their guts. The flickering lights cast eerie shadows, making the whole place feel like a freaking horror movie. The big man, looking like a giant beast, led them further into the narrow space. "Alright, cough it up, you little prying rats. What the hell do you think you're doing, snooping around in other people's business?" The big man roared at them, his voice booming with aggression. "Who sent you? Dogs of Hell?" Damien furrowed his brow in frustration. "Dogs of Hell? Who in the hell are they?" he retorted. "Look, man, like we said earlier, we are not here to cause any trouble. We're sorry if we crossed a line." Alex interrupted, trying to lighten the tension. "Dogs of Hell? That's a funny name," he remarked with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "Wait... If we are caught, we won't get out of it easily," Alex and Damien rode Alex's motorcycle and followed behind Audrey's car as soon as she left the house."Oh, come on, Alex! Don't be such a buzzkill. It's not like we're doing anything harmful. I just want to find out more about this Audrey girl and see what she's up to," Damien gently tapped Alex's shoulder and urged him to hurry up."I get it, curiosity can be compelling, but this feels wrong. On top of that, if we are caught, it won't end up with just a beating. Haven't you been on the internet lately? Even looking at girls in the gym apparently is a crime these days," Alex spoke up as he drove."Look, Alex, I get it. But Mom is involved in this.
