Jessica’s face turned cold the moment she heard where the necklace was found.
Without saying another word, she rushed upstairs. Her heels struck the floor sharply as she headed straight for Morgan’s room. The servants quickly moved aside.
She pushed the door open and saw the necklace was there. Lying right on the dressing table, glittering under the light as if nothing had ever happened.
Jessica froze for a second, then her expression twisted with anger. Behind her, Morgan and Travis hurried in as well, followed by a few servants who had witnessed the discovery.
Morgan’s eyes fell on the necklace, and her whole body stiffened.
“T-That… that’s… it, That is the necklace” she stammered.
Jessica picked it up and held it in the air.
“In your room,” she said coldly. “Right here. And you accused Marcus and even made a viral video. How could you be so vile”
Morgan’s face turned pale. “This is impossible… I… I put it in the safe… I didn’t even take it out… how did it get here?”
Jessica’s eyes narrowed.
“But here it is,” she said. “On your dressing table. Don’t even try to deny it now mom. Do You hate Marcus that much ”
Morgan shook her head repeatedly, panic rising in her voice. “No, no, this is wrong. Someone framed me! One of the servants must have put it here!”
Jessica’s patience snapped.
“Mother, stop already!” she said sharply. “No one knew the safe password except you. I don't even know it. So what are you saying now?”
Morgan opened her mouth but no words came out.
Her mind was in chaos. She clearly remembered locking the necklace in the safe. She had not taken it out at all. Then how… How did it end up here?
“This… this wasn’t here before…” she mumbled weakly. “I swear… I remember… This morning, it wasn’t here!”. She could recall that vividly.
But this time, even her own daughter did not believe her. Morgan’s eyes turned red, and tears started to fall.
“I’m telling the truth!” she cried. “Someone framed me! Why won’t you believe me?!”
Jessica cut her off coldly. “Enough. Stop pretending to be a victim here. The real victim is Marcus”
Just then, her phone vibrated.
She looked down, and the moment she saw the message, her face changed.
It was from her secretary. She sent her the company stock chart. Her company’s stock line was dropping sharply.
“Damn it…” Jessica muttered under her breath.
She looked up at Morgan, her expression full of anger.
“Because of your post, the company stock has already dropped ten percent,” she said. “Ten percent in less than an hour. Do you understand what that means?”
Morgan froze. Jessica’s voice became even colder.
“You are deleting that post right now. And you will explain online that this was a misunderstanding.”
Morgan’s face twisted.
“I won’t apologize to that useless—”
“You will,” Jessica cut in. “I will not let you play with my company for the sake of your pride.”
Morgan trembled with anger and humiliation, but when she saw Jessica’s expression, she knew there was no room to argue. Also, the family source of income was on the line.
With shaking hands, she took out her phone.Tears rolled down her face as she opened her account.
Slowly, reluctantly, she deleted the previous post and wrote a new one, saying that the necklace had been found and the incident was a misunderstanding.
Though, she did not apologize to Marcus. Her pride wouldn't..
But the post was enough to calm the public for now. Jessica watched until the post was uploaded, then turned away immediately.
“I’m going to the company,” she said.
Without waiting for a reply, she left the room. She needed to deal with the plummeting stock price as quickly as possible.
Aa as soon as she left, Morgan sat down heavily on the chair, still wiping her tears, her face full of resentment.
“I don’t understand… I really don’t understand… How did this happen… i didn't put it there”
Travis stood nearby, his expression serious. But inside, his heart was beating fast. The orchestrator of all this. The one who took the necklace and later place it in Morgan’s room
When no one was looking earlier, he had secretly taken the necklace from the safe and placed it on Morgan’s dressing table. This way, the police won't be involved. And it worked!.
He then stepped closer and spoke in a low voice.
“Mrs. Morgan… I believe you,” he said. “You would never make such a mistake. I'm sure someone frame you”
Morgan looked up at him, eyes red. So delighted to see that someone finally took her side.
“Then how did it appear there?”
Travis frowned as if thinking deeply.
“…Could it be Marcus?” he said slowly. “What if he planned all of this? Maybe he knew we would accuse him, so he arranged for the necklace to appear here later.”
Morgan’s eyes widened.
Travis continued, pretending to reason it out.“It’s possible one of the servants is working with him. Maybe he wants the company to get ruined as revenge for throwing him out. ”
Morgan’s face darkened again. Seeing sense in it.
Travis crossed his arms and pretended to think carefully, his brows tightly furrowed as if he were analyzing every detail.
“Something about this isn’t right,” he said slowly. “Think about it. Marcus managed to hire the best lawyer in the entire city in less than a day. Do you know how hard it is to even get an appointment with Richard & Associates? Ordinary people wait weeks just to speak with an assistant.”
Morgan wiped her tears and looked at him.
“That’s true…” she muttered.
Travis nodded,
“And Marcus has no money. Everyone knows that. If he didn’t steal the necklace, where would he get the money to hire someone like Richard? The only explanation… is that he planned this.”
Morgan’s eyes widened.
“He must have been preparing this for a long time, not just today. Maybe he knew you would suspect him, so he set everything up in advance. Then he secretly put the necklace back here to make you look like the one who lied.”
Morgan’s face turned red with anger.
“Yes… yes, that must be it!” she said. “That dirty boy! I knew he wasn’t as simple as he looked!”
Travis added another sentence. “Poor people can be desperate. When someone has nothing, they will do anything. I’m sure he hid the money somewhere long ago just so he could hire Richard when the time came.”
“That filthy orphan!” she shouted. “He dared to play tricks on me! I swear, I will make him pay for this!”
Travis lowered his head slightly so she wouldn’t see the faint smile that almost appeared on his lips.

Meanwhile, Jessica was in the car on the way to the company, her phone pressed tightly to her ear. She kept calling Marcus again and again. But he didn’t pick up.She wanted him to delete his post as well and reduce the damage.
Finally, after more than a dozen calls, the line connected.
Marcus answered.
Jessica spoke immediately, her tone sharp and arrogant.
“Why didn’t you pick my calls?” she demanded.
On the other end, Marcus' voice sounded calm.
“I’m busy.” The indifferent reply made her frown.
“I don’t care what you’re doing,” she said. “Delete that post right now. The necklace has been found. This whole thing was a misunderstanding. Why are you acting so irrational? Before, you would have called me first instead of making a scene online.”
Marcus let out a low, scornful laugh.
“You and your mother haven’t even apologized yet, and you want me to delete the post?”
His voice turned colder.
“I won’t delete anything.”

Marcus arrived at the office within the hour, After he and Natalie agreed to meeg there. He found Natalie at her desk, scrolling through the same news reports that had ruined his morning. She looked up and offered a small, practiced smile, but he was in no mood for pleasantries. "Why is Jessica bankrupt because of that scammer?" he asked, closing the door behind him. "You said you would deal with it." Natalie sighed and leaned back in her chair. "I thought I did. I don't know how he got released and still went ahead to scam her." Marcus studied her face for a long moment. The lie was obvious. He had known Natalie for years, and one thing he knew for certain was that she never left loose ends. She was thorough to a fault. The idea that she would let something slip through her fingers was almost laughable. "Come on, Natalie. I know you. You are not that clumsy. Don't tell me you never did anything." She held his gaze for a while before finally dropping the act. "Okay, fine. I didn'

Chapter 146
Travis quickly shook his head, panic written all over his face. "Jessica, listen to me! That's only what Mr. Smith told me. I believed everything he said too. I got fooled just like you." He took a step closer, his voice filled with desperation. "Think about it. If I were part of his scam, why would I still be here? Why wouldn't I have disappeared with him?" Jessica's eyes were bloodshot from crying, but they burned with anger. "So now what?" she snapped. "You were the one who convinced me to invest! You kept defending him every single time I had doubts. If it wasn't for you, I would never have handed over my money." Travis bit his lips. She pointed toward the front door. "So you would better find him and get every cent of my money back. Until then, pack your things and get out of my house!" Mrs. Morgan immediately stepped between them. "Jessica, calm down," she pleaded. "Travis is a victim too. Mr. Smith deceived him as well. You can't just throw him out." Jessica turned t
Chapter 144
Jessica refused to calm down even after the security guards surrounded her. "I said call the police!" she shouted hysterically. "I'll expose all of you!" Seeing that she refused to leave peacefully, the guards finally contacted the authorities. Twenty minutes later, Jessica and Natalie were both seated inside a nearby police station. Jessica pointed angrily at Natalie across the desk. "She's lying! She's preventing me from meeting Mr. Smith. He's one of the Langstone board leaders, and she's abusing her authority to keep me away from him!" The officer behind the desk looked from Jessica to Natalie. Natalie sighed, already exhausted. "Officer, there is no board leader named Mr. Smith at Langstone. In fact, there has never been one." Jessica slammed both palms onto the desk. "Stop lying! I met him! He introduced himself! I even met several other board members that day!" Natalie folded her arms. "And every single one of them was a scammer." Jessica glared at her. The officer

Natalie was just stepping out of her sleek black car, adjusting her tailored blazer as she prepared to enter the building. Natalie turned at the noise. The moment she spotted Jessica, her expression hardened. She tried to walk past, but Jessica darted in front of her, blocking her path. “Hey, wait!” Natalie stopped, visibly annoyed. She frowned deeply. “What the heck is this? What do you think you are doing?” Jessica stood her ground, breathing heavily. “I requested to meet you last time and you refused. Now here we are.” Natalie’s eyes flashed with irritation. “That should have given you common sense that I don’t want to see you!” “Look, I’m not here to cause a scene,” Jessica insisted, though
Chapter 142
Marcus’s head throbbed as a high-pitched ringing filled his ears. He tried to open his eyes, but they were heavy at first, so he had to do it slowly… very slowly. As he did, light flooded in and blinded him for a moment. Everything was blurry. Then, little by little, shapes began to emerge and come into focus. A soft voice pierced through the haze beside him. “Marcus? Are you okay? Marcus, are you hearing me?” The words anchored him. He blinked hard, forcing his vision to sharpen. White walls, fluorescent lights, the faint smell of antiseptic and clean linen. He was in a hospital room, lying on a crisp hospital bed with monitors beeping steadily around him. Doctors in white coats hovered nearby, checking IV lines and reading charts. And right beside him sat Natalie, her face etched with worry, eyes red-rimmed from lack of sleep. He groaned, instinctively trying to push himself up. Pain lanced through his body, but he kept moving until Natalie’s hands pressed firmly against
