Marcus’s attitude made Jessica ’s face darken instantly. For a moment she almost lost her temper, but she forced herself to calm down. This was not the time to argue. The company was already in chaos, the stock was falling. She could not let this get worse.

She took a slow breath and spoke again, this time trying to sound more reasonable.

“Marcus, listen. This was a misunderstanding,” she said. “My mother was the one to blame and she already deleted her post also. The necklace was found. The reason we suspected you was because you suddenly left the house without saying anything. Anyone would think something was wrong.”

There was silence on the other end. Then Marcus’s voice came, flat and cold.

“So you accused me of theft… just because I left?”

“That’s not what I meant,” Jessica a said quickly. “You know how my mother is. She was angry. And you disappearing like that made everything look suspicious. If you had stayed, none of this would have happened.”

Charles just smiled, couldn't believe somehow, she was blaming him.

Jessica clenched her fingers around the phone. She spoke again, her voice lower.

“…We are sorry, Marcus.”

The words came out stiff, as if she wasn’t used to saying them. “Please. Just delete the post. The situation is getting out of control.”

On the other end, Marcus didn’t speak immediately. For a second, he almost thought he heard wrong.

Sorry? Jessica … actually apologized?

A faint, surprised smile appeared on his lips, but it didn’t reach his eyes.

“So,” he said quietly. “You can apologize after all.”

Jessica pretended not to hear the sarcasm.

“As long as you delete the post, everything can go back to normal, We don’t need to make this bigger than it is.”

She paused, then added the words she thought would definitely make him soften no matter what.

“If you agree… we can go to City Hall tomorrow.”

Marcus’s brows moved slightly.

Jessica continued, as if offering him something generous.

“We will register the marriage. Isn’t that what you always wanted? We can keep living together like before and become couples. Just delete the post and come back.”

Marcus couldn't hold it and laughed. He was in disbelief Jessica a was in delusion he would come back .

Jessica frowned. “What’s funny?”

“I never thought…” Marcus said quietly. “I never thought you could be this foolish.”

Jessica ’s expression froze.

His voice turned colder with every word.

“Yes. Marrying you was once my greatest wish. I waited for that day for years. I did everything you asked, everything you wanted, just hoping you would agree to it. I stood up 9 times because of it. ”

He paused.

“But that was before. Not anymore. I don't fucking care again, We already broke up, Jessica . And that is it!”

He spoke the words slowly, clearly, as if she needed to hear them one by one.

“Do you not understand what ‘breakup’ means?”

Jessica ’s chest tightened.

“But… you love me, You always loved me. You wanted to be my husband. That was your biggest dream.”

“Not anymore. I just realized how foolish I was, and I wouldn't be like that again! ”

The two words landed like a slap.

“Marcus___”.

“And I’m not deleting the post,” he added calmly.

Jessica ’s face turned pale.

“Marcus please, why….”

The call ended immediately as Charles hung it up.

She stared at the screen. Then she realized the line was not only disconnected. She had been blocked also.

Jessica slowly lowered the phone, her brows tightly furrowed.

“What the heck, Marcus blocked me??”.

She couldn't believe all this was happening. Marcus had loved her for so many years. No matter what she did, he had never spoken to her like this before. He had never hung up on her, never mind blocking her.

She couldn’t understand it.

Why was he acting like this?Wasn’t it just that she had missed the appointment to register their marriage? Was something so trivial really worth getting this angry over?.

Jessica was still staring at her phone, unable to understand what had just happened.

Meanwhile Marcus smirked as he hit the blocked button. Something healed in him

Then his phone rang again.

He glanced at the caller ID and raised an eyebrow. DAMIEN.

He answered quickly.

The moment the call connected, Damien’s loud voice burst through the speaker.

“Yo! You really went all out this time!” he said. “I just saw everything online. You actually went hard on Jessica ? Are you crazy? You are the one who’s been madly in love with her for years! Why go so hard?”

Damien kept talking without stopping.

“I’m serious, man, I can’t believe it. You are making a post, hiring lawyers, posting legal letters… who are you and what did you do with the Marcus I know?”

Ethab just scoffed.

He paused, then asked curiously,

“And wait, how the hell did you even hire a top lawyer like that? Do you know how hard it is to get Richard & Associates? People with money can’t even get an appointment.”

“It wasn’t a big deal,” Marcus said casually. “I helped him with a small favor once. Just a coincidence. So he helped me with this also”

Damien replied, “Wow… oh, this makes sense now”.

Marcus then added, “I already decided. I’m breaking up with Jessica .”

There was complete silence on the other end. Then Damien suddenly shouted,

“What?!”, His voice was full of shock, but also excitement. “You are serious? You are really done with her?”

“Yes.”

Damien laughed loudly.

“I knew it! I always knew that woman wasn’t good for you. Jessica is too selfish. Everything has to be about her. You gave her everything and she still treated you like you were nothing.”

He sounded more and more pleased as he talked. Marcus realized people knew how bad Jessica was, but only him refused and remained blind because of his love to her.

“Man, this is great news. Honestly, I thought you were under some kind of spell. The way you loved her, it was like voodoo or something. I’m convinced whatever she used on you finally wore off.”

Marcus couldn’t help but smile faintly.

Damien continued happily,

“That’s it, we have to celebrate this. I'm so happy, you are coming to eat with me tonight.”

“Celebrate?” Marcus asked.

“Of course, celebrate! My brother is finally free,” Damien said. “Come to the restaurant tomorrow evening. I’m on shift anyway.”

He added proudly,

Damien was a waiter at the Red Dragon, one of the most famous restaurants in the entire city. Getting a table there was never easy, especially at night.

Marcus thought for a moment, then stated, “Alright, I will come.”

Jessica arrived at the entrance, where only one security guard was on duty. “Hey, you! Are you even doing your job properly? How could you let someone without clearance enter this place? It’s meant for elite people. Do you want to get sacked?” The guard was surprised by her outburst. “I properly check everyone before they enter. Who dared to sneak in?!” At that moment, Ms. Leah arrived with Julia and Marcus walking slowly behind her. Jessica immediately pointed at Marcus. “That man! He doesn’t have clearance. You can ask him yourself.” As soon as the guard’s eyes fell on Marcus, he instantly recognized him — the VIP and the man who had just gotten him promoted. He wanted to bow and address him as “Sir” right away, but Marcus winked at him. The guard understood that Marcus didn’t want his identity revealed, so he had to handle the situation carefully without exposing him. “You mean this man?” he asked. “Yes!” Ms. leah snapped. “He was clearly told he couldn’t enter earlier, ye

Who is this man? Is he a boxer too?” Julia was shocked as hell, but she immediately rushed to Marcus and checked his eyes. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?” Marcus wiped his face and scoffed, “No, not much. I just have to clean my face. Let me go to the washroom.” He wanted to clean the blood off his face. Ms. Leah doubled-crossed him. “What the heck did you just do! Do you know the gravity of what you’ve done? You knocked Fredrick down!” “How is that an issue? We had a proper spar and he lost,” Marcus said simply. “And you’re proud? I get that maybe you’re some secret boxer or something, but this is Fredrick we

You dare cause trouble for my daughter. So you better go on your knees and apologize to Frederick right now.”Marcus frowned. “Why should I do that when he’s clearly the one in the wrong? He’s still assaulting her by holding her wrist. If anyone should kneel, it should be him.”Ms. Leah glared. “What are you on about? If you don’t kneel, what will you do? You’re just a poor
