Chapter 14
Author: Oldwell
Skylar squinted, and anyone could feel the aura of success emanating from him. Then, he said, “In Neptuna, Elias Bowen and I are the only business partners qualified to compete. So, there’s a chance Ms. Lotus will choose us. You need to get closer to Ms. Lotus so we can officially become business partners.”

Just the thought of hooking up with Jean Lotus excited Ben. She was the daughter of Centurio.

Then, Ben asked, “What about Miranda Bowen?”

He had accompanied Miranda for almost a year and thought he could capture her heart with Adeptus Gale’s assistance. However, a man came out of the blue and messed everything up. Since he had put in so much effort, he felt unsure if he could get Miranda to sleep with him.

Skylar smiled faintly. “It won’t be affected. I ordered Adeptus Gale to call his senior. They will drug Miranda. This time, we will not fail. When her sickness resurfaces, you can win her heart easily. Be careful with your relationship with her. If Elias finds out, we will be at a disadvantage.”

After a pause, Skylar continued, “Right. What’s the deal with Remus Cosby?”

When he came back, Ben said Bald Richard would get the job done.

Hearing that, Ben excitedly said, “I was about to tell you. Bald Richard has him trapped at Draculus Court. He won’t live for long.”

Ben was happy just thinking about hooking up with Jean, maintaining his relationship with Miranda, and even comforting Kylie. These three ladies were incredibly gorgeous.

“Let’s go!”

Skylar nodded and walked out the door.

As they sat in the car and drove out of the villa, a Rolls-Royce came in their direction.

Looking at the license plate, Skylar said, “Is that Anthony’s car? Drive to the side, quick! Make way for him!”

The driver quickly drove to the side, and the Rolls-Royce drove past them.

“Huh?” Ben was startled and shuddered.

“What’s the matter?” Skylar noticed his weird reaction.

Ben shook his head with a wry smile. “I saw the person in the backseat. He looked like Remus Cosby. I thought it was him. But it couldn't be. He has to be dead by now.”

After hearing that, Skylar couldn't care less since it was truly impossible. But then, Ben’s phone rang. It was Kylie calling. He quickly changed his tone. “Ms. Cox, I’m sorry…”

“Thank you!” Kylie had spoken before Ben had a chance to finish. She was excited because she had called Remus after the crowd dispersed and the commotion was over. It turned out that he was fine.

With Remus’ safety, Kylie owed her thanks to Ben. She thought that this matter had once again proved how powerful the Stuarts were.

Kylie continued, “Mr. Stuart, we just met today, but you were still willing to help me. You’re a kind man. Remus wouldn’t have a chance at even leaving Draculus Court if it weren't for you. When are you free? I want to treat you to a meal to show my gratitude and discuss business.”

Upon hearing that, Ben was stupefied, thinking, “Remus Cosby isn’t dead? So I wasn’t mistaken? Impossible!”

Remus returned to the Imperial Villa. He didn’t want to come back, but he promised to accompany Jean to the banquet.

When he opened the door and entered, he was stunned in place. In the living room, Jean was changing. She was only wearing a tight skirt, and it was short. Her legs were exposed, and the upper half of her body was bare…

Jean was also surprised to see him. However, she reacted quickly and covered herself. She laughed, “Remus, you’ve come back at the right time. Come and help me pick out an outfit. Which do you think fits me better?”

She picked up a few tight clothes and tried them on in front of the mirror.

It was Remus' first time seeing such a scene, and he could feel a hot current in his nose. He quickly pinched his nose and turned around.

Jean laughed. “Oh? Are you embarrassed? It’s not like you haven’t seen it before. Come on, help me out. It’s too difficult to choose.”

Remus cursed in his heart. “That Working Emperor Adam Jones had been hiding a beauty at home when he went to prison, but he still complained!”

Remus replied, “Don’t joke with me. You’re my…sister-in-law!”

At the Underhill Prison, he was the youngest. He had to address her like that to draw a clear line between them.

Jean paused and joked, “Don’t you want some pizza rolls?”

Feeling like he might lose control of himself, Remus ran out of the mansion.

“Hahaha…” Jean was amused by his actions.

Five minutes later, Jean was dressed and walked out of the Imperial Villa. She looked angry. “How are your driving skills? Can you drive me there? If you do well, I’ll cook for you again.”

Remus snatched the car keys and started the car. “Where to?”

“Neptuna Hotel for Jean Lotus’ meet-up!”

What a coincidence… Neptuna Hotel?

That was the biggest hotel in Neptuna. The most important events would be held there, including Jean’s meet-up.

Right then, there was an abundance of luxury cars parked downstairs while guests swarmed upstairs. Those invited did not only consist of wealthy families in Neptuna, but also big shots from other cities.

Remus parked the car in the parking lot and went up with Jean. The whole way, Jean observed Remus. She was happy when she saw his calm demeanor and thought, “As expected from a guy who could borrow the mansion from Adam Jones. He isn’t nervous at such a big event.”

Then, she took Remus' arm and asked, “Remus, there are many rich and important big shots here. Aren’t you nervous? How come I’m more nervous than you?”

Still, Remus remained calm and did not push her away. After all, he was her partner for tonight’s banquet. He comforted her, saying, “Don’t worry. No one will dare mess with you if I’m here!”

This was Jean’s meet-up. He was here today to cancel their marriage agreement so, before that went down, he was still her fiance.

Jean blinked and turned into an admirer. “Remus, you’re so manly. Hearing what you said makes me want to just depend on you for the rest of my life.”

Remus was speechless at that.

“Remus Cosby!” Suddenly, someone shouted in the banquet hall.

A person walked over aggressively. It was none other than Mr. Lawson, who worked with Kylie. Most of the guests looked over at the sudden commotion.

Mr. Lawson irritably shouted, “Liar! Felon! How dare you come here and make trouble? I thought you were a big shot. It turns out you’re just a stupid thief who got out of prison!”

Moments ago, Mr. Lawson raised a toast to Elias and talked to him about Remus. He did not expect Elias to immediately turn cold and say, “Don’t speak of that scoundrel.” He then hinted to Mr. Lawson that Remus just came out of prison. So, when Mr. Lawson thought of what happened that day, he was enraged.

“Remus, it seems you’ve made an enemy,” Jean said softly.

Hearing that, Remus frowned. He looked at Mr. Lawson as he was walking over and unhappily said, “Speak softer. You’re too loud.”

“Humph!” Mr. Lawson snorted. “Why should I speak softer to a useless scum like you? I want everyone here to hear me! Everybody, this man is a charlatan! He cheated a contract worth tens of millions from me! If my guess is right, he’s here tonight so he can continue to cheat others!”

Immediately, everyone was attracted by the sound and looked over in astonishment.

“A charlatan? How did he get in?”

“Look at the way he’s dressed. I bet he’s at the bottom of society.”

“A swindler caught at the scene. How interesting.”

Remus frowned deeper and said, “Mr. Lawson, you need proof before you speak. How have I deceived you?”

Mr. Lawson was stunned. Indeed he did not have proof because he voluntarily gave Kylie that contract. Another idea came to mind. “Getting proof is simple. With your background, you wouldn’t even be able to get in here. Show me your invitation. Hand it over!”

He looked past Jean as he thought liars were skilled at deceiving beautiful women. Moreover, it would be easier to carry out his job with a pretty lady as an attractive distraction.

“I don’t have it,” Remus said calmly. “However, I’m not here for the meet-up. I’m here for Jean Lotus!”

Without any hesitation, Roman released his energy rapidly, rushing toward the border to face the deities head-on.Faced with the sudden attack, the deities were visibly taken aback. While they had worries, their concerns were primarily about whether they could safely retreat, not about the potential of a fight breaking out. In fact, it had never crossed their minds that Roman would make the first move.Yet now, Roman dared to charge at them by himself. Was he not afraid to die?But Dawson's reaction was different. As Roman set off, Dawson also released his energy and moved toward the border, focusing intently on the hundreds of deities ahead. His eyes was filled with fierce determination and the willingness to face death head-on.In fact, this was a strategy that had been planned ahead of time.Given the situation had reached this point, there was no way to avoid it. Amez wouldn't let Darsia go, and certainly not Halvor. Therefore, knowing Halvor's personality, he would have no ch

Under everyone's gaze, a figure emerged behind Dawson, towering and imposing. Dressed in an imperial robe and wearing a crown, his features were stern and commanding. When he spoke, his voice carried an overwhelming power that seemed impossible to resist, and the energy emanating from him was terrifying. It felt as if the weight of the heavens was pressing down on them. The deities couldn't help but wonder who this was. Why did someone this powerful still exist in Darsia?Dawson was the first to snap back to reality. He turned and respectfully said, "Emperor!"Roman gave a small nod and looked forward again. "You insignificant ones, kneel and listen to my words."Emperor? This must be the Underworld Emperor! The deities all showed expressions of fear. Could it be that Dawson wasn't the Underworld Emperor, but one of the ghost kings? How could a ghost king, who was on the same level as them, actually kill Micah? How was that possible? The hundreds of deities at the back were star

The entire place fell silent.Everyone had witnessed the scene, but no one could believe their eyes. Even though Micah had vanished, they thought it must be another trick, convinced there must be something more coming. The same applied to Dawson, who became even more cautious after that, worried that Micah might suddenly appear out of thin air to deliver a lethal strike. After all, Micah was one of the 12 subordinates under Halvor, a position equivalent to that of an immortal emperor or ghost king. Furthermore, Micah hadn't been through a grueling battle and was still in peak condition. On the other hand, first of all, Dawson no longer had his avatar and was thus no longer invincible. Secondly, his energy hadn't fully returned to its peak, and it was at about 80 to 90 percent right now.In such a situation, it was impossible that he could kill Micah with a single strike. So, Micah must have a trick up his sleeve.Everyone watched and waited. In the blink of an eye, 15 minutes ha

Micah scoffed and added, "Darsia has never been a forbidden place. I come and go as I please. Since you've decided to block the way, I'll take you on. Go ahead and make your move!"Hearing that, the hundreds of deities behind him admired him with eyes full of reverence. Although they were initially apprehensive, seeing him step forward gave them more confidence. This was exactly how a deputy deity should carry themselves.Meanwhile, the other five deities felt a pang in their hearts, realizing they should have stepped up.Although Dawson was imposing, they had the strength of hundreds of deities on their side. Losing might be embarrassing, but it wouldn't be fatal, and the potential benefits would far outweigh the risks. They regretted not stepping forward now.Dawson was stunned. It felt like Micah was considering going head-to-head with Dawson on his own. This was a choice only a fool would make. They had the advantage in numbers, and Dawson was wondering if he could at least ta

"Agreed!""You're right!"The other three deities agreed. In their eyes, Darsia was heretical. Although it had once been glorious and could rival Amelicon, that was in the past. Now, it was fragmented and unsightly, especially after Grant was humiliated and fled back to Darsia in disgrace. This made them see Darsia as weak and incapable of retaliation. If Darsia were still in its prime, Grant would have sought revenge by now. If someone didn't dare to retaliate after being insulted, they weren't even worth their attention."But..." Micah Nichols, the deity who had just suggested continuing to divide the troops, spoke again."What’s wrong?""Do you still want to split the troops?""Aren't you being overly cautious?"The other deities responded with slight displeasure, questioning why objections were still being raised even after the decision had been made. If Micah still wanted to continue splitting the troops, he could do so by himself."You misunderstood," Micah said. "What I

"You..." Halvor was so infuriated by Francis' words that he almost exploded.Clearly, he was calling Halvor Amez's lackey.Through gritted teeth, he said, "It's not debates that decide everything, but strength. Celestial Sovereign, since you are so stubborn, don't blame me for being merciless. I hope that when you're kneeling in front of me later, you'll still be able to maintain that stubborn attitude! All deities, get ready!"He quickly gave the order, realizing that there was no point in continuing the conversation since he couldn't win the argument. After all, the mission here was simply to eliminate Darsia, so it was best to just proceed with attacking.Hearing that command, the rest of the deities all shuddered. As they thought about facing Francis, anxiety began to brew within them. His overwhelming energy was simply terrifying. However, at this point, there was no option to retreat. They had no choice but to muster their energy. At that moment, their energy converged into

It wasn't just Halvor. The hundreds of deities behind him all exhibited arrogant expressions, completely disregarding Grant and Darsia. Although they were forced to come by Amez, it didn't stop them from looking down on Grant.Grant's energy surged out. Even though he hadn't fully recovered since expending all his energy in the battle with Halvor, he had no other choice now. In a situation like this, it was the brave who would triumph.Seeing how angry Grant was, Halvor gave a mocking laugh. He acknowledged that Grant's energy was indeed powerful, but that was only in a one-on-one setting. At this moment, however, Halvor had hundreds of deities backing him up, each one capable of crushing Grant with their energy alone. As expected, the hundreds of deities behind him released their energy at once. It came crashing down like the heavens had fallen.Even though he was still some distance away, Grant could feel the pressure. However, to protect Darsia, he didn't have the choice to tak

Time passed by. Darsia was engulfed in silence, only disturbed by a growing sense of anger. This anger became increasingly intense, driven by both recent grievances and old scores. The old scores stemmed from when Halvor initially attacked Grant. Meanwhile, the recent grievance was that Halvor was currently coming to Darsia. If they were unhappy with Darsia for their own reasons, it would be one thing. They might have personal issues that justified them taking action. However, they were acting under the heavy pressure from Amelicon, clearly positioning Darsia as a nation they could easily overpower. This belittling from a psychological standpoint was bound to cause deeper resentment. However, amidst the silence, Kaiser personally led the military forces westward secretly. They stationed their troops at Darsia's border, ready to enter enemy territory as soon as conflict broke out.The sky grew dark before it was soon lightened with the first signs of dawn. Finally, they could feel

At this moment, even Francis' expression twisted out of anger. He had encountered ignorance before, but never to this extent. Amez was clearly coming to destroy Talonia, yet Brandon was still lying to himself!Kaiser could no longer contain his anger and sternly said, "Mr. Nielson, I hope you understand that as Talonia's leader, you should not let personal feelings influence your decisions."You represent all the people of Talonia. Do not let a momentary lapse in judgment lead to consequences that your citizens have to bear!"But Brandon laughed heartily, clearly enjoying the sight of Kaiser getting upset. "I won't make any mistakes. No one in this world understands judgment better than I do. And as for my citizens having to pay the price, well, my goodness, so what if they do? After all, I'm Talonia's president, aren't I?"Kaiser was on the verge of flying off the handle at this point.
