Joaquin pushed open the door to his home, rolling his shoulders to ease the tension that had settled in his muscles after the long journey. The place was quiet—too quiet.

Then he saw Jasmine.

She stood near the window, arms crossed, staring outside as if lost in thought. The dim lantern light beside her cast a soft glow on her face, accentuating the dark circles beneath her eyes.

Joaquin frowned. Something felt… off.

At the sound of the door closing behind him, she turned and immediately forced

The vision refused to leave Joaquin’s mind.He couldn’t wrap his head around the possibility that he truly came from a demon. And whatever reason that creature had for revealing itself to him now—he knew it was nothing good.“Joaquin. Talk to me. Please,” Serena said softly. She herself was restless after everything that had happened. Her heart was still pounding hard in her chest, as if danger had not fully passed.Joaquin was too quiet.Yes, he had always been serious—but never like this.Something was weighing heavily on him.Joaquin let out a long sigh.“I… I feel like everything about me is wrong, Serena,” he admitted. “Sometimes it feels like I was never supposed to exist.”Serena blinked in shock.“What? Don’t say that, Joaquin. There’s nothing wrong with you.”Joaquin shook his head slowly.“I don’t know anymore, Serena. Everything just feels… wrong.”Serena l

Joaquin blinked repeatedly. The man standing before him was red—not burning, but his skin was an unnatural, vivid crimson. His hair was long, his body powerfully built. He wore no shirt, only black trousers clinging to his muscular frame. He was grinning from ear to ear, eyes fixed on Joaquin as if he were prey.“U-Umbreal?”The creature stepped closer.“Yes, Son.”Joaquin forced his body to move. He staggered back, raising his hands in defense.“N-No… how?”“You still don’t understand what happened to you?” Umbreal said calmly. “You are my son through Jackson Villareal. I was inside his body when I was with your mother—Lucy.”He even closed his eyes briefly when he spoke Lucy’s name, as if savoring it.Joaquin’s fists clenched, his teeth grinding in fury.“Don’t mention her name!” he shouted. He lunged forward—but with a single gesture, Umbreal froze him in place. Joaquin’s e

Over the days Joaquin spent with the three of them, he slowly saw just how close they were. They were like real siblings—laughing, arguing, protecting one another without hesitation. And Lucy…Lucy was far kinder than he had ever imagined. So kind that it hurt.Joaquin couldn’t help but feel a quiet sadness. If only he had grown up with her…If only she had been by his side…Maybe his life would have taken a completely different path.“What?! You’re giving everything to Jackson, Dad?!”Joaquin froze mid-step.He had been about to pass by the Villareal library, coming from the second floor where Jackson had given him a temporary room. The voice came from inside.“It was the ring that chose him, Javier,” Don Ramon Villareal replied calmly. “And you know we must honor that.”“But you know Jackson knows nothing about the family business!” Javier protested. “He do

Joaquin had no idea how he was supposed to process what he had just learned. The woman walking in front of him was Lucy Baldoza. His biological mother.Everything about their surroundings felt wrong—wrong in a way that made his chest tighten.Tall plants towered over them on both sides of the path. When he finally looked closely, he realized they were corn stalks, planted in long, orderly rows. The narrow road they were walking on wasn’t even paved.“What exactly happened to you, Mister?” Lucy asked.Joaquin swallowed.“Actually… I don’t know.”Lucy raised an eyebrow slightly and glanced at him again.Even her posture felt different. She was wearing a long, floral dress—past her knees, loose and simple.Nothing like the modern clothes from his time.If he was right…He had gone back to the past.Veyrix had sent him back.Joaquin shook his head. But I already killed him.Veyrix had been gone for a long time.

Joaquin felt as if his head had suddenly doubled in size from what he had just heard.Son?Hadn’t he only just met his real father? How many fathers was he supposed to have?“You’ve grown up so well, my son,” the voice spoke again. It was impossibly deep—so deep it sounded as if it were rising from beneath the earth itself. He still couldn’t see where the voice was coming from, yet fear had already crawled into his bones.Joaquin clenched his fists.“Who are you?!” he shouted. “What are you doing to my father?! Where am I?!”The voice chuckled, low and amused.“Your father? I am your real father, Joaquin.”Joaquin staggered back, shaking his head.“N-No… my father is out there! So send me back!”Another soft laugh.“You truly believe that? Then allow me to bring you back… to the very beginning.”Before Joaquin could react, a face suddenly emerged in

Joaquin stood frozen as he stared at the back of the man in the wheelchair. The old man was angled toward the glass window, silently watching the sweeping view of the mountains. For a moment, Joaquin couldn’t make himself move. What if the man didn’t recognize him? What if he didn’t accept him? What if… he was wrong again?A storm of questions spun inside his mind, each one heavier than the last, and none with an answer he could bear to imagine. He flinched slightly when he felt someone latch onto his arm.Serena. She gave him a soft smile—as if she felt every fear trembling inside him.“Go to him,” she whispered.Joaquin inhaled deeply. “What if—”Serena tapped his arm, firm but comforting. “No what-ifs. Just go talk to him.”One more breath. One nod.He forced his feet to move.Every step made his heartbeat louder. By the time he reached the man, it felt like time itself held its breath. The resemblance was undeniable. The same nose. The same jawline. The same presence. Only the eye
