After stepping out of the taxi, he walked straight toward the company building. His pace was steady, almost eager, yet his face stayed calm and unreadable.
Now and then, he smiled at people passing by, judging from their uniforms that they were company employees. Most ignored him outright. A few noticed him, only to shoot him annoyed looks, as if they had just seen a lunatic man.
After all, who in their right mind smiles at strangers they do not even know? For no particular reason?
Luke didn't mind. He is in a far greater mood now.
When he reached the gate, the excitement in his chest spiked the moment the massive building came into full view.
It was huge. Beautiful and elegant. Impossible to miss.
He stopped for a moment, taking in the structure and the sleek design. By his estimate, it had more than fifty floors.
“So impressive,” he muttered under his breath, genuinely awed.
He could not help but praise the architect in his mind. Whoever designed this place knew exactly what they were doing.
Not long after, a security guard approached him. Luke might not have noticed if the man had not spoken first.
“Do you need something, kid?” the guard asked, scanning him from head to toe. Then mockingly added, “Let me be clear. Begging is not allowed here.”
Luke’s expression changed in an instant. The excitement vanished, replaced by mild disappointment.
“I am not here to beg,” he replied calmly. “I am here to meet Mr. Bernard.”
“Oh yeah?” the guard sneered. “And which Saint Bernard would that be?”
Luke felt a flicker of irritation. “Bernard Bautista. President of ENDX Corp.”
The guard froze for a moment after hearing what Luke said. Then after a brief silence, the guard burst into laughter, drawing the attention of nearby employees.
“What did you say? Were you born a clown? That is the funniest thing I have heard all week.” the guard said, his laugh became even louder.
Some of the employees slowed down, curious. A few joined in, laughing without even knowing the reason.
Luke ignored the guard. Instead, he pulled out his old keypad model phone, and dialed Bernard’s number which he had not even saved in his contacts.
Another guard walked over. “What is going on here?”
His eyes immediately locked onto Luke, examining him just like the first guard did.
Luke wore nothing more than a plain white shirt, faded pants, and an old pair of rubber shoes. The second guard quickly assumed he was another beggar trying his luck, or maybe someone hoping to apply as a janitor.
But he did not even have documents with him. Neither have a bag.
“So what is his story?” the second guard asked.
“He says he is here to meet Mr. Bautista,” the first guard replied, laughing again. “Can you believe that?”
That was all it took. More employees started laughing once they understood the joke.
“What? He wants to meet President Bernard?” one employee whispered in disbelief.
“Yeah right,” another scoffed. “Even we employees cannot get close to him. And this guy thinks he can?”
“He must be losing it,” someone else said. “Or maybe he is just trying to sneak in. Tough luck.”
The second guard shook his head. This had to be a lunatic who wandered into the wrong place.
Bernard Bautista was a famous businessman. There was no way someone like Luke would be meeting him.
“Alright. Thanks, Mr. Bernard.“
Luke had just finished speaking into his phone.
Both guards froze, brows furrowed as they stared at him.
“What?” Luke asked, frowning slightly.
They looked at each other, then burst out laughing again.
“He really is crazy!” the first guard shouted, clutching his stomach.
Pretending to talk to Bernard was one thing. But using a keypad phone made it even funnier. As if Bernard Bautista would personally take his call.
That was rich.
“Kid, you are hilarious, I'll give you that.” the second guard said. “Now get lost.”
He waved his hand dismissively, pointing away from the building.
“And why should I leave?” Luke asked calmly, irritation creeping in. He raised one of his eyebrows. “I did not do anything wrong. Did I?”
The only thing wrong here was the way these people thought.
The first guard wiped tears from his eyes and even clapped sarcastically.
“Bravo. Really entertaining,” he said, then turned serious. “But let us stop the act. You are just another beggar hanging around here, right? We are not buying it. So scram.”
He waved his hand like he was shooing a stray dog.
Luke frowned. Was this really how employees of his company treated people? Judging others by their clothes alone?
What if someone poor wore expensive clothes? Would they suddenly be treated with respect? And what if a criminal dressed like a rich man? Would they let him in without question?
Luke let out a quiet sigh.
Fine. At least now he knew what his first move would be once his training began.
Employees like these guards did not belong in the company. One wrong insult to the wrong person could bring serious trouble. He would talk to Bernard about this.
He stayed where he was.
The second guard’s expression darkened. “Are you deaf? We told you to leave. If you do not, we will use force.”
His hand moved to the baton at his waist.
Luke said nothing. He crossed his arms and looked at them with complete indifference.
They had no idea who was standing in front of them. Honestly, it was almost funny.
Even if he told them his family owned the company, they would not believe him. There was no point wasting his breath.
“Are you testing us?” the second guard snapped, anger rising.
“Do whatever you want,” Luke said calmly. “I am not leaving until I speak with Mr. Bernard.”
The guards exchanged looks.
Was this guy serious? The audacity to keep throwing around the president’s name.
The first guard clenched his teeth. ‘Have he lost his mind?’ he thought.
“So you want to leave crippled, is that it?” he said coldly.
They were guards of a major corporation. They would not be humiliated by a nobody. Teaching him a lesson would do no harm. At least he would learn his place.
“Let us see how arrogant you are after this,” the second guard growled.
“That is right,” the first guard added, eyes wide. “You asked for it. Don't blame us.”
With batons in hand, both guards lunged at Luke. But before they could reach him, a sharp shout from behind stopped them cold.

Inside one of the VIP rooms, laughter echoed. Several men grinned wickedly as they stared at the waitress curled up on a long sofa. She hugged her knees while sobbing.“We hit the jackpot with this one, Douglas,” one of them said, licking his lips. “She looks untouched.”The waitress trembled harder. “Please,” she begged weakly, but only cruel laughter answered her.She pressed herself deeper into the corner when one of the men sat beside her. Her lips trembled, but no sound came out.“I hate it when people can’t even do a simple thing I ask them to do,” the man said playfully. He was shirtless, scars lining his arms. A flaming bird tattoo marked the back of his neck, smaller than the others but unmistakable. He was Douglas, the leader of these men.He reached for the waitress’ arm, smiling. “Don’t worry. You’ll enjoy your punishment.”Terror washed over her. With the last of her strength, she jumped up and ran toward the door. But she was blocked. One man shoved her back onto the cou
Chapter 14 - The Waitress

This was his first time entering a place like this as a customer.Despite being born into wealth, Luke had never lived a life of indulgence. From childhood until the age of fifteen, his world had been confined within the walls of their manor. His days were spent studying and training under renowned teachers and experts from different parts of the world. Knowledge was drilled into him like second nature. Discipline was his daily bread. At sixteen, he was thrown into a battlefield, with an active war ongoing. That was his third training.War was not kind. He faced brutal conditions and life-or-death trials. If not for his first and second training, he would have failed miserably. Instead, the experience sharpened him. Long-range combat, close combat, strategy, survival. Every skill he possessed was forged under pressure. After a year of war training, he was imme
Chapter 13 - Let’s Celebrate
After everything that happened at Light Metrobank and after several procedures that allowed Luke to regain access to his assets and funds with Louis’ help, here he was now, walking down the dormitory hallway with a relaxed smile, carrying take-out food in both hands. He looked lighter, almost carefree, as if a heavy weight had been lifted from his shoulders. When he entered their room, he immediately saw Tony lying on his bed, turned sideways, scrolling through videos on his phone. Luke frowned.Wasn’t it class time? Tony was supposed to be back by two.Luke placed the bags of food on the small table near the window. He had bought them for everyone in the dorm. He wanted to celebrate the end of his three-year poverty training with them, but he did not want to raise suspicions. That was why he only bought simple, inexpensive food.“Tony, let’s eat,” Luke said casually. “I brought take-out. Let’s save some for Dominic and Jacob.”Tony turned toward him and sat up. His eyes landed on the

“I’m not surprised,” Luke said coolly. “Looking down on others runs in the blood of people like you. That’s the real reason.”Reynold froze. He looked up in shock. Had Luke read his mind?He quickly lowered his head again when he saw the cold expression on Luke’s face. His discomfort deepened when Luke bent down to meet him at eye level.“I’m not angry because you insulted me,” Luke said evenly. “I’m used to people like you. What disgusts me is how you use your status to control the lives of those below you. You think you’re on top of the world. You believe you can do whatever you want, even ruin someone else’s life. To you, people from the lower class are just ants you can crush whenever you feel like it.”Silence swallowed the entire reception area.Even the onlooking clients felt the weight of Luke’s words. It hit too close to home. Many of them were exactly the same. Some, however, couldn’t help but admire Luke. Judg
Chapter 11 - Who Is He Exactly?
Once again, everyone was stunned.Even though some of them had already guessed that the man they thought was a beggar and the person Louis was waiting for were one and the same, it was still hard to digest the level of respect Louis showed him.‘Young Master of the Cruise family?’The same question echoed silently in everyone’s mind.“T-this…”Noel’s grip on Reynold’s arm loosened the moment Louis spoke those words. His restless eyes locked onto Luke’s face, staring so hard it was as if he had seen a ghost. Color drained from his face in seconds.“Are y-you…”The words died in Noel’s throat as his strength suddenly left him. His knees buckled, and his body gave way. He collapsed to the floor beside Louis, his head hanging low.“This can’t be happening,” he whispered before breaking down, sobbing like someone who had just lost everything. All his life, Noel had dreamed of one day being acknowledged by th

Everyone turned toward the elevator.A man in a blue double-breasted suit stood just outside the doors. Judging by the wrinkles on his forehead and the silver streaks in his hair, he was well past sixty. His face was expressionless, yet the authority he carried filled the space like a silent command. He did not need to speak to dominate the room. The man was none other than Louis Rivera.“What’s all this commotion?” he asked calmly, shifting his sharp gaze to Noel as he walked toward him.The anger Noel felt toward Luke instantly morphed into unease the moment he saw Louis. Shouldn’t the senior manager be in his office right now, waiting for the important client he mentioned earlier?“You see, Mr. Rivera,” Noel said quickly, straightening his posture, “This man tried to sneak inside the bank and claimed he was here to meet you. I believe he’s simply using your name to roam around the building.”Louis nodded slightly, as if acknowledging the explanation, though he was doing his best no
