Ch 9: The Mystery Island

"Umm?"

As though the blurry figure had just awakened from a long deep slumber, he glanced around in a daze. Suddenly, his hands froze mid-air, and he stood up abruptly. Then, raising his head, he fixed his gaze on the distant sky.

Due to the indistinct nature of his form, the expressions on his face and the light in his eyes were obscured. Still, as he stared into the distant sky, he let out a deep sigh and muttered, "Someone has been chosen by the Golden Dragon's Pearl. What changes will he bring to this world?"

Muttering to himself, he waved his hand and called out in a powerful voice, "Awaken, my subordinates. Head to the south and find the one who has been chosen by the Golden Dragon's Pearl. Since 'someone' has been selected to become the successor of the Golden Dragon, he must come to the Mystery Island and inherit the legacy left behind by my Godfather."

The moment he said those words, the gentle breeze in the void intensified, transforming into a fierce gust. In an instant, the sky darkened as ominous black clouds gathered overhead, and thunder began to rumble ominously.

Soon, snake-like lightning bolts surged across the sky, weaving through the black clouds and extending their branches in every direction. They mirrored the behavior of the mother lightning that spawned them.

Suddenly, the ground beneath trembled violently, and the deafening roars of demonic beasts and monsters echoed in the air of the entire Mystery Island.

What was truly remarkable was that, only moments ago, this island had been completely devoid of life. Yet now, the roars of terrifying demonic creatures filled the atmosphere, as though they had been summoned from the very depths of the island itself.

What does it mean?

Somehow, after the command of the blurry figure, demonic beasts and monsters had appeared out of nowhere, as if responding to his call.

Inside the palace, the tremors continued, and the once-silent royal chairs began to glow with a radiant light, revealing figures seated upon them. 

These individuals, who had been in a deep slumber, were momentarily disoriented but they quickly regained their senses. Without hesitation, they stood up and immediately knelt before the blurry figure, bowing deeply as they saluted, "Lord Devas!"

Devas looked at his people for a few seconds and then said in a deep voice, "The successor of the Golden Dragon has appeared. Being chosen by the Golden Dragon Pearl means having the qualification to obtain the legacy left behind by my Godfather. This Mystery Island, which was created by the Golden Dragon, finally has its own owner. The Golden Dragon had left the Mystery Island to my father and my father passed down it to me."

"If not for that earth-shattering incident, this Mystery Island would have been a place filled with vitality, hustle and bustle, and liveliness. However, that incident destroyed everything. The rest of us had to go into a deep slumber in order to survive."

"According to the prophecy, once the successor of Golden Dragon returns to his rightful place, the Mystery Island will flourish again like never before. The world will bow down before the successor, and the successor will bring the world to a new height. We have to prepare to welcome the successor!"

"Yes, Lord Devas!" Everyone nodded in excitement. Enthusiasm could be seen on their faces.

Just moments ago, the entire palace had been empty, yet now it was suddenly filled with dozens of people who had appeared out of nowhere.

How they materialized on the royal chairs, or how Lord Devas himself came to be on the throne, remained a mystery.

"But..." one of the kneeling figures slowly raised his head, stood up, and asked with urgency, "Who is the successor? And since the successor has emerged, those "people" must have sensed his appearance as well. If we don't act swiftly, the successor will be in grave danger!"

As soon as the question was asked, Lord Devas closed his eyes, his expression growing serious as if concentrating on something far away, searching for the location of the successor.

It was as if nature itself has started resonating with him, a very ethereal wind started blowing softly and the weather changed and become appealing to people's hearts.

Sometime later, Devas opened his eyes and said: "He is really special. For some reason, I'm unable to see him. He is shrouded in some sort of mysterious fog that is blocking my vision. It is as if that mysterious fog is there to restrict people from spying on him or... his fate and destiny."

"Well, he seemed to be in the Valley of Death currently."

The people present in the hall frowned. They exclaimed together: "Valley of Death? Isn't that place where..."

"Yes!" Devas nodded his head.

"Valley Of Death is filled with danger. We have to hurry and bring him here!" Another one said in a hurry and stood up. His figure started fluctuating violently as if he was going to disappear at any moment.

"Calm down!"

Devas waved his hand, and the air seemed to have stirred up, immediately suppressing the person whose figure was constantly fluctuating. Then he said: "On other thought, I changed my mind. He seemed to be shrouded in a mysterious fog, blocking my vision. There is nothing in this world that can block my vision, but he succeeded in doing this. What does it mean?"

Seeing everyone's silence, for the first time, a smile appeared on Devas' blurry face. No one could see his facial features clearly, but everyone could tell that Devas was smiling right now.

"It means there is more to this little boy. It seems as if the world itself wants to hide his true identity, not wanting to reveal anything related to him. That's why my vision was blocked."

"Since that's the case, let nature run its course for now. Because of the Golden Dragon's Pearl, he is already connected to Mystery Island. Sooner or later, he'll come here. As for us, let's just wait and see how he progresses. He is currently too weak anyway, not suitable to even step out of a small country. Let him become stronger step by step and experience the world. Let him take every step with stability on the stairs of chaos. "Only by hammering an iron again and again can we make the iron sharp and give it any shape. Just like that, he needs to experience the world by himself to grow stronger and qualify to truly rule the Mystery Island."

Cyrus was surprised when he saw another attribute appearing in the system panel floating in front of his eyes. This additional attribute was the 'treasure' attribute.

It told him that he was now in possession of the Golden Dragon Pearl.

Cyrus immediately understood that this Golden Dragon Pearl must be the Golden Pearl that entered his body previously.

He hurriedly looked at his own body, trying to search for the Dragon Pearl, only to fail in the end. Cyrus was unable to find anything.

He could not understand what happened before and why he could not see the Golden Dragon Pearl even though the system was clearly telling him that he is in the possession of this pearl.

Is the Golden Dragon Pearl still inside his body?

If that really is the truth, would the Golden Dragon Pearl do any harm to him?

Cyrus could not find an answer to his questions, so he stopped thinking about it in the end, and focused on what to do next.

His strength has also increased by one level. He could already feel his body becoming even stronger than before.

Taking a deep breath, Cyrus was ready to leave this place.

Surprisingly, when he raised his head to look at the surroundings, he found himself standing at the small paradise, the place where he appeared after running from the Three-headed Jaguar. This is also where he met the little furry animal.

But when he tried to find it, he was unable to locate that little guy. It was as if that little fellow had disappeared somewhere at some point.

Cyrus shook his head and sighed. Then he thought about how to leave this place.

The moment this thought appeared in his mind, a golden light suddenly burst out from his body and enveloped him completely. Cyrus could feel that the source of this golden light was actually the Golden Dragon Pearl.

He suddenly sensed a strong suction force and the ground below his feet disappeared. This frightened Cyrus a lot.

He doesn't have any idea what happened just now, and unknowns are always the most frightening things.
