Alex stood at the edge of the eastern mountains, his grey eyes fixed on the distant peaks where the source had gone to ground. The spatial trail was still there faint, almost imperceptible, a whisper of law essence woven so delicately into the fabric of reality that even his enhanced perception could barely trace it.

The being that had manipulated the monster surge for over a century was hiding in those mountains. Waiting. Preparing. And Alex could do nothing about it.

The wind howled through

  • Council

The Human Council chamber was silent.James Roshar sat at the head of the long table, his ancient hands clasped before him, his pale eyes fixed on the data crystal that rested at the center of the table. Beside him sat his grandson Roy Roshar the king of the Roshar kingdom, his white hair gleaming in the soft light of the spiritual lamps. And around the table around the crystal sat the most powerful beings in the human race.Elara Voss, Speaker of the Council, her storm-cloud eyes sharp and calculating. Louise Ravenshade, her amber eyes fixed on the crystal with an intensity that spoke of centuries of experience. Henry Blackwood, his storm-cloud eyes thoughtful. Aldric of Valdris, his ice-blue eyes hard with suspicion. Seris of the ancient being, her silver hair cascading down her shoulders. And a dozen others the heads of the great kingdoms, the leaders of the founding families, the Immortal Kings who had guided humanity through its darkest hours."I have called you here," James beg

  • Future

Alex stared at Dia at his daughter and at the tiny child who was now petting the wolf cub with gentle hands. The cub was licking her fingers, its tail wagging even faster. And the adult monsters, the massive beasts, were watching with something that looked almost like... reverence.“ They treat her like she's one of them,” Alex realized. “She was born from an egg, a monster's egg. She's not human, not fully. She's something else. Something that the monsters recognize as their own. They feel keen around her.”He thought about the egg, about the pressure that had radiated from it for over a hundred years about the being that had been growing inside. He had always known Dia was special and had always known she was different but he hadn't realized how different after she was born in the form of a human."She's their leader," he said quietly. "Or something like it. They see her as... as one of their own. As someone who would protect them. They will follow her."Diana nodded slowly. "I thin

  • Return

Alex emerged from the forbidden realm, his body whole, his strength restored, but his mind heavy with the weight of everything he had learned. The forbidden realm hasn’t collapsed behind him, its purpose was different but the source or the master of shadow misused it.“But the Master of Shadows is still out there,” Alex reminded himself, his grey eyes hard. “How should I tackle this guy?”He folded space around himself and vanished, reappearing moments later at the edge of the inner zone. The journey back to Starone would take time even with his space law, the distance was vast but he couldn't afford to waste a single moment.“I need to speak with Father and Great-Grandfather,” he thought. “They need to know what happened and what I found. At least they will be at ease.”He paused, his grey eyes fixed on the horizon.“But first I need to deal with the demon king and the Dark Lord. They've gone too far killing geniuses collecting blood and trying to break through to the Universe Venera

  • 125 million

Alex stood in the center of the forbidden realm, his body covered in blood and ichor, his chest heaving with exhaustion. Around him stretching as far as the eye could see were the corpses of monsters. Hundreds of thousands of them. Millions. The ground was a charnel house, a sea of blood and bone and twisted flesh.“It's done,” he thought, his grey eyes fixed on the horizon. “The army is destroyed and the one threat for now is relieved. The hundred worlds are safe for now.”He pulled up his attribute panel curious to see how many points he had gained.Attribute Points: 125,000,000“One hundred and twenty-five million points,” he thought, his eyes widening. “That's... that's more than I've ever had. More than I ever imagined.”He thought about what he could do with that many points. He could increase his body realm and push the Golden Jade Body to new heights. He could increase his bloodline and could awaken more of the Primordial Chaos Harvester. He could increase his laws and could d

  • Slaughter

Alex sat on the cold stone floor, his body still aching, his immortal energy still not fully restored. But he had made a decision. He would use the remaining attribute points not to increase his body realm further, but to heal himself completely.[Allocating 7,000,000 attribute points to recovery...][Restoring immortal energy...][Healing physical injuries...][Body Realm: Golden Jade Body (1st turn 5%) → Golden Jade Body (1st turn 5%)][Life Gene Level: 32800 → 32800][Attribute Points Remaining: 0]The energy surged through him not the hot, fierce energy of advancement, but something gentler. Something that soothed rather than burned. He felt his wounds close, his muscles relax, his bones mend. The immortal energy within him, which had been depleted to dangerous levels, began to refill slowly at first, then faster, until it reached its full capacity. When the process was complete, Alex opened his eyes and flexed his fingers. He felt... whole. Not just healed whole. His body was re

  • Mastermind

He closed his eyes and reached inward toward the fragment of memory that the reflection had left behind. It was a vast repository of knowledge, a lifetime of experiences, and a record of everything Kaelen had learned during his millennia of existence. And Alex began to explore it.The memory was overwhelming.Alex saw Kaelen's childhood, his family, his world. He saw the war that had destroyed everything, the darkness that had consumed his life. He saw the moment when Kaelen had discovered the hundred worlds when he had realized that they could be used to bring his family back. And he saw the mastermind.“There,” Alex thought, his eyes widening. “There in the memory is the one who corrupted Kaelen. The one who manipulated him. The one who is the true enemy.”He saw a figure, a being of pure darkness, a presence that transcended anything he had ever encountered. It was not the Source. It was not Kaelen. It was something else, something older, something that had been waiting in the shad
