Chapter 1: Blood Banquet on the White Shore

The headstone had perfect ninety degree angles.

Polished white Carrara marble reflected the gray skies over Menton. Matthew Valdes did not see his mother's engraved name as an identity. To him, it was nothing more than a rigid block positioned at GPS coordinates 43.7749° N, 7.4975° E.

He crouched, his fingertips resting against the cold marble surface. There were no tears. Only the steady pulse beating at sixty-five beats per minute beneath his wrist.

"You shouldn't have chosen a place this quiet, Mom," Matthew murmured. His voice was flat, devoid of emotion, like metal scraping against metal. "Silence means there are no witnesses. And no witnesses means nothing stands in the way of murder."

His ears caught the wrong frequency. One hundred meters behind him, among the rows of cypress trees lining the coastal cliff, tactical boots scraped against loose gravel.

Not one person. Six. Matthew didn't turn around. Inside his mind, the world began to shift. Ares System: Initiated.

His pupils dilated, triggering a surge of adrenaline that forced his brain to process information five times faster than a normal human's. His face blindness vanished beneath a web of neon blue geometry.

He no longer saw people. He saw vectors, centers of mass, and pulsing vascular points.

"The target is stationary. Execute."

A deep voice crackled through a leaking radio transmission in the distance.

"Roger. Area is clear. Execution in T-minus five seconds."

Matthew slowly rose to his feet. A red trajectory streaked into his vision from the seven o'clock direction.

Sniper.

Fifteen degree elevation. One hundred twenty meters away.

"One," Matthew counted softly.

Bang!

The bullet ripped through the Mediterranean air. Matthew shifted his head exactly three centimeters to the left. The round slammed into the headstone, leaving microscopic fractures across the expensive white marble.

"A miss? How is that possible?" Panic erupted over the radio. "He didn't even look behind him!"

"He moved before you pulled the trigger, idiot!" another voice shouted. "Switch to full auto! Surround him!"

Five figures emerged from behind the cemetery monuments. They wore black tactical gear without insignias. Professionals and cold.

To Matthew, they were merely variables that needed to be removed from the equation.

"You damaged my mother's headstone," Matthew said.

He turned toward the approaching mass. He couldn't see their faces, only blurred clusters of indistinct pixels, but he could see the unstable rhythm of their breathing.

"That was a fatal miscalculation."

"You're awfully talkative for a dead man!" one assassin shouted as he raised his HK416. "Shoot his legs! Don Rodrigo wants him alive, but he doesn't have to be in one piece!"

"Negative," Matthew interrupted in a terrifyingly calm voice. "You won't have time to pull the trigger."

Matthew moved. He wasn't a fighter. He was an architect of destruction. With the Ares System, he saw bullet trajectories before the weapons were even fired. He zigzagged across the battlefield, exploiting gravity and the angles of the cliffside.

"He's too fast! Damn it, aim for his head!"

Rat-tat-tat-tat!

Bullets tore into the ground, blasting white limestone dust into the air. Matthew slid beneath a stone pillar and seized a heavy bronze flower vase.

"Vector, forty-five degrees. Force, eighty newtons," Matthew whispered.

Without looking, he threw it.

Thud!

The vase smashed into the nearest assassin's throat with mathematical precision. The man choked on blood and collapsed to his knees, clutching at his shattered neck.

"Alpha is down! Alpha is down!"

Matthew was already standing in front of the second man. He grabbed the assassin's wrist and twisted until the radius bone punched through the skin.

Crack!

"Agh! My hand! You bastard..."

Matthew stripped the Glock from the man's limp grip. Two shots. One through the forehead. One through the aorta. No pause. No hesitation.

"Four remaining," Matthew said.

His eyes began to burn. At the edge of his vision, the neon blue lines flickered crimson.

Neuro-Overload: 40%.

"Fall back! Fall back and use grenades!" the team leader shouted from a distance.

"There's no time to retreat."

Matthew's voice came from directly behind the third assassin. He slammed the back of the man's head into the sharp corner of a concrete tomb. The sound of his skull splitting was like a watermelon bursting open. Blood splattered across Matthew's white shirt. He didn't blink.

"What the hell are you?!" the fourth assassin screamed, his voice breaking with fear. He fired wildly. "Your face... you don't have any expression! You're insane!"

"I'm not insane."

Matthew walked through the rain of bullets as though he were strolling through a park.

"I simply see no reason to fear a pile of worthless data like you."

He fired the Glock's final round. The bullet pierced the assassin's eye, exited through the back of his skull, and buried itself in the trunk of a cypress tree.

Only one man remained. The team leader.

He dropped his rifle and drew a combat knife. His hands shook violently.

"How much did Rodrigo pay you for this?" Matthew asked as he walked closer.

"Enough that I don't care who you really are, Valdes!"

The leader lunged.

To Matthew, the attack unfolded in slow motion. He saw every muscle fiber tightening in the man's arm. Matthew caught the knife hand and calmly redirected the blade toward the assassin's own heart.

"Tell my uncle," Matthew whispered into the man's ear as the knife began slicing through his body armor, "the laws of physics can't be bribed."

He drove the blade all the way to the hilt. Warm blood soaked his hand. The man's mouth fell open, his eyes bulged, and then his body went limp before collapsing to the ground. Matthew stood motionless in the middle of a field of corpses.

Silence settled over Menton once again. Inside his mind, however, a storm was raging.

"Ugh..."

Matthew dropped to one knee. Pain slammed into his brain like a sledgehammer.

Neuro-Overload: 95%.

His vision shattered into thousands of fragments of static. The world around him lost its shape. The sky, the sea, and the bodies dissolved into a chaotic blur of agonizing colors. Something warm flowed from his nose. He wiped it away with the back of his hand. Red. The blood was thick and smelled of iron.

"Too... long," he hissed.

His heartbeat became erratic. The nerves at his temples throbbed violently, as though his blood vessels were on the verge of bursting.

He tried to stand, but his legs felt like jelly. Every ounce of strength had been drained from his body. This was the price of becoming a master of data. Every second of supremacy was paid for with permanent damage to his own nervous system.

Matthew collapsed.

His face struck the damp grass beside his mother's headstone, now stained with blood and scarred by bullet holes. His consciousness began to fade. Darkness crept inward from the edges of his vision.

In the final moments before everything went black, he heard a different set of footsteps. Not tactical boots. Not the hurried stride of an assassin. These footsteps were calm. Authoritative. Each polished heel striking the cemetery pathway sounded like a judge's gavel echoing through a courtroom.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

A pair of crocodile leather Oxford shoes, polished to a mirror shine, stopped just inches from Matthew's face.

Matthew tried to lift his head, but his neck refused to obey. All he could see was the hem of perfectly pressed wool trousers.

"You've made quite a mess of yourself, Matthew."

A deep baritone, heavy with authority, shattered the silence.

"Killing six men at your own mother's grave... you've truly inherited this family's darker side."

Matthew recognized that voice. A frequency saturated with poison and power.

"Grandfather..." Matthew whispered, his voice nearly drowned by the blood filling his throat.

Don Alejandro Valdes stood tall, looking down at his dying grandson with an expression balanced somewhere between pride and disgust.

The patriarch of the Valdes Dynasty rested one hand on a silver-headed cane as he regarded the pile of bodies surrounding them as though they were nothing more than trash littering the landscape.

"Get up," Alejandro ordered, cold and merciless. "Don't die here. I don't have time to pay for two funerals in one week."

Alejandro bent slightly, his shadow falling across Matthew's trembling body.

"The world is waiting to devour you alive, Matthew. And I'm here to make sure your teeth are sharp enough to bite back."

Matthew's consciousness disappeared completely as a powerful hand seized the collar of his shirt. Darkness swallowed everything. The war had just begun.

Seventy-two hours after Sofia’s empty funeral, Matthew Valdes had not left the sixtieth floor. His office had been transformed into a sterile command center. A series of monitors displayed stock market charts, SWIFT transfers, and satellite maps tracking property assets across Europe.Matthew sat at the center, the dark circles beneath his eyes hidden behind custom-made sunglasses integrated with Ares sensors. He was no longer grieving. Grief was an emotion that wasted brain glucose. Now, all that remained was an algorithm of destruction.“You haven’t slept in three days, Matthew. Coffee and Adderall won’t replace your burned-out neurons.” Isabella leaned against the doorframe, holding two bottles of chilled green juice.“My neurons can be replaced with the satisfaction of watching Rodrigo beg,” Matthew replied without taking his eyes off the lines of code before him. “What about the bank in the Caymans?”Isabella walked closer and placed the bottle on the desk. “Success. Black smoke still billowed from the wreckage of the overturned Audi in the Level -2 parking garage. The smell of burning gasoline mingled with the scent of charred flesh, an aroma the Ares System identified as a combination of nitrogen, carbon, and denatured protein. But to Matthew Valdes, it was the smell of failure. He stood five meters from the center of the blast. The building’s security officers tried to hold him back, but one look from Matthew’s red eyes made them retreat in fear. The geometric lines in Matthew’s vision flickered wildly as they attempted to map the wreckage.Target: Sofia. Status: Biometric Signal Lost. Probability of Survival: 0.00%.Matthew did not scream. He did not drop to his knees. He simply stared at a silver wristwatch lying on the asphalt several meters from the destroyed driver’s door. It had been a gift from him a month ago. Now its glass was cracked, recording the final seconds of the life of a woman he had only just begun to trust.“Mr. Valdes, this

  • CHAPTER 14: THE COUNCIL OF WOLVES

The ground floor of Valdes Tower had been cleared. Fully armed tactical units stood guard at every corner, but the real tension was in the Round Table Room on the highest floor. There, seven elders of the Valdes clan, old wolves who had already caught the scent of blood, sat waiting.Matthew Valdes stepped inside. He was not wearing sunglasses. His eyes, reddened from ruptured blood vessels, stared straight ahead, giving him the appearance of a wounded predator that was still deadly. Isabella walked beside him, her head held high, giving him visual signals through finger codes hidden within the folds of her dress.“Sit down, Matthew,” Don Carrillo’s dry voice rang out. “Or should I call you ‘Blind Boy’?”Matthew pulled out the heavy chair at the end of the table. The scrape of mahogany against marble sounded like a growl.“My name is still written on the ownership certificate of this building, Carrillo. That is the only identity you need.”“We’ve read your medical records,” Don Ortega

The darkness was different this time. It was not the hollow darkness of an isolation cell, but a warm darkness scented with expensive antiseptic and jasmine. Matthew felt the cool sensation of a compressing gel covering his eyes. Every time he tried to move his eyelids, thousands of microscopic needles seemed to pierce directly into the center of his brain.“Don’t take it off. It’s a cooling polymer designed to stabilize the bleeding in your retinas,” Isabella’s voice came from beside his ear. Cold, yet steady.“Where am I?” Matthew tried to sit up, but his hand brushed against the soft silk sheets of a king-size bed.“My private clinic on the outskirts of Madrid. It doesn’t exist on any government map or Rodrigo’s radar. You’re safe, for now.”Matthew drew a deep breath, trying to map the room through sound. He heard the low hum of a hemodialysis machine and the ticking of a mechanical clock. The room was spacious. The ceiling was high.“How long was I unconscious?”“Six hours. You’r

The Madrid night wind howled across the top floor of Vértigo Restaurant. Four-meter-high glass walls separated Spain's elite from the two-hundred-meter drop below. Inside, crystal chandeliers scattered their light across bottles of Dom Pérignon lined up on silk-covered tables.Matthew Valdes stood near the balcony, slowly swirling a glass of whiskey without ice. The Tom Ford tuxedo he wore felt suffocating. Beneath his shirt, the bruises along his ribs throbbed every time he breathed."They didn't come here for your food, Matthew," Isabella's voice came through the micro earpiece in his ear. "They came to see whether you'll collapse after this morning's logistics incident.""Let them watch," Matthew replied softly, barely moving his lips. "Vultures always gather before the lion is truly dead. They just want to know when they can start picking at my flesh."Matthew turned to face the room. The five largest shareholders of Valdes Group sat at the main table. To Matthew, they were five s

The main lobby of Valdes Tower felt like a funeral filled with hypocrites that morning. When Matthew stepped inside, the sound of his footsteps against the Carrara marble triggered an instant wave of silence. Hundreds of employees stood rigidly, lowering their heads as he passed.Matthew did not see those faces filled with hatred or fear. To him, the lobby was merely a long corridor filled with unstable centers of gravity. He could sense racing heartbeats and tense shoulder muscles, all of them data revealing their unease."Mr. Valdes," a receptionist whispered, her voice trembling at a frequency of 320 hertz. Fear.Matthew kept walking without looking back. Behind him, Sofia, now dressed in a sharp gray business suit, struggled to keep pace with his long strides."What's on the morning schedule, sir?" Sofia asked, trying to sound professional despite the trauma Matthew knew she was still carrying from yesterday's incident at the secret headquarters."Gather the entire board in the Ex
