Elena paced back and forth in front of Reid's study door, still considering whether she should come in or not.

She had intended to apologize to Reid, but after hearing Charles' conversation in the kitchen, Elena felt even more guilty towards Reid. And that made her not dare to go in to meet the man, even though she had to go in, right?

“Charles, what are you hanging around there for? Come in!" Reid's voice shouted from inside the room, making Elena jump in surprise.

Reid must have seen the shadow of her feet on the door and thought she was his personal assistant.

Because her whereabouts were already known—even though it was false—it made Elena feel like she had no choice to back out. Elena opened the door to Reid's study slowly.

Reid seemed to be leaning back in his work chair with his eyes closed. Elena was sure Reid wasn't asleep yet because the man had just spoken.

"Get the files on the table," Reid ordered, still closing his eyes.

Elena blinked. So Reid still thinks she is Charles
