Chapter 2: Gone Back

George stood there looking at Fin's lifeless eyes, horrified at what had just happened, before he heard a scream behind him, "Maggot! There is no time to stare at the dead, or you might be one yourself! Get your head in the game, son!" The sergeant shouted as he punched George in the back.‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

George looked away from the dead body and turned his attention to the sergeant, "Yes, sergeant!" He shouted before he started running towards a goblin to shoot it down.

"Gahh!!" The goblins screamed as their bodies were being demolished by the bullets piercing their skin.

After killing the first goblin, more goblins started pouring from downtown, holding clubs and metal pipes.

But they were all blasted with a flurry of machine gun attacks and dealt with in true American fashion.

"Just a bit more! We must show those monsters that we are in control!" The sergeant shouted.

The soldiers looked at the sergeant with their spirits restored before a sword pierced through him, "Ah!" He shouted as he looked at his stomach, where he saw the sword that pierced him. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

He pulled out a grenade and screamed, "I am not dying on my own, you monsters!" He yelled as he extracted all of the rings from the grenade, exploding himself and his surroundings. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

"Ah!" A humanoid-shaped creature shouted as its skin burned and flesh was torn from the explosion. The sword from his hand fell as he took out a bottle and poured it on him, healing him.

The soldiers didn't know how to react, as what they were currently seeing didn't look like a monster but a human. "Am I dreaming? Because that definitely looks like a human." One of the soldiers said.

But George wasn't having any of it and shouted, "Does that matter? This son of a b*tch killed the sergeant!" He shouted before shooting at the mysterious human. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

The other soldiers then realized that their enemy must be destroyed, it didn't matter if they were humans or monsters, and they followed George to shoot the unidentified human.

Upon getting shot, the mysterious human pulled out a shield with a cross and pulled out a golden sword, saying, "The goddess Alia is with me! And the heathens will pay for their crimes against you! And I, the divine knight, shall kill all the heathen in thy name!" He shouted before he started charging and slicing soldiers one by one. No matter how many bullets the soldiers tried shooting at him, this mysterious figure got through without dying. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

Seeing that this almost invincible being was walking towards him and getting closer, Geoge backed away and started running while looking back to see if the soldiers could even slow the knight down, but it seemed that they were all dying. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

"That's it. It doesn't matter if I die or not! I will send you and your so-called goddess Alia to hell!" He shouted as he started shooting at the so-called divine knight. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

And this time, he realized that the shield that the knight was carrying was starting to shatter, and the more he shot in the knight's way, no matter where on the knight he shot, the shield would take the damage.

He continued running away while throwing grenades at the knight until...

Crack! ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

The shield shattered utterly, and George continued shooting; it looked like it was getting through the knight's skin and even managed to slow him down. "Die! Die!" He shouted as he reloaded and continued shooting.

The knight's eyes widened, and he jumped so high into the sky that George lost sight of him, "Where are you, you monster?" He shouted before he heard a thud behind him. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

"I'm here." The knight spoke before George turned and continued shooting.

The knight then sliced through George's whole bulletproof armour, causing him to jump back in a fright; as he looked at how close the sword nearly sliced him, he looked at the knight with his face reddened in anger and took his grenade pack and removed the ring on all of the grenades and threw it at the knight—Destroying the knight in front of him. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

But since the knight was right in front of him when the grenade he threw exploded, a significant amount of damage was also dealt to him, and as he looked at his torso, he could even see his organs visible, "Ah, damn it. I knew this day would have come..." He said this as he gazed into the sky, and blood flowed from his organs. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

He could even taste the knight's blood, and he exploded on his face, "Well at least I killed that monster." He said before he closed his eyes. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

"Wake up, you lazy bastards!" A sergeant in a hat shouted at the top of his lungs before taking out a trumpet from his bag and playing a high note. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

George opened his eyes and jumped out of bed in fright. He looked in the middle of the room to see the sergeant that died in front of him shouting as he usually did, "What the heck is going on..." He reflected as he looked around the room, feeling a strong sense of déjà vu. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

He took out his watch and saw that it was the day that they were sent to New York to fight against the monsters. "Yeah... 5th October..." He said as he stood up straight and looked at the rest of the crew, whom he had witnessed death on the battlefield.

Suddenly, a blueish hologram appeared above their heads.

On top of the sergeant's head was the number 5, while the rest of the privates were either 1 or 2.

George tried blinking to see if something was wrong with his eyes, but no matter how hard he tried, the hologram was still there. ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎ ‎

The sergeant looked at George, who was looking everywhere, "Private George, what is my opinion on daydreaming?" The sergeant asked as he walked closer to George.

George then gulped and realized what was going on, 'I have gone back in time...' He thought.
