Benjamin returned to the hotel penthouse at around eleven in the morning.

The moment he opened the door, Desmond shot up from the couch.

“God, Benji. You scared me.”

Benjamin stopped.

Desmond looked exhausted. His clothes were still the same ones from the previous evening. Dark circles had formed beneath his eyes, and his hair looked like he had spent the entire night running his fingers through it.

“I couldn't sleep all night. What happened?”

Benjamin closed the door behind him.

“I'm fine.”

Lorenzo Bellini arrived at the penthouse shortly after ten in the morning, carrying a leather briefcase thick enough to suggest that the meeting would not be short.Benjamin was already seated in the living room. His new laptop rested on the coffee table, open beside a notebook.Lorenzo greeted him before taking a seat."Good morning, Benjamin.""Good morning, Lorenzo. How are you?""Very well."Desmond's usual chair sat empty.Benjamin glanced toward it."He travelled to Latina yesterday."Lorenzo nodded."Everything alright?""Yes. His mother has been calling him for days. She said she missed him."Lorenzo smiled."How long has he been away from home?""Almost five months.""Then I suppose she finally won."Benjamin laughed."She did."Lorenzo placed his briefcase on the table and opened it."I have the finalized structure for Valmont Group."Benjamin straightened."Let's see it."Lorenzo removed several documents and arranged them neatly."The first stage involves establishing Valm

Benjamin stood in the middle of the living room and looked around. The house already felt different.Only a few days earlier, the rooms had been empty. Now workers moved around with measuring tapes, fabric samples, furniture catalogues, and boxes. One team worked inside Benjamin's house while another team worked on Desmond's.The two houses had the same structure. Both were two-story detached houses with roughly four hundred square metres of interior space, private gardens, and two-car garages. They were also on the same street, with four other houses between them.Benjamin glanced toward the road through the large windows.Desmond had already stepped outside to look around the property."They're really moving quickly," he said. The head decorator smiled."We have a full team working here and another team working on your friend's house."Benjamin looked toward the staircase."When do you think everything will be finished?""By the end of the month, we don't want to rush things."Desmo

Benjamin had expected the eleven properties in Rome to take him by surprise. He had not expected them to leave him speechless. For the better part of a week, he and Desmond moved from one property to another, accompanied by Lorenzo Bellini's assistant when necessary. The first few visits had made Benjamin increasingly curious.By the third property, curiosity had turned into genuine amazement.By the time they reached Parioli, he had stopped trying to guess what he would find behind the next gate. The properties were nothing like the neglected buildings he had pictured. They stood in some of Rome's most desirable areas.Parioli had given them elegant residential buildings surrounded by quiet streets and established greenery. Olgiata offered larger properties with more space and privacy. Several properties in Northwest Rome sat in locations that could support substantial commercial or residential development.Benjamin stood outside one of the buildings in Parioli, looking up at its fac

Benjamin spread the pamphlets and booklets across the glass coffee table in the penthouse.Desmond sat opposite him, staring at the papers with a frown.“What is all this?”Benjamin picked up one of the brochures.“The financial advisor gave them to me.”“I see,” Desmond reached for one of the booklets.Benjamin leaned back into the sofa.“He knows what he's doing. He went through the assets, asked me what kind of businesses interested me, and started explaining what I should consider before putting money into anything.”Desmond took another pamphlet and flipped through it.“You understood all of that?”“Some of it.”Desmond looked up.“Some?”Benjamin laughed.“Do you think becoming rich automatically gives someone a degree in finance?”Desmond grinned.“Honestly? I thought you knew everything now.”Benjamin shook his head.“That is exactly why I need people who know what they're doing.”“You know I told you it's an excellent idea.” Desmond said. “He gave me information on property,

The restaurant was still quiet as expected at this house, the lunch crowd had yet to come, and only a handful of customers occupied the tables. Soft music played somewhere beyond the dining room. This time suited him very well. He sat across from Lorenzo Bellini, the man Rebecca Alejandro had recommended.Bellini looked to be in his early fifties. His charcoal suit fit perfectly, but he had none of the restless energy Benjamin had come to associate with wealthy businessmen. He had placed a leather folder before himself and spent the first ten seconds or so studying Benjamin without making him feel examined. He finally spoke.“Mr. Volkov, I have gone through the portfolio of your assets as sent to me by Ms. Alejandro. But first I would like to ask you to tell me about the types of businesses you like.”Benjamin leaned back. The question caught him off guard.“You mean businesses I understand?”“Businesses you would be comfortable owning.”Benjamin looked through the window at the empt

She told herself that he could be innocent. There were a lot of men who had the same build as Tommaso Giovanni. Her jeans came off first, his fingers working the button and zipper with familiar efficiency. He tugged the denim down her legs, his knuckles brushing her thighs. Then her shirt, lifted over her head, the fabric catching on her earrings for a moment before freeing itself. He unhooked her bra with a single deft motion, and she was bare before him.Tommaso paused, his eyes traveling over her body. “You’re so beautiful, sweetheart.”She looked away.He lowered his mouth to her collarbone, pressing soft kisses along the bone, moving downward. Her skin prickled with goosebumps. Her breath hitched. She wondered why it still felt the same. Why did her body still want him? He undressed himself quickly, his movements efficient, almost hungry. When he returned to her, his skin was warm against hers, his chest hair rough against her breasts. His mouth found her nipple and she arched i
