Tyler was utterly tongue-tied for a few moments. What did the Douglas heiress just say? She wanted to marry him?

The young man knew Michelle for a short time. But he always saw her as a little girl. Tyler's sole inclination was to protect her. That would also align with the late Prince of Petra's wishes.

However, the Princess' proposal to marry him and become the King of Petra was astounding. He had no idea she thought about him that way.

"Michelle…" Tyler began. "Is this a prank?"

The girl joined her hands against her heart and stepped closer to him. "I love you, Tyler Grant! Please become my husband and my King. I will make you very happy!"

The young man chuckled nervously. "This is ridiculous! You cannot be serious!"

The Princess peered into his eyes with passion. "I have never been more serious in my life."

Tyler sighed and shook his head. "I'm sorry, I cannot accept that proposal. I have never seen you that way."

Michelle's smile faltered, and she bit her lip, visibly hurt. "Is i

He stood there in the central square—a god among ruins.Tyler's face, expressionless a moment ago in that first moment of shock, twisted slowly into something unrecognizable. His eyes became wide, and pupils dilated with horror that sank deeper with every moment until it reached the core of his soul."Michelle... is gone," he murmured to himself. The woman whose love had freed him, and whose kingdom he had sworn to protect. "Looks like you have a visitor," Tyler said with a knowing smile, ignoring Seraph's invitation to sit on the Seraphim King throne."A visitor?" Seraph asked in confusion. "There is no being who is powerful enough to infiltrate my castle. Not even Zeus!""I didn't say they were a being…" the young man replied with a shrug. The words had barely left his lips when the floor beneath them began to ripple. Water welled up from the crystal tiles, rising gently at first. Then, like a spring bubbling from an underground lake, the water began to swell higher, lapping at Tyler's ankles, his calves, until it reached his knees. The water was cool, carrying the scent of fresh rain and exotic lakes, shimmering with magical light that reflected the hall's crystal glow.Tyler felt healed of all his pain, wounds, and exhaustion from climbing to the cave. He looked up toward Seraph with his six wings folded majestically. The supreme being's face had changed. The joy of liberation faded into something vu

"Who exactly is this Destiny you fell in love with?" Tyler asked.Seraph's dying-star eyes fixated on him, and the young man saw a flicker of something almost human in that godly madness.Seraph leaned forward as much as his chains allowed. The metal groaned like a dying beast. "Destiny... She exists beyond time and space, beyond the grasp of imagination itself.""Do you mean she is a goddess?"The supreme being waved a dismissive hand. "Destiny is neither a goddess you pray to, nor a force you can command."He looked up as if he could stare through the crystals into the sky. "She is the weave of existence itself—the thread that binds fates of living and non-living, the silent architect of heroes and their stories."Tyler felt like he had learned nothing new from the explanation. "Where is she?""Destiny only reveals herself to those who dare to defy the impossible—true heroes who bend predestination with their wills alone."The young man furrowed his brow because something about this

"Who are you?" Tyler demanded of the massive seated figure. His voice echoed throughout the cavernous, ancient hall like a challenge. The young man stood panting. Every muscle in his body screamed from the grueling climb. It had been months since he crossed the forest tunnel into Wings Island. The moment he stepped through, the island's wards stripped him of his powers. No mystical energy surged through his veins. No divine contracts answered his call.Excalibur was nowhere in the ether, and Poseidon's Trident refused to manifest. Most surprisingly, his enhanced strength had vanished, leaving him as ordinary as the day he went to Montserrat Prison. The terrain had been merciless to Tyler. He climbed up jagged cliffs that clawed at his hands until they bled. He fought through vines thick as pythons, ensnaring his ankles. Endless dead drops forced him to crawl on bloodied knees. The young man had rationed the meager supplies from his pack, sleeping in shallow caves to avoid wild animals

Michelle frowned, pushing through the crowd. "Evacuation? What are you talking about, Sergeant? We just won the war against Lazarus' armies. What's the issue?"He grabbed her arm, speaking with an urgent and panicked voice. "Ma'am, there is no time for discussion. Please hurry!"The Queen followed him up the spiral stairs to the palace's observation deck. The city sprawled below like a wounded beast licking its scars. Apart from the sirens and alarms, everything seemed normal. What was the Sergeant worried about? The others trailed behind. Kat, Britta, Yara, Tracy, Isabella, and Mamushi arrived. The terrace was a station with radar tech, with screens flickering madly."My Queen… Please look," the Sergeant gasped, jabbing a finger at the central display. A blip streaked across the radar range.Michelle leaned in with raised brows. "What is that? A missile? Can't our air defense systems neutralize it? Why did you have to bring me up here?"The Sergeant looked scandalized as if he had se

"My Queen, we've lost the eastern flank!" a panicking lieutenant shouted over the roar of gunfire and crumbling buildings.Michelle Douglas stood atop the command post in Sapphire City's central square, her royal uniform smeared with soot and blood. The air was saturated with the smell of burning rubber, tar, and charred flesh. She gripped the radio tighter, trying to keep her voice steady. "Redirect the 7th Infantry from the docks. Flank them with the Gilded Guard. We must hold the square at all costs!"Petra's forces had been caught flat-footed when Lazarus Briar's armada struck at dawn. What began as a coastal skirmish erupted into a full-scale invasion. Petra, or even the American defense forces, weren't ready. It was as if the ships appeared out of a portal at sea, which probably wasn't far from the truth. They landed and spread like a contagion. Waves of black-armored soldiers stormed the beaches like locusts. At the same time, dark mages stayed in the background, weaving protec
