The black ink swallowed everything in a single, roaring wave.
Director Jade vanished beneath the swirling flood of letters, his screams cut short as the master book disintegrated into white ash. I stood alone in the center of the collapsing archive, the heavy armor of dark ink cooling around my right arm. The platform beneath my boots broke apart into floating fragments, dropping down into an endless void where millions of stories had once been stored.
My chest felt completely hollow.
"Aminata!" I shouted, my voice echoing across the empty white space.
There was no answer. Only the quiet hiss of dissolving code and the steady, rhythmic pulse of the silver pen in my hand. Director Jade had deleted her character file and pulled her into the core master book before he fell. She was gone, trapped somewhere inside the unwritten pages of a database that was currently tearing itself to pieces.
I wasn't going to let her stay there.
I gripped the silver pen tight, pointing the glowing tip straight down into the swirling vortex of black ink beneath me. If the platform wanted to erase us, it had to get through the author first.
I jumped straight into the dark abyss.
The fall was fast and silent, rushing past hundreds of glowing windows that flashed with scenes from other sectors. I saw billionaire boardrooms, dark mafia alleys, and neon-lit rooftops from a thousand different stories running all at once. But I didn't care about any of them. I concentrated entirely on the ink in my hand, pushing my will through the silver metal until the pen burned hot against my palm.
CRASH.
I landed hard on a flat, solid surface, sliding across smooth white ground for several feet before coming to a stop.
I pushed myself up, groaning as I wiped a streak of dark ink from my cheek. I looked around. The chaos of the archive was gone. The alarms, the flashing red warning screens, and the towering servers had all vanished completely.
There was only an infinite, blinding expanse of pure white space stretching out in every single direction. A boundless horizon with no walls, no ceilings, and no rules.
And right in front of me, lying flat on the white floor, was a single, thick, leather-bound book.
My breath caught in my throat. I ran toward it, dropping heavily to my knees in the dust. The cover was blank, save for a single title written in glowing silver letters: The God Of The Rust District.
"Aminata," I whispered, my hands shaking as I reached out and grabbed the cover.
I pulled the book open. The pages inside were filled with lines of black text detailing every single thing that had happened since the rainy alley in Sector 4. I flipped the pages rapidly, my heart pounding against my ribs, searching for her name, searching for the line where Director Jade had deleted her.
"Looking for someone, little brother?"
The voice came from right behind my shoulder.
I froze. Every muscle in my body went rigid. I knew that voice. I had heard it in the dark interrogation room, on the crumbling platform, and through the cold lenses of the system monitors.
I slowly turned around.
Standing just a few feet away, leaning casually against a floating column of light, was a young woman in a black tactical jacket. Her dark hair was tied back, and a small, confident smile played across her lips. Her dark eyes were sharp, bright, and completely alive.
Aminata.
I scrambled to my feet, dropping the book as I crossed the distance between us and grabbed her by the shoulders. "You're... you're here. How? Jade deleted your file!"
"Jade was just a middle manager playing with tools he didn't understand," Aminata said smoothly, raising her hand to show a small, glowing silver shard she had salvaged from the wreckage. "When you broke the core archive, the system's deletion protocols glitched out. I used the fragments of my own character code to rewrite my exit before the page closed."
A massive wave of relief washed over me, so strong it made my knees weak. I pulled her into a tight hug, holding onto her like I was afraid she would turn into paper again. She hesitated for a second before wrapping her arms around my back, patting my shoulder with a rare touch of warmth.
"Okay, okay, save the emotional reunion for later," Aminata said, pulling back with a small smirk. "We have a bigger problem."
"What problem?" I asked, looking around the endless white horizon. "We beat the editors. We destroyed the archive. There's no one left to stop us."
"We beat our editors," Aminata corrected, her expression turning serious as she pointed a finger toward the far edge of the boundless white page. "Look over there."
I turned and looked in the direction she was pointing.
Far out across the unwritten horizon, miles away from where we stood, the pure white floor was beginning to crack open. A massive shadow was rising up from the deep white void—something much larger, much older, and far more powerful than Master Vance or Director Jade ever were.
A towering, multi-headed mechanical beast made of glowing red text and heavy steel gears rose into the air, letting out a digital roar that shook the very ground beneath our boots. And resting on top of its central core was a giant, open ledger filled with thousands of active contracts from every popular genre across the entire platform.
The main publishing board was waking up.
Aminata reached into her tactical jacket, pulled out her fully recharged crystal gun, and clicked the safety off with a sharp snap. She looked over at me, her eyes shining with the kind of dangerous, thrilling focus that had kept us alive from the very beginning.
"It looks like," Aminata said, cocking her weapon as the massive beast turned its glowing red eyes straight toward us, "we just opened the rest of the library."
I looked down at the silver pen in my hand, feeling the dark cosmic ink pulse steadily beneath my skin. Then I looked at my sister, standing right beside me on the edge of an infinite, unwritten world.
"Then let's go rewrite every single one of them," I said.

The Final Choice
The blinding wave of golden light crashed over us like a tidal wave, tearing through the white chamber and ripping the countdown timer into tiny, harmless shreds.I hit the floor hard, sliding across smooth glass before scrambling back up to my feet. My breath came fast and heavy, the silver pen gripped so tight in my hand that my knuckles had turned completely white."Kofi!" Aminata called out, rushing over with her crystal gun still firmly in hand. "Look at the screen."I followed her gaze up toward the massive sky above the chamber. The red warning alarms had vanished entirely. The terrifying purge countdown was gone, replaced by a clean, brilliant blue sky that stretched out endlessly across the digital horizon. Millions of floating story islands drifted peacefully i
The Last Page
The golden words on the page dissolved into a dark, bleeding red, forming a new sentence that made my stomach drop.THE CONTRACT IS VALID, BUT THE STORY DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU.I gripped the silver pen tight, staring at the book as the white chamber began to tremble. Aminata stepped up beside me, her crystal gun raised and locked on the blank space above the altar."What does that mean, Kofi?" Aminata asked, her voice calm even as the floor beneath us started to fracture. "We deleted the copy. We secured the system update."Before I could answer, the air above the massive book tore wide open.A pair of hands reached through the tear, pulling the digital fabric apart to reveal a figure stepping out of the shadows. It was not a
The Final Rewrite
The digital void rushed past us with a terrifying roar, pulling Aminata and me downward through endless layers of flashing text and broken server code.I clutched the silver pen tight in my palm, watching the dark cosmic ink pulse rapidly against my skin as the wind tore at my jacket. Beside me, Aminata twisted through the rushing air with absolute grace, her eyes locked on a solid ledge of light forming several meters below."Catch my hand!" Aminata called out, her voice cutting cleanly through the noise.I reached out blindly, my fingers wrapping around her cold grip just as she fired her crystal gun straight down into the glowing ledge. The True Owner
The golden contract window flashed a blinding crimson red, and the word UNRESTRICTED burned away into ash right before our eyes.I froze, the silver pen heavy in my hand as the platform beneath our feet began to vibrate violently. The blue sky above Sector Prime turned pitch black in a single second, replaced by millions of jagged red lines of computer code that wrapped around the floating islands like giant spider webs."What is happening?" Marcus shouted over the rising roar of the wind, grabbing his rifle as the glass platform cracked beneath his boots."The system didn't belong to the board, and it didn't belong to Sterling or the Chief Editor," Director Jade said, his face draining of all color as he stared up at the crimson sky. "They were just local managers renting server space. Someone else built the core d
The Final Contract
The bottomless drop ended in a flash of blinding white light, and I slammed hard onto a smooth glass platform that hovered in the middle of an endless sky.I coughed, gripping the silver pen in one hand and the glowing white feather in the other. Beside me, Aminata and Marcus rolled onto the glass, gasping for air, while Director Jade landed neatly on his feet like he owned the place."Where is she?" Marcus asked, raising his rifle and scanning the empty horizon around us."She's still in the core system," Jade answered, brushing a speck of dust off his immaculate suit jacket. "The Chief Editor cannot delete us here. This is the raw publishing draft level, the place where every contract on the platform is born before it gets locked behind paywalls and coin walls."Before
The Source Room
The golden portal spat us out onto a freezing steel floor, and my breath fogged up the air instantly.I scrambled up, coughing from the sudden cold, and gripped the silver pen tight in my hand. The dark cosmic ink pulsed against my skin, warm and steady. Beside me, Marcus groaned, dragging himself out of a heap of discarded digital wires, while Aminata was already on her feet, her crystal gun raised and sweeping the perimeter."Where are we now?" Marcus asked, rubbing his shoulder as he looked around the room. There were no glowing libraries or glass towers here. We were standing inside a massive, circular vault built of thick, black iron plates. Giant cables hung from the ceiling like thick black snakes, pumping blue light into the floor. In the very center of the room sat a single, raised stone altar holding an op
