"Fifteen seconds, Andres."

A heavy iron sledgehammer smashed against the outer steel door. The metal frame groaned under the impact, shaking flakes of rust onto the concrete floor.

Andres's goons backed away toward the rear exit, their pistols trembling in their hands. They did not even look at Leo anymore. All four of them kept their eyes glued to the main entrance as the steel plate bowed inward under a second heavy blow.

"Ten seconds," Leo said. He held his phone flat in his palm, his thumb hovering right over the screen.

"You crazy bastard!" Andres screamed. His rough voice pitched high into pure panic. "Tell them to stop!"

"I am not entering the code until you get on your knees and beg me to save your life," Leo replied.

"I paid you!" Andres yelled, his chest heaving. "I gave you back your receipt! The debt is done!"

"Five seconds," Leo said. His voice remained completely flat.

The lock on the heavy front door snapped with a loud metallic pop. Dust poured down from the ceiling rafters, coating the air in a gray haze.

Andres collapsed forward. His knees hit the filthy, oil-stained concrete with a hard thud. He pressed his palms together in front of his chest and looked up at Leo with wild, desperate eyes.

"Please!" Andres sobbed, every bit of his street-gang toughness vanishing into thin air. "Please, Leo, enter the code! Do not let them come in here! I am begging you!"

Leo tapped the screen twice.

The heavy pounding outside stopped instantly. A soft chime rang from Leo's phone, displaying a short confirmation message from the Red Mask leader: Payment verified. Team pulling back.

Outside the yard, the heavy diesel engines hummed as the black vans slowly backed away from the gate, leaving the warehouse in total silence.

Andres remained on his knees, gasping for air, his forehead practically touching the toes of Leo's shoes.

Suddenly, sound cut out entirely.

The dust particles floating through the air froze in mid-flight. The air conditioner's hum died instantly, leaving the entire space trapped in a motionless bubble.

Crimson light erupted across Leo's vision as system windows expanded across the room, glowing with blinding intensity.

[Condition Met: Target 'Underworld Loan Shark Andres' has groveled at your feet.]

[First Humiliation Achieved.]

[Channel 9042 Viewership: 1,450,000 High-Realm Observers.]

A barrage of messages flooded the chat interface at blistering speed, text scrolling so fast it blurred into a wave of color.

Constellation 'Shadow Hunter' says: HAHAHAHA! Look at his avatar! On his knees begging a zero-stat human!

Constellation 'Silver Knight' says: Total disgrace! Hey Crimson Warlord, you claimed Andres was going to conquer the city docks this month!

Constellation 'Storm Sovereign' says: Crimson Warlord's champion just begged for his life like a frightened dog! Pay up your bets, you fraud!

Constellation 'Golden Archer' says: Imagine giving your avatar physical buffs just for him to get outsmarted by twenty thousand dollars cash! Crimson Warlord in absolute shambles right now!

Leo stared at the scrolling chat, his eyes widening. "Wait... Andres had a Constellation?"

"Of course he did," the Sovereign roars with laughter, his voice vibrating through Leo's skull with absolute triumph. "Did you think you were the only human backed by a higher power? Crimson Warlord gave Andres three physical buffs last month to help him take over these docks. And yet, your simple mind-game brought his precious champion straight to his knees without you landing a single punch!"

Leo looked down at the trembling loan shark frozen on the floor. Cold realization washed over him. The world was far more dangerous than he had ever imagined. The mob bosses, the corporate tycoons, maybe even the elite families in the city were all pawns in this celestial game.

The main reward notification flashed in bright gold across the center of his screen.

[First Humiliation Reward: 500 System Points Granted.]

[Unique Passive Skill Unlocked: Absolute Poker Face.]

[Skill Effect: Completely conceals your emotional state, heartbeat, body temperature, and true intentions from all human detection, lie detectors, and lower-tier system scans.]

"Absolute Poker Face," Leo murmured.

"A fitting reward for a mortal who wins through deception," the Sovereign said, his tone dripping with supreme satisfaction. "Look at the high-realm chat, Leo. Crimson Warlord just lost eight hundred thousand divine coins because his avatar groveled before you. You made us rich tonight, boy."

The Sovereign paused, his voice lowering into a sharp, dangerous rumble.

"Now... your debt is clear, your sister's medical funds are secured, and your pockets are full of points. It is time to deal with the people who put you in that hospital bed in the first place."

Leo had the hotel driver drop him at the bottom of the hill and walked the rest of the way up to the Leroy estate. As far as the Leroys knew, he was still a man who couldn't afford a bus ticket, and until the auction tomorrow night, he wanted them to go on believing it.The guard at the front gate recognized him from fifty feet away and kept his feet up on the desk. "Service road, Leo," he called through the window, pointing with his coffee cup toward the side of the property. "Mrs. Leroy's orders. Your stuff's out back by the garage. The rubbish truck comes at ten, so I'd hurry."The service road ran along the outside of the garden wall, past the greenhouse and the pool house, and ended at a concrete yard behind the garage where the staff kept the bins. There were three of them lined up against the wall, and Leo knew what he would find before he reached them, because a sleeve of his old work jacket was hanging over the lip of the nearest one.Four years in this house, and everything

The elevator doors slid open onto the parking level under Vane & Co., and Dominic was standing right in front of them.He had obviously been waiting a while, because he was halfway through another lap of pacing when the doors opened, and he turned around so fast that his jacket swung open. Behind him, the garage stretched away in long rows of concrete pillars and parked cars. Half the ceiling bulbs had burned out, and somewhere near the exit ramp a pipe was dripping onto the floor in a rhythm that never settled."There he is," Dominic said, spreading his arms with a grin that showed up a second too late to look natural. "The man of the hour."Leo stepped out and let the doors close behind him. The fitting had taken forty minutes, and at the end of it the tailor's assistant had announced, a little too proudly, that the Grand Palace's car was waiting for Mr. Leo on the lower level. Dominic must have been within earshot."Where's Elena?" Leo asked."Up in the car. I told her I had to sor

The sedan pulled away from the Grand Palace with Croft's black envelope still tucked inside Leo's jacket, and before the car reached the end of the block, he opened the system market."Sovereign," he said under his breath, keeping his eyes on the back of the driver's head. "I need to see what people are hiding. Is there anything for that?"The red interface unfolded in the air in front of him, and the familiar voice rolled into his head with open amusement. "You are asking for a skill? Not paper money, not a larger hotel room, but an actual skill?" The Sovereign made a sound that might have been a laugh. "I may need a moment to recover.""Is there one or not?""There is a basic appraisal function. Eugene took a half-step forward, pointing a shaking finger at the matte-black card on the table. "Sir! You can't listen to this guy. He's a fraud! Look at what he's wearing. He probably stole that key card from room service or found it on the floor!" The broad-shouldered man did not even glance at Eugene. He kept his sharp, grey eyes fixed squarely on Leo. "Eugene," the man said softly. His voice was low, but it cut through the room like a cold knife. "You wear an off-the-rack polo, brag about a leased car, and make noise in a room full of working men. Pick up your racket and leave." Eugene’s face flushed a deep, burning red. He opened his mouth to protest, but one of the four heavy security guards took a single step forward, towering over him. Eugene swallowed his words, grabbed his graphite racket off the table, and hurried out of the lounge without looking back. His two friends quietly followed right behind him. The broad-shouldered man walked over to the table and picked up th

The high-rise suite was completely silent save for the faint hum of the central air. Leo sat on the edge of the king-sized bed, staring at the translucent system interface floating in the air before him. "What comes after this?" Leo asked, his voice low in the quiet room. "What is the second course of the market?" "You think this city is the entire game?" The Sovereign’s voice echoed in his mind, carrying a dry, amused rasp. "This is merely the warmup stage, boy. Right now, you are playing in a localized sandbox. But if Channel 9042 keeps pulling in high-realm viewers, the system automatically unlocks higher server phases." Leo tilted his head. "Higher phases?" "Stage clearing," the Sovereign said bluntly. "Dimensional incursions, territorial wars, and trial zones where you fight for survival against horrors that would turn your mortal mind to ash. Right now, you are arguing over paper money and hotel rooms. Enjoy the warm showers and soft sheets while you can. Not every stage wil
