The moment the separated goblin army began heading toward the Gordons mages who stood atop a makeshift earth hill they’d conjured through elemental manipulation, Marcus felt a surge of satisfaction.

As even if Alec had intended to avoid the battle, he’d be forced to intervene now.

Marcus silently hoped that this time, the Gordons would finally lose at least a portion of their forces, as the only reason they’d maintained their elevated status for so long was that most of their members always survived the Blood Moon unlike the other clans.

And those survivors—seasoned by each event, were the very veterans that made the Gordons clan so deadly in large-scale warfare.

“Tier 1, 2, and 3—execute the first plan,” Alec ordered calmly, without even bothering to look up, as the three sub-tier leaders stepped forward with the surrounding mages parting, giving them space to advance.

Alec had already drilled them through multiple scenarios, and now it was time to act.

  • Her Turn 2.

“My turn!” Agnes declared as her wand shifted once more into its staff form. She slammed it against the ground, and Kylian’s expression darkened as glowing lights flared beneath his feet.“Shit!” he cursed, realizing too late that he was standing in the middle of five rune circles, he hadn’t even noticed when they were set, all the while Agnes had been retreating, she had been inscribing her summoning runes with each mana-laced step. What made it unknown was the subtle trick at the start of the battle: Agnes had cast a thin, spreading stream of water across the arena floor, Kylian had dismissed it as harmless, failing to realize it was meant to mask the summoning patterns beneath. Now, the very element he ignored had been used to camouflage a battlefield trap and he had walked straight into it. All this time, he believed he was the one planning ahead, scheming and staying a step in front, but now it dawned on him, he had been overconfident, just like Asher. And though he would neve

  • Her Turn.

The reserve team of the Royal Mage Academy wasted no time, as they swiftly carried Asher Blaze’s unconscious body off the stage while Liam clenched his teeth in frustration. The battle had barely begun, and things were already slipping out of his control—something he couldn’t stand. Though the Royal Mage Academy had brought in a new fighter to replace Lucas’ twin brother, who is a part of his old main team and hadn’t returned to academy after the first year holidays, and the new addition was stronger, however he had expected all this as he new addition was from the Tudor family, just like Liam, and clearly strong. Still, none of them had anticipated that the War God Mage Academy would be hiding someone with such a special ability too. They didn’t even recognize Katie, despite having seen her before. Because she hadn’t stood out during the previous encounter in the capital, they had dismissed her as unimportant and failed to realize she had been an original member of the War God

  • First Win.

To control the trajectory of one's attacks effectively, strong mental strength and focus are essentially needed, as only then can the attacks be manipulated with precision.Asher, who is attempting to flaunt his mental prowess, pushed himself to guide ten fireballs simultaneously using his limited mental power, which eventually caused the sweat to pour down from his forehead. Even he had never expected the battle to reach this point, his plan was simple: cast [Exploding Fire Balls], allow them to get close to his opponent, then detonate one to trigger a chain reaction that would force Katie off the stage in a fiery blast. But things hadn’t gone as planned. Katie not only evaded every attack with surprising agility, she had also destroyed two of the fireballs while maintaining her distance, Asher was left straining to direct the remaining ones, as his mental energy was rapidly draining. With the pressure mounting on him, and a pulsing headache beginning to take hold, it was almost li

  • First Match.

“Why would you choose that line-up? Are you trying to hand them the match? If you won’t fight yourself, at least let Beatrice step in,” the dean snapped.Alec only shook his head.“Not necessary, adding Beatrice would be bullying, especially with Pale, Brandon, and Lucas already on the team.” He glanced at the two women nearby.“No offense, ladies—you’re stars. I just didn’t pick you to win this for me; think of it as an experience match.” He leaned back against the bench as the two ladies shrugged.“You expect me to stand by while you throw away our victory?” the Dean pressed.Alec shrugged, turning his blindfolded gaze toward him.“I’m the captain, and I believe no one knows this team’s strength better than I do, even if they’ve improved since our last spar, I can still gauge their limits. Trust Lucas—he’s practically like my second vice-captain.” With that, Alec ended this discussion. He had chosen the roster he wanted against the Royal Mage Academy, now the dean had to decide ei

  • Scorn.

Seeing Alec looking so different stirred countless questions in the minds of the Royal Mage Academy team, but before anyone could voice them, the judge mage gave his response.“A standard one-on-one elimination format, each academy team is to select five representatives, and the last person standing among any of the other five will determine which team claims victory.”As soon as the rules were stated, mages from both sides began sizing one another up, when the Royal Mage Academy team scrutinized the War God Mage Academy’s line-up, their expressions shifted in surprise, nearly every member had reached the Tier 6 realm, surprising them.Even Katie, who had once been just shy of that threshold, had now stepped into Tier 6. Since returning to the academy, she’d received significant support as one of the top-ranked talents on the Earth List, and it had paid off.Only Alec appeared to remain at peak Tier 5.Of course, none of them had the power to see through the suppressive effects of hi

  • Arrival.

The Grand Royal Arena had been fully decorated, and the battle ring had been upgraded, both the ring and the energy shielding had been reinforced with materials capable of withstanding the might of Tier 7 mages. This was the extent of the royal family’s investment in the showdown between the two academies; they wanted to make a strong impression on the elite mages sent to oversee what was officially called an indoor battle.Despite the significance of the event, the battle was not open to the public. There was no cheering crowd, the only ones allowed were the top officials of the Royal Mage Academy, the War God Mage Academy, and a few high-ranking mages sent by the King of the Northern Kingdom to represent him.Amusingly, though the match hadn’t even officially begun, yet the whole Royal Mage Academy team had already arrived in full force, at the front stood Liam, looking more smug than ever.He was feeling confident—very confident. Having advanced to mid Tier 6 with support of t
