“Thank you very much, Dad. I love you!”

Lukas then turned off his call, then he came out wearing a new shirt. However, it wasn’t that easy for Lukas to escape from Brian and Renata. In fact, his two step siblings really made it impossible for Lukas to go anywhere.

“Wow, wow, wow… Looks like our family servant had enough guts to enter from the main door in his dirty clothes, when I told him to stay behind until the party was over. Are you deaf now, Lukas?”

“Sorry, I don’t need to listen to everything you say, Brian.”

“Tsk! Look, this man who feels betrayed because of his love. Your fate is truly unfortunate, I just can’t bear to see you hear the big news that our father will announce.Namely my engagement to Amanda. Or do you really want to hear it, then you will cry in the corner sobbing? Okay, I will capture that moment and I will play it every time I feel annoyed with my work.” Brian continued to mock Lukas because of this.

“Don’t be too arrogant, Brian. We will never know what someone’s destiny will be, being too self-confident is not a good thing, don’t make God angry and then change your rotten destiny.” Lukas said with a sarcastic smile, he was about to leave but was stopped by Brian and his two friends.

And of course, this made Brian feel even more angry, because Lukas’ attitude turned brave towards him.

“What do you mean, Lukas? Amanda and I are already in a relationship, and our families both approve of it. Why do you act as if you are going to change everything?”

Lukas nodded his head, and now he stepped closer to Brian while puffing out his chest.

“How about we make a bet, Brian.”

“What do you mean?”

“If tonight is true you will be engaged to Amanda, and you two will really get married. Then I will be your servant until I die. However, if you fail to get married, then you must kneel and apologize to me for everything you have done to me. How about that ?”

“Quite interesting, but I don’t want you to just be my servant. What if in front of all of Dad’s invited guests, you kneel and kiss my feet, then you say directly that you will be my servant forever?”

“Fine, I agree!” Lukas said confidently.

Not long after, the atmosphere became silent. Mr. Michael took the microphone to amplify his voice, after doing a test. He started making speeches. Until finally he said what Brian and Lukas had been waiting for.

“On my birthday, I will also announce some happy news for you. My only son, Brian Michael, were to marry the only daughter of the Lewis family. I deliberately held their engagement event tonight, to make it seem more festive and profound. So, I want the two prospective bride and groom to immediately come closer to exchange rings.”

“Wait!” The exclamation made all the invited guests turn their heads.

Mr. Lewis walked unsteadily with a serious expression on his face, a tense and quite frightened expression. He had just received a phone call that disturbed his thoughts.

“What’s wrong, Mr. Lewis? This is a ring exchange event for our children’s engagement.”

“I’m sorry, Mr. Michael, and I’m sorry for all the invited guests. Maybe this will make everyone uncomfortable. I just want to say that this engagement is cancelled, and there will be no marriage between the Lewis family and the Michael family ever.”

Boom!

Lukas immediately smiled triumphantly, while Brian and Amanda could only stare like fools there.

Mr. Michael, who couldn’t bear the shame, didn’t accept it. He immediately rushed to grab Mr Lewis’s hand to ask for definite clarity on this issue.

“What the hell, Mr. Lewis! How can you cancel our children’s arranged marriage event with one party just like that? This is the most unfair thing. I can’t accept you treating me like this!” snapped Mr. Michael. “You have embarrassed me in front of many invited guests and they are my important people and business relations! Where should I put my face, Mr. Lewis!”

“This wedding is to unite not only our children in a marriage bond, but to establish solid cooperation for two families. Currently the Malik family company has resigned to become a permanent investor in the Lewis family company, now what benefits can we get? We don’t benefit from each other. So it’s better if we just cancel this engagement.”

“What? Has he gone crazy?”

“It can’t be helped, everyone definitely has the desire to continue maintaining their company, and so do I. I don’t want to lose my most loyal business relationship, so I hope you can understand that. And I think, you should also approach Mr. Malik, he is the only stable company that can help you right now.”

“I can’t believe that all this could happen! What kind of grudge does Mr. Lewis have to do something like that to me!” Mr. Michael was annoyed.

Lukas didn’t care about the two adults arguing, he walked over to Brian and Amanda. The pair of lovers who were currently standing stupidly.

“How about it, I won the bet, right? So I take your promise. Kneel before me and admit all your mistakes, in front of all these invited guests, Brian.”

Brian immediately pushed Lukas’ body, until Lukas took a few steps back to compensate so that his body wouldn’t fall. Then he stood up, looking at Brian who was already mad at him.

“I will never kneel, let alone worship you, Lukas. Who are you? You’re just an adopted child? You are a servant in my family, even if I die I will never do that.”

“So, you’ve become a coward who will ignore your words? Wow, Brian Michael. I can’t believe you are like that.”

“Shut up, Lukas! I don’t care!”

“Guys, look at this, Brian Michael doesn’t want to do what he said. He lost the bet but doesn’t want to accept the punishment!”

Brian became angry again, without saying anything he immediately left. Embarrassment crept onto his face. Brian vowed to avenge Lukas after this.
