Chapter 10 [Luminous Rittersett]

Rooaarrrr!

A giant bear standing on two legs with wisps of flames covering it's body roared in pain.

There was a green, glowing arrow sticking in it's left eye and greenish veins covered the left side of it's face, squirming erratically.

Raiden faced against the huge bear which was more than double his already big size, there was a visible claw mark on his chest.

The piece of white cloth, which was tied on his left arm, poured out a burst of white light which started to quickly heal his wounds.

Bang!

He gripped the silver battleaxe tightly and blocked the fiery claws of the giant bear which caused the ground around him to cave in.

"Haaaaaa!" Raiden roared and dense silver aura erupted from his body, temporarily increasing his strength threefold.

His muscles bulged to their limit and he jerked the battleaxe against the bear's claw, causing it to be thrown back and take a few steps back, creating a split second of opening.

"Now!' Kane shouted from a tree with the green elven bow in his hand.

"Thorn Bind! Lighting Spear!" Riri released the two spells she had already prepared.

Dozens of green, thorny vines broke apart the earth and wrapped around the flaming bear before a spear made of lightning zapped it.

As the bear roared and tried to free itself from the thorny vines, Raiden covered in the thick silver aura slashed at it with his battle axe, tearing it's flesh and creating a deep wound on it's thigh.

Bang!

The flaming bear fell down on it's fours with a loud noise.

At that moment, a winged lion crashed down at the bear's back from the sky at an extreme speed, completely crushing it's spine and pinning it to the ground.

A hideous orc covered in red aura jumped down from atop the draylion, slashing it's giant sword at the bear's defenseless neck.

Shlweeck!

The sword cleaved through flesh and bone, completely severing the head from it's body.

"Grwoooo!" The hideous orc lifted up the giant head with both of his hands and roared loudly.

"Okay there buddy, calm down" Alph also jumped down from the back of the draylion, a smile was plastered on his face.

"Nice work Alph or should I say, as expect!" Kane leaped down from the tree and praised as he walked towards them.

"Hey! Where's my complement? It was me who went in and fought the bear till y'all could prepare!" Raiden folded his arms and pouted jokingly.

"You also did great Raiden, you are our frontliner after all!" Alph patted his shoulder, doing which required him to stretch his hands above his head, and comforted.

"Ahahaha~ such a child! Can't you be more like Mokuzen? Look, he is so silent that I almost forgot he was here!" Riri laughed and pointed at the bald Mokuzen who had been waiting for a chance to join the battle, which unfortunately he didn't get.

Mokuzen only shifted his gaze, his expression ever the same.

Saila ran towards the boys with towels and handed them one each with a smile.

The past ten days Alph and the group had been travelling together and along the way they had grown closer and become friends due to Alph's relentless efforts.

Although Alph's identity as a Grimoire User was a big deal, Kane and the rest naturally opened up to him along the way.

Especially Riri who, in Kane's words, would probably even flirt with a demon king if it appeared in front of them.

"We should be arriving at the double rivers very soon. From there, it will take another day for us to reach the town of Ruid and exit the forest" Kane wiped his sweat with the towel and pulled out a map.

For Alph, these past ten days with Kane and the group had been the most enjoyable time of his life.

Back at Earth his parents had died in an accident when he was just a teenager and due to him not having any close relatives he had grown up alone, of course with occasional visitors coming to check up on him.

This had lead to him becoming a loner and throwing himself in the virtual world.

He would have never thought that moving one's body, which he had hated to his core, and venturing out with one's friends could be so much fun.

Albeit there was the fact that he was now in a fantasy world with magic and monster, and uniquely delicious food.

Along the way, they had fought many monster and the giant fire bear they had just killed was the strongest by far.

Alph had been trying his hardest to land as many killing blows as possible and secretly using the grimoir to devour their souls.

Without any dilly dallying the group started to move, they harvested the magical core from the flaming bear, and as always Alph had the orc stay behind with the grimoir.

Athough the others knew he was a Grimoire User, they didn't know what kind of Grimoire he had and they were kind enough to not ask either.

Alph also felt uncomfortable telling them about the nature of the Grimoire Of Gluttony, it was clearly an evil Grimoire and were it not for the Grimoire System there would have been sever consequences to using it.

They continued their journey and only one or two hours of walking later, the group arrived at a riverbank.

However unlike normal rivers, there were two streams of water flowing side by side.

They started building the tents and bonfire to prepare the dinner.

Soon the orc also came back and Alph felt that something had changed about the Grimoire, he decided to wait till the tents were done and check it in detail alone.

As the sky darkened, a small bonfire lit up besides the double rivers with a merry group surrounding it.

"Ahaha seriously though, ever since Alph has joined us, Mokuzen hasn't been getting any action. In more aspects than one!" Riri as always was being a tease, her words never missing the mark.

"And you have gotten a bit too excited!" Raiden was as always frustrated about her.

The rest of the group were merely laughing and enjoying, save for Mokuzen of course who was just sitting there with arms crossed and his eyes closed.

After having supper and chatting for a while, the group decided to rest. By tomorrow afternoon they would be reaching the town of Ruid and from their words Alph found out that the town, although small, was quite colorful.

Since it was located right next to the great forest of Lumina, the town was bustling with adventurers and the likes.

Entering his tent, Alph who had been waiting for the chance pulled out the Grimoire.

In appearance, it was the same as ever, old and tattered but as soon as he touched it a stream of information flowed inside his brain.

Aside from gaining an extra page, another one of the Grimoire's function had been unlocked.

He flipped to the introduction page and found out that the original introductional words had vanished and in their place a note had appeared.

[You have unlocked the Complete Control mode. Using complete control on a slave will allow the user to take over the slave for a set amount of time, the set amount will depend on the strength difference between the author and the slave.

To use this function the user needs to open the page of the slave they want to take over and give the command and to cancel it the user only needs to think about it. ]

"This...." Alph was left speechless, his mouth wide open.

"Does this mean I can control the slave I want to, like a fully emersive VR character? Holy shit!"

Without waiting for another second he summoned the orc, since the draylion was standing guard outside, and used complete control on it.

As soon as he gave the command his consciousness blurred and blacked out for a split second before it returned to normal.

However, in front of him right now was a young man with dark hair sitting cross legged with an old book on his lap.

The young man's eyes were glowing with purple light and he looked as if he was in a trance.

*Oh Fuck!*

"Grruak!" Alph, in the orc's body, cried out in shock but he could only make a growling sound.

*It works!*

"Gwahaha!" He laughed out in joy and amazement, but the sound he made was anything but pleasant.

"Hey what's going on in there? Why is the Orc suddenly shouting and laughing?"Riri's suggestive voice drifted from outside the tent, it contained more of amused curiosity than worry.

After all during their travel th Orc and the Draylion had shown complete obedience towards Alph, it was to the point that they had been suspecting if they were some magical puppets instead of tamed beasts.

*Oh shit, cancel*

Alph hurriedly cancelled the complete control mode before walking out of the tent.

"Ah sorry, did I cause a rockus?" He laughed apologetically.

"No no, it's fine. I just got out for a walk when I heard the orc's growling and laughing sounds. What were you doing anyways?"Riri shrugged before the usual hint of mischief appeared in her purplish eyes.

Out of the rest of the group, Riri was always more relaxed and open towards Alph, she would occasionally approach him when he was alone.

Of course Alph noticed the hint of interest she had towards him, he just didn't know how to react, it was his first time getting this type of attention from a woman.

"Haha it's nothing. Just trying some new things" Alph scratched the back of his head, unable to come up with a sound excuse.

"New things? Don't tell me you..." Riri looked at Alph with a strange expression before bursting out in laughter.

*Ah fuck!* Alph facepalmed himself internally.

"Ahahaha anyways, I'll go back to my tent. I don't want to interrupt your intimate moments~" Riri, still laughing, winked at him before walking away.

*I was so careless!*

"Huuuh!" He sighed in frustration.

After watching Riri enter her tent, Alph also went back inside.

"Oh right, I almost forgot!" He remembered about something that he had come up with and wanted to try.

Throughout the journey, he had seen bugs and insects and many of then were ones he had never seen before.

According to Kane, although there were deadly and dangerous bugs in this world, the great forest of Lumina didn't have any, the ones here were mostly harmless unless of course one purposely messed with them.

There were even bugs with magical attributes and Alph had thought of a question, what if he were to kill one and let the grimoir devour it's soul, do insects even have souls?

He pulled out a small glass container from his bag which contained an quad-winged insect, it was 2 inches big and had strange pulsing glowing marks on it's body.

It was a very rare insect which could only be found in this forest, and if it weren't for Kane who could be considered somewhat of an expert on the great forest of Lumina, it would have been impossible for Alph to catch it.

Of course even with Kane the insect was very hard to capture, it had some pretty strange and powerful abilities.

"Come out little fellow, it's time for your rebirth. Hopefully" He opened the container and let out the insect before immediately using a knife to kill it.

He then used the Grimoire to devour and surprisingly it did so.

"What the-" Alph read through the insect's description with wide eyes.

He already knew it was a magical bug according to the Grimoire it was a very high level creature.

Not only was did it have A Ranked mana pool and mana density, it even had a strange title.

"Looks like I hit the jackpot ones again!" Alph was already starting to come to terms with his luck at this point.

He experimented with the Rittersett and sure enough, it was somewhat overpowered.

If it was an adult with higher intelligence and better control of it's skills, Alph didn't think it would be possible to capture it even if he had 10 Kane's.

He ordered it to fly out of the tent and observed it through the Grimoire.

Sure enough, he could see the outside from a third person perspective aerial view.

"Hmmm? Kane and Saila?"

As he was flying the insect around, he saw Kane and Saila sitting side by side on a boulder near the double rivers.

Watching it as the third person, Alph could still feel the romantic air around them.

"Don't tell me!" A shrewd grin appeared on his face and he ordered the insect to use the Unseen Light skill and fly near them.

They sat very close to each other, their shoulders almost touching.

Saila was slightly blushing as she continuously peeked at Kane from the side.

Kane was staring at the vast sky filled with stars while saying something with a gentle smile.

Unfortunately the Grimoire Of Gluttony did not provide sound feedback and Alph could only try to guess what he was saying.

After talking for some time, Kane shifted his gaze to Saila and looked at her with the same gentle smile which caused Saila to blush even harder.

However, there was resolve in her pure eyes and after a split hesitation she nofded her head.

She didn't stop there though, raising her hands, she hugged Kane's head and moved her face closer to his.

"Alright, that's enough snooping around. I don't think my single heart can take anymore then this!" Alph unsummoned the insect, he didn't want to invade their private moment.

"Well, I guess I can only aim for Riri now. Not that I'm complaining" He joked to himself as a smile hung on his face.

Along the journey he did feel that the two might like each other but for some reason hadn't expressed their feelings yet.

Now that they had finally gotten through, Alph was genuinely feeling happy for them. To him, these new friends where the closest people he had left in the two worlds.
