Chapter 5

“Alex!” Rowan yelled and prepared to sprint towards his son, but a Magic Hunter with healing magic stopped him because his leg bones were broken.

In Alexander's mind, warning signals sounded. He carried Francis quickly. Then he raced as quickly and lightly as if the air was propelling him.

Everyone was stunned when Alexander lowered Francis from his arms to the ground next to Rowan.

A second ago, they froze and worried that Alexander and Francis would be roasted, and unexpectedly, the two people they were worried about were already with them. Alexander only needed one second to run.

Alexander didn't realize that people were looking at him with questions in their heads, especially Francis; he swears they were flying.

The black dragon realized too late that its two targets were no longer there. The fire from his mouth only burned the shady tree. He went into a rage because, again and again, he failed to kill his opponent.

Ten Hunters standing behind the dragon jointly attacked the dragon with swords and spears.

Seven Magic Hunters shot water from their hands at the black dragon to extinguish the fire from its mouth.

Four Magic Hunters assisted five Archer Hunters in shooting the dragon so their arrows were on target.

The black dragon was becoming increasingly raging on the top of the magic crystals he possessed. He couldn't fly because dozens of arrows were lodged in his wings.

Alexander held Francis' hand, forbidding his best friend from attacking the helpless black dragon along with his father and the other Hunters.

Francis didn't protest. He was sure that 38 Hunters and Magic Hunters could defeat the black dragon since they had discovered the proper formation to immobilize the dragon first, making it easier for them to kill it.

What made it difficult for them to kill dragons was that dragons have tough skin and can fly.

They have not found a way to float in the air without the help of tree branches and house roofs.

Rowan and a Hunter climbed different trees close behind the dragon. They stood on branches, and confidently, they jumped towards the raging dragon.

Rowan thrust his sword into the dragon's back while his friend thrust his spear deep into the dragon's shoulder. The black dragon shook his body to get rid of them, but the anguish just worsened.

The other Hunters didn't want to pass up the opportunity. Five Hunters climbed the dragon's body, inserting their swords and spears into some part of the dragon's body.

The other Hunters and Magic Hunters didn't stop attacking the black dragon.

Alexander stiffened. Francis grimaced and could only glance at his hand, which looked like it was about to be crushed by his best friend.

Alexander didn't know how he felt. He felt sorry for the innocent dragon, but as a child, he feared something terrible happening to his father.

Alexander's concern was heightened as his father pulled out his sword stuck in the dragon's back and fearlessly crept on the raging dragon's body, and then Rowan thrust his sword into the black dragon's neck.

"Dad!" Alexander shouted.

The black dragon suddenly became extremely powerful, and he could flap his wings, loaded with many arrows.

The dragon quickly tilted its body to the right and left, tossing the seven humans on top of it in all directions while their weapons remained poised on its body.

"Dad!" Alexander was about to run toward his father, but he stopped when he saw the dragon open its mouth.

“Save yourselves!” Alexander shouted very loudly, hoping everyone would hear him.

Alexander and Francis ran. Francis couldn't keep up with Alexander's running speed, and how unlucky he was, he fell after tripping over a rock. Alexander panicked when he saw Francis' nose bleeding profusely.

"Hot!"

“Damn dragon!”

Alexander and Francis froze, watching the fire from the black dragon's mouth burn several people who didn't have time to save themselves because they were so close to the dragon.

The dragon spat out flames again at the surrounding trees, and then he lay down on his pile of magic crystals with his gaze fixed on the people who had burned to death and those looking to get out of the fire trap.

“I watched people burn again.” Francis ruffled his hair, completely shocked.

Alexander held the bow tightly in his grip with gritted teeth. He already knew the truth, and he knew who they were supposed to kill, but now those people needed help.

He possesses a strength of 999.900. He was confident that no one had more power than him.

He has proven his strength and speed with 1.000.000 points each, making his arrows able to penetrate the dragon's neck and kill the dragon. He was sure losing 100 points wouldn't make him weak.

However, Alexander was confused about whether to prioritize humanity or justice. After all, it was his fault because he couldn't convince his father they didn't need to kill the dragons that inhabited the forest.

His helplessness had caused many Hunters to die, and to atone for his sins, would he have to kill another innocent dragon?

“Where are the seven Magic Hunters who have water magic?” Rowan asked, dragging his left leg around the circle of fire and trying to see who were the dead and trapped Hunters in there.

“They are in there. They are very close to the dragon.” A Hunter with a spear in his hand approached Rowan.

“Are they safe?” A Magic Hunter who couldn't use water magic worried about his friends. He had argued with six friends who also didn't have water magic; they couldn't find a solution to extinguish the fire.

“There are no rivers and lakes around here.” Rowan was frustrated. As the chief of the Klaudstion dragon hunting organization and the leader who leads this group, he must be responsible for saving those who were still alive and burying those who died.

“Please, save us. We are still alive!” A Hunter who was trapped in the circle of fire screamed.

“How many people are still alive?” Rowan tried to look in there, and he was surprised when someone pulled him back and advised him to think about what would happen if his face melted. Rowan rolled his eyes, reluctant to respond.

"Twelve people are still alive, but the sad news is that seven Magic Hunters and ten Hunters were burned to death."

Rowan and the other Hunters who survived felt their bodies weaken.

Alexander sat on the ground with his head lowered, looking at the grass. He decided not to kill the dragon because the huge flames prevented him from seeing the black dragon. To kill the dragon, he had to stick his arrow in the dragon's heart, neck, or head.

If Alexander missed his target, the dragon would go berserk again, and he was afraid that the dragon would burn the Hunters still alive in the circle of fire. The second possibility was that the arrow would hit the Hunter near the dragon.

“We will create wind magic!” Three Magic Hunters came up with a hazardous idea, but they would try it.

“But we cannot save those who died.”

Rowan and the other Hunters reluctantly agreed only to save those alive.

They gathered behind the dragon; they didn't know if the black dragon was observing those outside the circle of fire.

The three Magic Hunters stood before the large fire with 2 Hunters in different places. The 12 people in the circle of fire had split into three.

The two young women and one young man together created wind magic. The wind magic split the fire. The two Hunters standing next to the Magic Hunters pulled out the Hunters inside the fire circle quickly.

Without wasting any time, they immediately ran out of the forest before the black dragon went berserk and chased them.

They finished the dragon hunt today because they had lost seven Magic Hunters who had water magic. They wouldn't have been able to survive the dragon's torrent of fire without water magic.

[You have completed your task.]

[Congratulations on getting a reward and additional points.]

Alexander ignored the unfamiliar voice and a transparent blue window floated in his view. He just focused on running while holding Francis' hand tightly.

“To hell with a task! I don't deserve to be a hero. I can't save them!” Alexander growled.
