Chapter 8 -  The Leech

Kamil is one of  the senior executives at Will’s Pastry. He was the bigger cheat in the company that embezzled all the profits from the company.

Ms Williams was aware of all this but she didn’t fire him because he helped her when she was building the company.

It was hard overlooking his deeds but Ms Williams was kind enough to do it. She never confronted him about the funds, she only acted like she knew nothing about it.

Though Kamil’s intention was to make Ms Williams ask him for help so they can get together romantically but she never gave him the chance.

That is why he always looked for  cunning opportunities to be close to her.

Grey was a spy for Kamil, he often informed him about Ms Williams' movements.

Grey and Kamil, walked into the Ms Willams office without knocking. Immediately they saw her in Cephas’ hands, they pushed him.

“How dare you hold our dear Ms Williams in your hands?” Kamil snarled at him as he helped Ms Williasms up.

He was jealous that Cephas was close to Ms Williams now he was even holding her close to himself.

His blood boiled as if his body was on fire.

“A mere delivery man like you, trying to touch the CEO anyhow, can’t you have some shame?” He added angrily.

“How dare you try to touch her? Do  you think she is now your kind of woman after your wife, Violet, divorced you?” Grey yelled.

Ms Williams was surprised with the information he revealed, she didn’t know about the divorce.

“Oh, so he is trying to find another woman he can depend on? I always knew he was a gold digger since the day I saw him.” Kamil accused him.

“He must be so happy that his wife divorced because he found some other woman that he can rip off,” Grey added.

He fixed a venomous look on Cephas like he wanted to hit something on his head.

“He even looks like a leech, take a look at his eyes, he wants to suck our boss’ blood just like he did to his wife!” Grey faced Kamil. “Mr Kamil, we must not accept that.” He said sternly.

He was fueling Kamil up so that he would hurl insults at Cephas.

Cephas didn’t know what Violet's friends had against him, they loathed him from the time she had married him.

They gossiped about him at the wedding and didn’t even congratulate him. Grey was not even rich, he was a pushover that loved to hang out with the rich kids he can be well connected with.

Cephas made up his mind to deal with him as soon as he leaves the company.  Hypocrites like him needed to be taught lessons and he was going to do it.

“I will never allow this dirty idiot to force himself on her,” Kamil said, trying to impress Ms Williams.

Just then he pulled Cephas by shirt and tried to drag him,

“Stop!!!!!” Ms Williams screamed. “Leave him alone. Why are you dragging him and raining insults on him? He’s human too”

“I am old enough to defend myself and my dignity if anything happens." Ms williams said,

" but he is a creep, an insect that can harm you. Please watch out for him," he said, looking at Cephas with disgust.

"If you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything at all, you don't know what was going on" Ms Willams said, defending Cephas.

His investment had just saved her business and she was extremely grateful to him, so she couldn't let them talk to him anyhow, he was also now a partner in the business which meant that he was their boss and also had a right to choose who worked for the business.

Kamil was a bad person, and he had done more harm than good to her business but she also couldn't deny that he had been with her since she started.

She knew she shouldn't, but she felt indebted to him in a way, because at a point, it seemed like he was the only one who believed in her, and she felt like she had to repay him for it.

She had always questioned his intentions towards her, but he had never stepped out of line so she had no reason to cut him off.

"We just wanted to make sure you were okay, low lifes like these shouldn't be anywhere close to you " Kamil said again, trying to pry Ms Williams away from Cephas.

She knew that people around didn't respect Cephas but she didn't know it was this bad. There were other jobs that he could have taken to avoid this disrespect, but he stayed diligent so that he could provide for his wife, that was one thing she admired most about him.

"He's not a lowlife, and you don't know how much he just saved this business. Without him, none of us here would have jobs in a few weeks" she said, Her voice rising.

"He's more than an employee now, and you can't talk to him anyhow, you all need to start respecting him around here"

"What exactly could a mere delivery man have done to save us all" Gray said, his voice mocking Cephas.

"He just became-" she started,

"The vice president of the company" Cephas completed for her.

Ms Williams turned to him in shock, she didn't understand why he cut her off and lied about it to them. If she were the one that had been disrespected that much, she wouldn’t waste a second if she had the chance to finally shame them.

Cephas turned to face Ms Williams, he knew what she was thinking. They both deserved to be insulted, but he wasn't going to do that, he wanted them to respect him for what he had done, not who he is.

If they knew who he was, then they would try to befriend him to use him as a connection to higher places in the business world.

"I am now the new vice president of Will's pastry" He said again, looking at Kamil.

"W...wh...what do you mean" Kamil said, his face growing red "How did this happen?!"

Then he turned to face Ms Williams.

"Even after everything we've been through together, and everything I've done for you, you put this disgusting delivery man as my boss?"

"Kamil, don't talk about him like that!" She replied firmly.

"If you cared so much about the business, then you should know that it was about to go under" Cephas said calmly "I brought in some ghost investors to save the company, and Ms Williams was so impressed that she made me vice president."

Kamil couldn't believe his ears, he never felt so betrayed. He had been with Ms Williams from the start and she had never offered him the position of vice president.

It wouldn't have mattered if the position had gone to anybody, but she had given it to someone who was so beneath him, and that was very insulting"

He closed his eyes and breathed out, he would have left if not for his feelings for Ms Williams.

Someday she would realize that she needed him and loved him, and he would be there, waiting with his arms open. But for now he had to decide what to do about this terrible delivery man.

Cephas remembered that his younger sister was sitting outside, waiting for him.
