"Do you want me to come with you, boss?" Edward asked when Benjamin was prepared to go out, but Benjamin waved him off.
He got into the waiting sedan and headed out.
When he strode into the building and headed straight for the receptionist's desk, he was greeted.
"Benjamin Hart to see Miss Glen."
The receptionist raised her head at the familiar name, then her eyes widened at the sight in front of her, and then she scoffed loudly.
"Whose clothes did you rent to come here? And how do you even know the boss's name?"
It was Barb, Diana's best friend.
It was a huge surprise to see Benjamin before her, and not only that. He looked different from the delivery bike operator. He looked… Groomed.
Not I took a bath and put on deodorant, groomed my beard, but I got a $400 haircut and got styled by a $ 200-an-hour celebrity stylist, even the smell he came in with smelled expensive.
He looked like a model who had stepped out of a fashion magazine and Barb's mouth could not help but water at the delicious sight before her.
She had just heard that Diana and Benjamin had already signed the divorce papers and were only waiting to go to the registry so that everything would be final.
Barb had always eyed her best friend's husband because of his unbelievable good looks. Even though she treated him like she detested him, it was all just a front, she was actually jealous that Diana had such a handsome husband.
Now that she saw him at her office, she decided to take advantage of the situation and get to have a taste of Benjamin.
Even though she was not as foolish as Diana to marry such a handsome bum, she could keep him on the side and give him pocket money while he took care of her needs.
"You must have lost your way," Barb rose to her feet and leaned forward and pouted, "This is not a modelling agency. Since Diana has kicked you out, you must be looking for an extra source of income."
Benjamin's face remained unchanged, and he repeated, "I am here to see Miss Glen, she is expecting me."
While he was aware that Brab worked at Glen Crest, Benjamin did not think that he would see her because she had boasted that she worked directly with the CEO. Never would he expect that she was actually just a receptionist.
Hearing his strict tone, Barb straightened up, the warmth disappearing from her eyes.
"So, you are here for a sugar mommy." Barb taunted, disappointment colouring her voice. "You should know that Miss Glen is not like Diana, she has a long stream of wealthy admirers, you can't do anything for her."
"Now, I on the other hand," Barb said, her eyes gleaming as she took a long, leisurely, appreciative look at Benjamin that made his skin crawl in disgust.
"I can take care of you, even better than Diana did, just be faithful to me and all your worries will disappear."
"On what, your miserly receptionist salary?" Benjamin asked sarcastically. "I don't have time to deal with a lowly servant like you. Get me, Miss Glen immediately."
The smile on Barb's face was wiped off immediately, her eyes reddened with anger at being called a servant by Benjamin of all people.
Her hackles were raised, and she wanted his blood, that was the only thing that could appease her at that point.
"Because you rented a fancy suit, you think you can come here and act high and mighty?" Barb spat. "I will teach you to respect your betters, you useless bum."
She picked up the intercom and spoke into it.
"Security, I have a vagrant who is trying to cause a scene here."
She stared at Benjamin smugly.
"I tried to reach out a helping hand towards you, but instead you spat in my face. I would like to see just how you mouth off when you are kicked out of here."
She looked scornfully at Benjamin, and when two security men arrived, she smirked and pointed at him.
"This is the vagrant."
The security men looked at Benjamin, then at Barb, and hesitated.
When Barb said a vagrant was causing a nuisance, they expected to see someone untidy and smelly.
The young man in front of them looked like he was a member of one of the elite families, not only that, but they had seen him step down from the back of a Rolls-Royce on the security monitors. How then could he be a vagrant?
They did not want to make a mistake that would cost them their jobs and ruin their lives.
"Miss Barb, who do you say is the vagrant?" One of the guards asked timidly.
"What? Are you stupid? That is him right there." Barb pointed at Benjamin, who looked like he could not be bothered by Barb's antics.
His calm countenance made the guards hesitate even more, he had the aura of someone who had power and was not afraid to use it.
They had a feeling that messing with him would surely bring trouble.
When Barb saw that they were hesitating, she wanted to pull her hair out.
"Don't be fooled by his fancy clothes, he stole them to impress Miss Glen because he is looking for a sugar mommy," Barb warned.
"I know all this because he did the same thing to my best friend, and once he had drained her of her money, he ran off and is now looking for a new victim."
Her serpentine eyes turned to Benjamin. "You don't want our boss to fall into his trap, do you? Moreover, this is her order."
The guards stared at Cameron, seeing him in a new light.
They had heard stories of fortune hunters and gold diggers, young men who did not want to work and instead spent their time chasing beautiful women and using them. Such a man disgusted them.
With his good looks and pristine clothes, he fit the image of what a gold digger would look like. And since Barb seemed to know him, then surely she was telling the truth.
They could not imagine such a man taking advantage of their sweet, innocent boss.
"You are a disgrace to men worldwide. How dare you come here to try to seduce our boss? Today I will surely teach you a lesson." One of the guards stepped forward menacingly, but a glance from Benjamin froze him in his step.
The guard was rethinking his decision to touch the young man when Barb's voice spurred him on.
"Yes, he deserves to be taught a lesson, take him away."
"You want to be careful how you treat me, it will surely not end well for you," Benjamin said calmly.
"When you are thrown in jail, maybe you can explain better." The other guard said and seized one of Benjamin's arms while the other grabbed his other arm.
Suddenly, the elevator doors opened with a ding, and out stepped Angela Glen, looking graceful.
Angela had been informed by Edward to expect his boss, Benjamin Hart, about thirty minutes ago. After waiting for no sign of him, she started to worry so she called Edward, who insisted Benjamin was already at the company.
Worried that something might have happened to him, she had come down herself to look for him only to find commotion going on at the front desk.
"What is going on here?" Angela demanded as she looked at the people who looked like they were ready to fight each other.
"It's nothing for you to worry about, Miss Glen." Barb explained quickly, "The guards are just getting rid of this nuisance."
Benjamin shrugged the guards off and straightened his clothes. "Is this the way Glen Crest deals with their guests? I'm sure Edward will be interested in knowing how I was mishandled by Miss Glen's employees."
At the mention of Edward's name, Angela's face went as white as a sheet.

She cried. The guards and Barb were frozen by Angela's behaviour, and for a moment they did not know what to think or say, then Barb spoke."Miss Glen, you must be mistaken, Benjamin is no one important. Why are you apologizing to him?"Angela slowly turned around and glared at Barb, causing Barb to wilt like a plant that had not been watered in days."What did you just say?" Angela demanded."He… He is no one important, just my friend's ex. He has come to try to defraud you." Barb insisted, her voice shaky and no longer as confident as a couple of minutes ago."H

Debt
The man stood up and turned to her. He was tall, with graying hair at his temples and the kind of face that gave nothing away. His eyes were sharp and assessing, and Diana had the uncomfortable feeling that he was looking right through her."I am Edward Stone," he said, his voice measured and precise. "And I am here to discuss the removal of the Cook family from this premises."Diana's gaze swung from his face to her mother's, then to her sister's. The room felt suddenly too small, the walls closing in."What is this man talking about?" Diana asked weakly. "Why is he asking us to leave our house?"Her mother began to wail loudly, the sound piercing and desperate. Ariana's face had gone pale, and her aunt was fanning herself with a magazine as if she might faint.Edward stepped forward and handed Diana a thick folder of documents. "Before his death, Mr. Theo Cook took out multiple mortgages on this house. The payment was stopped this morning, and my client has decided to foreclose on t
The Courthouse II
It took a second for Diana to snap back to her senses, and she took a careful look at Benjamin in what looked like a custom-tailored suit and an Audemars Piguet wristwatch."I know it can't be easy for you," she said softly, "But you think it's tacky stealing someone's clothes just to impress your ex?""Why don't you mind your business?" Cameron shot back, then mimicked her mockingly. "Don't you think it's tacky to bring your ugly lover to your divorce proceedings?"Diana's face turned pale, and she opened her mouth to explain that there was nothing going on between her and Barry, but Benjamin interrupted her coldly."Mr Solicitor, where do I sign?"Benjamin finished with the signing and briskly walked away, not waiting to look at Diana. He headed towards the back of the courthouse because when the car had first approached the entrance, he realized that people were gather out front, waiting for him. The Courthouse I
On the day they were due at the courthouse, Barry had decided to drive Diane himself so she could finally finish the divorce proceedings. He masked it all as concern, but the truth was that Diana had been resisting him under the pretext that she was still a married woman and that being with him was immoral and would tarnish her image.Which was honestly a surprise to him since she and her family had no qualms spending another man's money while still a married woman. But Barry knew how to play the long game. He knew how to be patient. She might act coy, but sooner or later she would fall into his bed like many others before her.So he gladly acted like a concerned gentleman and offered to take her to the courthouse; meanwhile, he had already booked a hotel suite ahead of time. His plan was to convince her to come along for a special celebration, and then he could make his move.Everything was all planned out.As they approached the courthouse building, they both noticed that there was
Grandfather
The sound of birds chirping woke Benjamin early the next morning. For a long moment, he lay still, letting the unfamiliar comfort of the mattress sink in. No springs digging into his back. No thin blanket that barely covered his feet. The sheets smelled of lavender, and the morning light filtering through the curtains was soft and golden. He turned his head and looked around his room. Everything was exactly as he had left it. His books were still on the shelf, arranged in the same order he'd always kept them. The photograph of his mother on the nightstand, her warm, beautiful smile was still there, clear and not even gathering the slightest film of dust.'This must have been grandpa's doing.' He thought fondly. He reached out and touched the frame, then pulled his hand back. This was his room. His real room. The one he'd grown up in, the one he'd left behind when he'd gone undercover. Being back felt strange, like wearing clothes that felt like they belonged to a different person. But
