Patricia came down after keeping his suitcase in his room.
She was surprised by the ashen look on his face.“What happened?” she asked cautiously, wondering if something else had affected the group.
Since that ungrateful boy had messed things up for Daniel at the stadium, public opinion had affected the group’s shares.
Investors were already talking about dropping out, and Richard was getting less sleep.Patricia was beginning to think her future was not as certain as she had believed after all.
When Richard did not answer at first, Patricia thought he did not intend to.
He never asked her opinion about business anyway. So, she supposed it was about the group’s issues again. She was about to offer her practised encouraging words again when he finally looked at her.
“Amelia’s sister is dead. Adrian blamed me.”
Patricia’s heart thumped as she echoed, “Dahlia? That sister?”
Richard nodded.
How? When? Why was she just hearing about it?
Patricia’s tumbling questions did not show on her face as she latched onto his last statement.
“What is wrong with that boy? Why would he say such a callous thing? I already told you…”
“Stop complaining about him for now,” Richard said in a terse tone that surprised Patricia.
“I am sorry. I just meant…”
“He said something about her dying in a wreck. I think it was an accident. Be careful how you break this to Daniel. After all, she was his aunt.”
“Yes, I will…”
Richard headed upstairs stonily.
Patricia wondered if he was bothered about it. She thought that troublemaker had been dead to him all these years anyway.“Should… should I help you draw your bath?” she called after him.
“I want to be alone. I am not to be disturbed,” Richard said and left.
Patricia frowned slightly.
He really was bothered. But why?She thought of what he said again and smiled.
Here she was, thinking that nosy biddy was hiding somewhere to stir trouble. Turned out she was dead. And in a crash no less.An invisible weight rolled off Patricia’s shoulders as her smile bloomed.
She ordered the maid to bring her favourite champagne.
After all, a long-term feud coming to a natural end deserved a celebration. She lifted the champagne glass slowly.
“Don’t worry,” she murmured to the empty room. “I will raise a toast to you.”

Chapter 251
Who did she think she was?! A new kind of fury slammed into him. He didn't notice how Daniel sank to the ground as he turned to Seraphina instead. She backed away from his look and that angered him more. Now she was suddenly afraid? “What? You want my hands on you instead?” He held her shoulders and swung her around, her back hitting the car. Her jade-green eyes
Chapter 250
He dropped the bat to the side and leisurely approached Daniel. Daniel staggered backwards until he slammed into the car. That reminded him he wasn't supposed to be afraid of this bastard. Adrian should be the one cowering. Not him. But… “You have gone mad. You…” At the stadium, he thought Adrian had a chance with the men because they came at him separately and he was surrounded by the general's men. But this? He was like a monster
Chapter 249
Adrian's car soon veered off the busy road towards the lone road that led to the general's estate. Any closer and the estate security would pick up on any nearby threat. Daniel knew doing anything this close to the general's turf was a bad idea. But… “You are not getting away that easily,” he gritted in determination. “Now,” he commanded his men. The one in the passenger seat signalled those in the other car.
Chapter 248
His cold assumption stung more than she expected. The hurt sharpened her tone as she said, “That's…”“I am really in no mood for you tonight, Miss Vale. You want a favour? Send an email. Like I said, I will get to it.”Seraphina's nails bit into her palm as anger mingled with her pain.Miss Vale?Who did he think he was talking to her like that? Then she remembered he was grieving. She tamped down her anger and decided to tell him she knew about his loss.Maybe then, he might…“You need me to spell it
Chapter 247
The air conditioning was not helping.Neither had the whole hour he spent in the boxing ring.Adrian had found himself on the doorstep of the Crosses' home before he realised his intent.“You are not allowed here,” one of the guards snapped at him just as he turned to leave.Oh, he could picture it perfectly in his head.Spraying blood, broken limbs and groans that might end in eternal silence. For one terrifying moment, the image felt dangerously possible. He knew he wouldn't stop.Just as he knew coming to a place he had vowed never to return to was a mistake too.
Chapter 246
“No! Of course not. It's another reason I love you. It makes you…cool. Well, I figure it must be because of what you dealt with growing up, you know. Some people turn serial killers because of their crappy family. But you? You internalise things. You bide your time and look cool while doing it anyway. God knows I can't survive this long with your family. One of us would have killed the other.”Seraphina laughed softly. She wasn't sure if Fallon’s description was really a compliment. But she could picture the second part well.Vivian wouldn't be such a smart mouth around Fallon without receiving a facial reset. It's just that the mother and daughter would have found a way to use Fallon's blunt behaviour for her total ruin.
