The In-laws Regret

Chapter 09

Nelson looked at his father. What is he talking about now? His older brother will be going to Viants High with him? How can something like this even happen? Viants high is his safe place. It's the one place where he can be what he wants without being afraid. . . and now they are going to have Lander invade his space. . . why won't these people just leave him alone? Why do they have to keep doing something like this to him? "Dad. . . . Lander is going to Viants High? Why will you want him to go there?" Nelson asked. He wanted to ask him not to send Lander but right now that question was the only thing that he could say.  

 "What do you mean? My son can go to that school if he wants! Why don't you want him to go? Who do you think that you are to try to stop Lander from going to Viants High?" Vivian asked Nelson.  She was really happy that her husband has decided to send Lander to Viants  High. It is the most prestigious school in the entire country. Mk group owns that school. . if Lander can become close with the chairman's son. . . that will be just great!

"Dad. . . . I want to go that school! I really want to go to that school dad. Please let me go to Viants  High!" Lander said. Viants High. . . . he had heard a lot about it. And besides it was a boarding school. . . . a mixed boarding school. . . that means that he can do whatever he wants. How great will that be?

Nelson sighed. There was nothing that he could say in a situation like this. There was not one single person who is on his side in this place. He felt like he was all alone. What could he do in a situation like this? Nothing at all. . . . .

   Nelson stood in front of the restaurant. There was no way that he will ever forget this place. The dinner that he had that day with Vanessa. . . the hurtful words that she said to him. . . he just couldn't bring himself to forget them. . . . why does he keep remembering those things? She already moved on a long time ago. . . she doesn't even care anymore. . . . so why is it that he is the only who still can't bring himself to move on from Vanessa? What kind of pull does she have on him? Immediately he landed in the country the first thing that he wanted to do was see this restaurant because it was a reminder of Vanessa.  

Nelson sighed. He had come here today with an extra meaning. When he left two years he told himself that he will be able to forget everything but he wasn't able to. He still remembered how much he suffered. He still remembered what happened with him, . Vanessa, Mike and even Rachel. So he came here to finally give up everything. From this onward. . . Nelson told himself he is going to move on the way that everyone has moved on . Vanessa won't even care anyway so what is the use?

 Nelson turned to walk away from the restaurant when someone who was just walking in bumped into him. They both fell to the ground. Nelson was pissed. He was in a bad enough mood already so who is this person walking into him? He looked up and saw a girl. He pushed her off him and stood up immediately. "what is wrong with you? Do you have eyes on top your head? Why did you just walk into him?" Nelson asked her.  

  Hathi was going to get something for her mother from a restaurant when she bumped into a person. The person pushed her off and stood up. Hathi raised her eyes and saw a guy. For a second, she was awestruck. Who is this person? How can someone be so good looking? He had thick brown hair and sea blue eyes. . . . just who is he? Hathi was lost looking at this person. She didn't think that she had met anyone this good looking before.  

Nelson looked at the girl that had walked into him. It seemed like she wasn't even listening to him. . . instead she was looking at his face! What is this? "Are you even listening? If you bumped into someone you should apologise but what are you doing right now?" Nel asked her.  

Hathi shook her head forcing herself to the present. He was yelling at her but she didn't even get that part. She was still lost looking at him. . . . " I'm really sorry. . . I'm sorry. . . for walking into you. . . " She couldn't even construct a single sentence properly.  

  "You are sorry? I think that next time you should try looking at where you are going! Do you have eyes on top your head?!" Nelson yelled at her again. Then he added. "And please stop looking at me. It's really creepy. Stop it right now" 

Hathi didn't care about the first part. . . but she was embarrassed when he said that she was looking at him. . . he noticed that? "I. . . I wasn't looking at you! Why will I do that?" Hathi lied. She was looking but. . . how can he say it like that? She also had her pride! This is so embarrassing!

 "Oh you weren't looking? Seriously? I know how good looking I am. . . but can you please not make a fool of yourself like this? Do you go around looking at every good looking that you see like this? I felt like you were going to bore a hole in my face with your gaze!" Nelson said.  

Hathi's embarrassment increased. Her face was all red. "I said that I wasn't looking at you! Are you trying to harass me tight now?" Hathi said. It's always safer to play the victim in times like this

  "Harrasment? You do realize that you were the one harassing me right now right? What do you think that you are doing right now?" Nelson asked. He was going to add something but his phone rang. It was his father. Nelson sighed. He couldn't continue to stay out like this. He had to go home now. "Hey. . . don't go around looking at people's faces like that. It's really creepy" Nelson said and walked away from her.  

  Hathi stared after him. What was that? Who is that person? He just has a handsome face. . . he is a complete jerk! How can he make a fool out of her like this! "Having a handsome face isn't everything!" She yelled after him.  

He turned and winked at her. Hathi turned immediately. What was that? It was as if he was teasing her on purpose! How can she possibly make a fool of herself like this in front of a stranger?

  When Nelson got home, he met his mother in the living room. He ran to hug her immediately. She was the only person that he missed in this entire place. Even though she was not his birth mother, she treated him better than his birth mother ever did. "Mom. . . I missed you so much! You got even prettier. . . . how can you look so pretty? You can pass off as my older sister" Nelson said and he and Rita laughed.  

  "You are still so good at flattering me Nelson. When are you going to stop being this way?" Rita asked him. Ever since she met Nelson for the first time when he was four, she felt like she had gotten everything that she ever wanted. He was a blessing to her.  

 "Mom you know that I only use this tone with you right?" Nelson asked his mother. He was right. . . he only acted this way towards his mother.  

"Cut that out. . . . where were you? The bodyguards your dad sent to pick you up said that you got away. . . what happened? Why did you run away?" Rita asked. Nelson.

 "What do you mean by I ran away? I didn't run away. . . I just had somewhere else that I had to be first. And why will he even send bodyguards to pick me up? Does he think that I am still a kid?" Nelson asked.  

  "You are still a kid to me! You are only eighteen years old. You are still my little kid. Anyway your dad is really mad!" Rita said. She was afraid that Nelson and his father were going to get into an argument as soon as he gets back.  

  "Where is he? Is he in?" Nelson asked Rita. He knew that his father won't let him off easy. He did run away from the guards after all.  

  "I am in! So what if I am in! Where were you? I sent people to pick you up and you ran away?!" Ryan, Nelson's  father asked.  

"Dad. . . you haven't seen your son in two years! You are yelling at me immediately you see me?" Nelson asked his father.  

 "You haven't seen your mother and I in two years! You came back after two years and the best thing that you can do is to run off to God knows where? Do you even care about us? Where the hell did you go?" Ryan asked Nelson. He was really angry. What is really wrong with Sk? He thought that after spending two years abroad he would have matured by now. . . but he is still the same! Playing such stupid tricks!

  Nelson knew that he couldn't tell his father where he went too. If he told him that he went to the restaurant that he and Vanessa had their last meal. . . it is only going to make his father really angry. It wasn't just about his father. . . if his mother knows about it. . . she would be really hurt. He just had to keep it to himself. "I had somewhere to be alright! And why will you even send guards to pick me up? Do you think that I am a kid?" Nelson asked his father.  

  "If you are no longer a kid and you think that you are an adult now you should act like one. . why do you keep doing things like this?" Ryan asked. When is this person going to grow up?

  "The both of you please just stop it! You haven't seen each each other in two years and the first thing that you do is tell at each other and argue? Seriously. . . do the both of you have to be this way to each other every time?" Rita asked. She really didn't like to see the both of them arguing like this 

   Ryan struggled to control his temper. Rita is right. They can't start arguing the first time that they see each other in two years. And besides, he had something really important that he had to say to Nelson. "Fine. . . . I'm going to let this go just this one time. I have something to tell you. I asked you to come back for a reason. You are going to go back to Viants High when school reopens again" Ryan said.  

 Nelson had a hard time processing what he had just heard. Go back to Viants High? For what? Why does he need to go back to that school? He didn't want to do it. "Dad. . . what is this supposed to mean? Why do I have to go back to Viants High? Did you ask me to come back because of this? I'm not going to go! I'm not going to go to Viants High no matter what you say. . . so just give it up now!" Nelson said. What is the meaning of this? Why does he have to go back to that place?

 "You really don't have a choice Nelson. I already made up my mind you are going to go to Viant High when school reopens again. And besides, our company owns that school! You are going to become the owner one day. What do you think people will say if you are back in the country and you won't go back to Viants  High?" Ryan asked Nelson.  

"If you are really worried about what other people will say about that. . I'm just going to go back! If I'm not here people won't worry about me going to some other school instead of Viants  High right? I'm going to go to back. . . don't try to stop me!" Nel said.
