The inventory manager and Angela instinctively stared at Eric with their mouths agape. Of all the punishments he could have chosen, they never expected Eric to go for something so extreme.

As if sensing protest in their eyes, Eric stepped out of the car. “I do not like wasting words. This place deserves employees far better than you two. The owner worked hard to build this business, and it could be ruined easily by incompetent staff.”

Rebecca did not hesitate to agree to fire both the manager and the sharp-tongued saleswoman. She would not delay. Their termination letters would be issued and signed today.

Even though the manager and Angela had heard with their own ears that their boss had offered Eric the chance to decide their punishment, hearing Rebecca actually approve the decision still sent a shock through them.

He had been in an important meeting, but the moment he received the grim news from his wife, he abandoned everything to rush over. Anxiety was written all over his face.“I don’t know,” Dr. Marry replied quietly, shaking her head. She couldn’t bring herself to explain her daughter’s condition to her husband. The woman who had held back her sobs until now finally broke.Dr. Marry collapsed into David’s arms, burying her face against his chest. "Stop! Don’t force me to pull over. I won’t stop because if I do, I’ll end up in prison," Edward barked, his voice nearly breaking in frustration at his situation.Violet, who had no idea what her fiancé had been hiding, widened her eyes at his words. She stared at Edward, swallowed hard, and hissed, "Why would you go to prison? What exactly have you done?"Edward struggled to answer. From the very start, he had no intention of telling Violet about the hit-and-run he committed. What he just blurted out came only from being cornered. He knew Violet had strong empathy and compassion. Even if it was a stranger, someone with no clear background, even from the lowest class, Violet never discriminated. Edward was certain that if Violet found out what he’d done, she’d be furious. Not wanting to sit in silence, Violet pressed again, "Edward, tell me what really happened. What crime did you commit that could land you in prison?"Edward, crushed by Violet’s questions and the wailing police sire

Violet forced herself not to nod. Every fiber of her wanted to say yes to Eric’s offer loud and clear. But Violet could never admit it honestly. She knew Edward would cause an even bigger scene if she refused to go home with him.So, after exhaling heavily, Violet said, "Eric, I’ll go home with Edward. I hope we can meet again under better circumstances."Eric could see the discomfort written across Violet’s face. He asked to confirm, "Are you sure?"Violet nodded, while Edward barked in a loud tone, "Of course! Man, she’s going home with me, I’m her FIANCÉ! What bad thing could I ever do to my woman? I can take care of Violet better than anyone else."Violet left with Edward, who still looked annoyed. The young man drove with a sour face and furrowed brows."Bastard!" Edward cursed, slamming his hand against the steering wheel. He would never forget the humiliation Eric had given him.Nothing was more degrading than being humiliated by someone beneath him.But the truth was Eric was

The guard returned to his post near the main entrance after handing over the car keys. The scene left Edward silent for a moment, while Violet smiled. Not wanting to look like a fool, Edward quickly chuckled and said, "It seems I underestimated you. Who would’ve thought, an ice cream seller like you actually owns a car. No matter how long it took you to get it, you deserve some praise."Though Edward’s words sounded positive, Eric knew very well the man was just mocking him again.Edward turned to Violet. "Sweetheart, what kind of car do you think this poor guy owns? Wait, it must be some old junk he picked up from the scrapyard, right? Or from a junk dealer? Oh, I get it now. That means you didn’t have to save up for it at all. Your car was free. FREE! Haha!"Edward’s words were too obvious to be misunderstood. His mockery was direct, aimed squarely at Eric’s pride.Violet grew more uncomfortable. She looked at Eric with her mouth slightly open but said nothing. She was out of words,

Eric curled one corner of his lips as he watched Edward acting like a fool near his Bugatti Centodieci. He walked behind Violet, approaching Edward, who was now not only posing for photos but also recording a video."Edward..." Violet called, making Edward turn his head.Edward’s smile spread wide the moment he saw his fiancée. With excitement, he grabbed Violet’s hand, eager to show her the luxury sports car he had always dreamed of. More than that, if he could take pictures with Violet in front of the limited-edition car, everyone would be envious. Men would label him the luckiest man alive, possessing both wealth and an incredibly beautiful woman. But a frown formed on Edward’s forehead the instant his eyes landed on Eric. Immediately, his attention shifted, and his smile morphed into loud, mocking laughter. That arrogance became even clearer when Edward stepped in front of Eric and sneered, "Hey, ice cream seller, so you’re here too. Tell me, are you selling here now? Where’s your

"Hi! You... here?" Violet asked with a mix of surprise and delight.Eric smiled, brushing his hair back. "Yes, we meet again."Seeing the interaction, Doctor Marry rushed forward. "You two already know each other?" she asked eagerly.Violet stepped inside to hug her mother. Pointing at Eric, she replied, "This is the ice cream seller I told you about, Mom."Doctor Marry’s jaw dropped. Her daughter’s words sounded absurd compared to the truth she knew—that Eric was a wealthy young man with a noble heart. She had seen his luxury car with her own eyes, and the way he effortlessly paid all of Natalie’s hospital bills left no doubt about his financial ability. But according to Violet’s story about the ice cream seller, Doctor Marry had once pitied him, thinking the accident had wrecked both his minivan and her future son-in-law’s car. She had even praised Violet’s kindness for taking responsibility so as not to trouble the ice cream seller. Back then, she had said how lucky it was that Vio
