Elise rushed toward Room 119, with Chelsea, the woman in the yellow dress, close behind her.

"Calm down, miss. The ambulance is on the way. Grace is coming too, and she’s bringing a doctor,” Chelsea tried to reassure her.

Earlier, Elise had hurried down to the lobby, knowing there were no other hotel guests on the second floor. She was hoping to find help, but just as she approached the elevator, she ran into Chelsea Lee and Grace Porter (the woman in the silver gown).

Chelsea and Grace had gone downstairs earlier to dispose of the remaining mess from Room 120. Now they were returning to stand guard outside Room 119, while the other two team members dealt with Jim Harris.

They immediately noticed the panic in Elise’s eyes. They already knew Elise was Eric’s younger sister, thanks to a photo they'd seen before carrying out their revenge plan against Jim. Instinctively, they asked what was wrong.

The news shocked them: their boss was in critical condition.

Neither of them had expected that someone as young as Eric could be suffering from something as deadly as a brain tumor.

Without wasting time, they sprang into action. Chelsea phoned the nearest hospital to request an ambulance, while Grace ran off to find Dr. Bob. According to Elise, the doctor wasn’t far from Rosemont Castle Hotel.

Dr. Bob, 48 years old, was the physician who had been treating Eric at National GoodHealth Hospital. Coincidentally, he was playing ping pong with a friend at a sports center barely a kilometer away from the hotel.

“I hope Eric hangs on,” Elise murmured, wiping away the tears that just wouldn’t stop.

When they stepped into Room 119, Elise’s eyes widened in shock. Her heartbeat quickened until her chest physically trembled. For a moment, she couldn’t breathe, Eric wasn’t on the bed.

“I swear, he was lying right there when I left him,” Elise said, pointing to the white bed, still covered with presents. “He passed out!”

Chelsea gently asked, “Miss, are you sure Mr. Eric was alone in this room? Or… was there anything suspicious, like someone sneaking in to take him away?”

“I… I don’t know,” Elise muttered.

She slumped down on the bed, completely overwhelmed. Was there an intruder? Had her brother been kidnapped? All she knew was that if anything happened to Eric, she’d never forgive herself.

She was certain his condition had been critical, possibly even beyond saving if help didn’t arrive in time. But now, Eric wasn’t even here.

Amid the confusion, a distant siren began to wail. It grew louder with each second. There was no mistaking it, that was the ambulance Chelsea had called.

But the person they were supposed to rescue had vanished.

“Elise! Where were you?”

Elise turned toward the voice.

“Miss, it’s Mr. Eric!” Grace shouted, her face brightening with relief.

“And Grace? You’re here? Where’s Chelsea?”

Just as Eric asked, Chelsea’s voice rang out from the hall. “Right here, Doctor! Mr. Eric’s here!”

Like Elise and Grace, she was frantic.

“Yes, yes,” Dr. Bob followed closely behind, his expression painted with worry.

But the moment they stepped inside and saw Eric standing calmly on the balcony doorway, as if he had never passed out, it was as if time froze. The small plate in his hand only added to the absurdity. Elise stared in disbelief, her heart skipping a beat.

Everyone inside Room 119 stood silent, frozen in place. Eyes darted from one face to another.

“Is this some kind of joke?” Dr. Bob’s frown deepened, his concern quickly shifting into irritation.

Eric let out a small cough. He didn’t need to guess, Elise must have begged Chelsea and Grace to bring Dr. Bob in a desperate attempt to save him while he was unconscious. He understood their confusion, but the truth was far too unbelievable to share.

The System had just given him a Luck Fragment Bonus—and that reward was a total cure for his illness.

“Uhm…” Eric swallowed hard, searching for a way to smooth things over. “Dr. Bob, I… I didn’t think this would get so serious. I was just trying to prank Elise earlier, that’s all,” he mumbled, scratching his head in faux embarrassment.

Dr. Bob’s jaw clenched. He glared at Eric. “You bastard! Do you have any idea your sister was on the verge of a mental breakdown over this?! Absolutely outrageous!” he snapped.

Eric responded with an awkward smile, understanding every word. He turned to Elise. Her face was swollen, her nose red like a tomato, and tears still poured from her eyes. Yet, through all that, she smiled.

“Thank you. Thank you for surviving. I’m just… so happy you’re alive.” Elise ran to him and buried her face in her brother’s chest.

Realizing today was Elise’s birthday—and seeing her cry so hard—Dr. Bob put his anger on hold.

Then came an even more awkward moment as two paramedics stepped into the room. Seeing Elise crying in her brother’s arms while everyone else stood awkwardly around them, they exchanged confused glances.

One of them asked, cautiously, “We responded quickly. Sorry, but… has the patient already passed?”

Elise cleared her throat. “Um… everyone, please, take a seat. I’ll explain everything.”

She fully understood their reactions. Honestly, she had been just as shocked and frozen moments ago. But now, the weight on her chest had lifted.

Eric coughed slightly and mumbled, “Okay, look. Since you all went through the trouble of coming here, how about we have a little feast? I’ll treat everyone. And of course, I’ll pay for any losses caused.”

“You little punk!” Dr. Bob gave him a playful punch on the arm. “You all have my permission to hit him too! Teach him a lesson!”

Everyone burst into laughter. The tension finally lifted. Relief flooded the room, Eric was okay.

“Even if you feel fine now, you still need a proper check-up. And another thing, my compensation better be huge! Dammit, I even offered a heartfelt prayer for your recovery!” Dr. Bob grumbled like a father scolding his son. It was obvious they shared a close bond.

And so, the chaotic night ended with shared laughter and a birthday meal.

The very next morning, Elise insisted on taking Eric for an MRI and a full check-up. During dinner last night, Eric had assured her that he was completely cured. But Elise wanted to confirm it for herself, especially since she was flying abroad for college that very evening.

Leaving Eric behind in good health, free from the threat of brain cancer, would be the best farewell gift she could receive.

Later that afternoon, Dr. Bob examined the MRI results. His brows furrowed, his head shaking in disbelief. He exhaled heavily, clearly baffled.

Some even joked around, asking Eric to share a bit of his charm so they could attract female attention too.“Look at that, Miss Turner. Your boyfriend, and all those beautiful girls, are only focused on you. Come on, man, are we invisible to them? Is that why they’re only calling your name?” the club president teased. When Chloe opened her eyes, the wall clock was already pointing at nine. As she stretched lazily, her gaze landed on a tray placed on the bedside table—milk, avocado, toast, eggs, grilled meat, and a banana neatly arranged. Feeling hungry, she eagerly pulled the tray closer.“Isn’t Eric the perfect future husband? He lulled me to sleep last night, and now he’s prepared such a lavish breakfast this morning. I really, really like him!”Chloe devoured the food without restraint. Just as she was about to drink the milk, her brows knitted together when she noticed a piece of paper tucked beneath the glass.“This must be a love note from Eric,” she said with a chuckle as she unfolded the paper.“I’m going to campus. I won’t be home until evening. My men will come to guard and keep you company.”After reading Eric’s message, Chloe pouted. Her irritation instantly killed her appetite. She pushed the tray back onto the table, then lay down again, too lazy to do anything.“I’m staying here for

Eric let out a long breath as he looked at Chloe lying in the guest room of his house. He rubbed his face several times, his mind weighed down by a single concern. He would tell Violet about this later—to prevent any misunderstanding. He had just finished clearing up the last one, and he had no intention of letting history repeat itself.“Get some sleep. I’ll stay here and keep watch,” Eric said when Chloe turned to look at him sitting on the single sofa. The reason Eric agreed to let Chloe stay over was because she reminded him of Elise—who had once been in a situation just as bad. Chloe had no siblings or relatives in the city, and her parents were unavailable right now.Meanwhile, despite Eric telling her to sleep, Chloe clearly couldn’t close her eyes. She had tried, but it felt like a huge rock was pressing down on her chest, forcing her eyes open again.“Are you worried about Violet?” Chloe asked as she sat up on the bed.Eric exhaled sharply. “I told you to sleep.
