“That meant you guys were planning to go to that island?” Luna said, looking at the boys.
They were talking in the living room. Luna was seated on a sofa in front of the boys. She was around their age, with ash-colored hair and light blue eyes—a pretty girl. They already told her everything.
“Yep,” Jack nodded.
“Did you know you could die from this?”
“I told them,” Tulip replied on the boys’ behalf. “But they didn’t listen. By the way, I didn’t see Auntie around.” She looked around. “Was she not home?”
“Nope, she wasn’t.”
“Where did she go?”
“New York. She’ll be back in a week.”
“Oh! Anyway, did you have the exorcism water with you?”
“Yes, I kept some from my dad. You guys sit tight; I’ll go get it.” Saying this, Luna left.
She came back shortly, holding a glass jar with a kind of liquid inside—sacred exorcism water. “Let’s go,” Luna said.
“Go Where?” Tulip asked in surprise. “Where were you planning to go?”
“Why?” Luna looked equally surprised. “I’m going with you guys.”
“To that island?”
“Yes.”
“You didn’t need to go.”
“I’m going,” Luna insisted. “And if you didn’t take me, I wouldn’t give you the exorcism water.”
Reluctantly, they agreed, and Luna joined them.
As usual, Jack drove. Within half an hour, they reached Tulip’s house.
Tulip unlocked the door, and they all went inside. She led them into a hidden room filled with strange, strange weapons.
“This is called the Annihilin Gun,” Tulip said, showing them a weapon with a long, thick barrel. “A single shot from this, and any vampire would die. Except for the Vampire King. To kill him, you’d need to sprinkle exorcism water on him. There’s no other way to kill the Vampire King.”
“But who was going to kill this Vampire King?” Max asked. “I mean, who would sprinkle the exorcism water on him?”
“I will,” Paul said firmly. “I’ll kill the Vampire King.”
“Whoever gets the chance will kill him,” Jack said. “If we didn’t get the chance, we were done for.”
“Yeah! You’re right,” everyone agreed.
Tulip introduced them to different types of weapons, explaining what each one would be used for. Then they went to the laboratory. The boys looked around curiously. Cabinets filled with glass jars had lined the room, each one containing various chemicals.Tulip brings out a hand-drawn map from a drawer in one of the cabinets—a map of Vampire Island. She explained that her father drew it.
“During the day, the vampires hid in this part of the island,” Tulip said, pointing to a spot on the map. “They didn’t come out in daylight. But there were still plenty of dangers lurking on that island, so we had to be cautious at every step.”
“Were we going to attack them right at their hideout?” Max asked.
Tulip nodded, putting the map back in the drawer. Turning to Max, he said, “They never came out in daylight, so we had to attack them at their hideout.”
“Won’t they be really powerful in their own lair?”
“Of course,” Tulip nodded again. “Naturally, they were strongest in their hideout. But we had to take the risk. They never left their lair except under the cover of darkness.”
“Were we going by boat?” Jack asked.
“Yes, by boat,” Tulip replied. “And, we had to leave very early in the morning. We needed to bring a lot of weapons, too. If anyone saw us, it could be trouble.”
“Exactly how early?”
“Let’s say, around five in the morning.”
“Oh, got it.”
They continued discussing their plan for a while longer. At one point, Jack filled his locket with a bit of water from the exorcism jar—just in case it might come in handy later. They also called the hotel manager to inform him that Jack and Max wouldn’t be returning to the hotel.
The two sisters went to the kitchen to prepare dinner, while the boys chatted on the balcony.
Listening to Paul’s story made them sad. The boy was through a lot. His father had died at the hands of vampires, and his mother had passed away a long time ago. He had no one close to him and lived alone.
“Come with us,” Jack suggested.
Paul smiled and shook his head. “This is my homeland. I’m not going anywhere.”
Jack didn’t say anything further. Just then, they heard Tulip calling. “Dinner’s ready,” she announced. “Come to the dining room.”
They had dinner together, and afterward, each of them went to their room to sleep.
That night, Jack had a terrifying dream. He saw a vampire biting into his neck, drinking his blood.
He woke up. Finishing all the water in the glass on the table beside him, he went back to sleep.
Toward the end of the night, everyone woke up. Jack shared the dream he had seen with his friends. Everyone was surprised to hear it. They’d had the same dream too. They brushed it off as a mere coincidence.Once refreshed, they all headed to the armory, each picking out weapons as they pleased. Jack chose an Annihilin gun, a sub-gun, two Vibos, and several special Vibo grenades.
Max picked an Annihilin gun, an Ultra-2, and six special Vibo grenades. Paul selected an Annihilin gun, eight special Vibo grenades, and two Ultra-4s. Tulip and Luna each took an Annihilin gun, six special Vibo grenades, and three Ultra-92s.
The boat was ready ahead of time. It belonged to Tulip. With everything packed, they boarded the boat. As soon as the engine started, the boat cut through the waves and sped toward Vampires Island.
They all looked back one last time at Demons Island. If they survived, maybe they’d see it again someday.

The story of " On a Lonely Island""Through sleep, a person's brain can be controlled, allowing them to be manipulated in any way." Mr. David said. He was their new psychology teacher. Well, "new" in the sense that he had been brought in for just two weeks. Their regular teacher, Mr. Neely, had gone to New York for advanced training, which would take two weeks to complete. During that time, Mr. David would be filling in for him."A victim can be psychologically tortured in their sleep," Mr. David continued in his deep, resonant voice. "To them, it would feel completely real."The entire class stared at him, mouths slightly open as they listened to his lecture. Whether they were actually paying attention was unclear. Maybe they were just pretending—like they usually did in Mr. Thomas’s class. But from the way Archie was listening, he seemed completely engrossed. Then again, a troublemaker like him would obviously enjoy this kind of eerie topic. On the other hand, Max wasn’t enjoying th
Chapter 107: Sunset of a Struggle
“Can anyone eat the same food all the time?” Luke said, wrinkling his nose.“Do you think burgers, sandwiches, and pizzas grow on trees in this jungle, and you can just grab them whenever you want?” Jack replied sarcastically.“Did I say that?”“Then what?”“I mean, eating venison all the time isn’t exactly enjoyable. It would be nice to have something different.”“Oh! That’s what you meant.”“Yes, that’s what I meant.”“Then why are you just sitting there?” Jack pointed at a rotten tree with his hand. “Look inside that tree; you might find some caterpillars. Go ahead, dig them out and eat up.”Lily was chewing on a piece of meat. The moment Jack mentioned caterpillars, she gagged and spat it out. “Do you have to say things like that while we’re eating?” she snapped.“Alright, alright.” Jack raised his hands in surrender. “I was just joking.”“Keep your jokes to yourself,” Lily huffed, still irritated. “I caught a fish from the river,” she added, changing the subject. “I forgot about
Chapter 106: The Missing Companion
"Luke, aren't your pants made of denim?" Jack suddenly asked."Ugh!" Luke swatted a mosquito away. Then he said, "Yeah, it's denim. Why, what's up?""Can your phone's battery be removed?""Yeah, it can.""That'll do.""What'll do?""Charging," Jack said mysteriously."Charging what?" Luke asked, confused."Ugh, just do something quickly!" Lily said impatiently, smacking her own cheek — actually swatting a mosquito. "These bloodsuckers are going to drain us dry."Ignoring Lily, Jack told Luke to take out his phone's battery. Luke fumbled in the dark and managed to remove it. "Now what?" he asked."Rub the battery's charging slot against your jeans," Jack instructed. Finally, Luke understood. As an engineering student, he felt embarrassed that such a simple idea hadn't crossed his mind. Without another word, he firmly rubbed the battery's charging slot against his pants. Though they couldn’t see in the dark, the rough scratching sound made it clear he was doing it.Jack said, "Once you'

They had been walking for quite a while. Everyone was exhausted. Suddenly, Orin dropped onto a pine log, declaring that he couldn’t go any further. The others were just as worn out, so they all decided to rest right there. They had lunch with the water and the deer meat they had with them. After a short break, they set off again."How much longer do we have to keep walking?" Lily asked impatiently."Until we find the Yaku River," Jack replied indifferently."In other words, until we get rescued," Luke added."Yeah, exactly," Jack agreed."Do you think we’ll actually get rescued?" Orin asked, his voice filled with doubt."Hmm." Jack sighed. "Only time will tell.""And when exactly will that time come?" Lily stared at the fire. It burned brightly, its orange glow lighting up everything around it. Nocturnal animals filled the jungle with their calls, the constant noise almost deafening to Lily. She had been awake for quite a while now. Around midnight, she was supposed to wake Jack. She pulled her phone out of her pocket to check the time, but it was dead. No charge. Finally, she glanced at her wristwatch. In the dim light, she saw that it was already twelve. Just as she was about to wake Jack, she noticed him sitting on the hammock. That meant he had woken up on his own."When did you wake up?" Lily asked."Just a little while ago," Jack replied."Well, good thing you did. I was about to wake you.""Alright then, you get some sleep. I’ll keep watch."Lily wished him goodnight and lay down. Jack sat quietly on the hammock. After a while, he noticed the firewood was running low. The flames were almost out.
