They stared at Cassie, their mouths agape. It was as if they hadn’t understood a single word she said. Cassie chuckled at their expressions, her laughter radiant, like pearls spilling free.

“Don’t just sit there with your mouths open. A fly might fly in,” she quipped, then laughed at her own joke. “Not that there’s any worry of that here.”

Her words snapped them out of their daze, and they quickly composed themselves.

“Are you going to turn us into vampires?” Max mumbled, almost under his breath, but Cassie heard him.

“Yes, of course,” she replied. “You’re all very clever. Turning you into vampires will be very helpful to me.”

“Alright, will you answer a few of our questions?” Max asked, steady and unshaken.

“Absolutely!” Cassie replied with a warm smile. “Ask away. Whatever questions you have, I’ll answer them all.” She sounded so genuine, almost like a close friend.

Jo’s heart nearly jumped out of his chest. A small dog had been tied under the seat, and it lunged at his face. It was an Alabama breed, known for its fierce and aggressive nature. But this one? Without wasting another second, he bolted, fear propelling his legs forward. While checking tickets, Jo got into a heated exchange with a middle-aged woman. He had asked for her ticket, and she rummaged through her bag and pockets but came up empty-handed. Finally, she sighed and admitted, “I must have lost it.”“Then you’ll have to pay a fine,” Jo said, firm but calm. The mere mention of a fine sent the woman into a rage. She insisted she was a regular on this route and argued that fining her was completely unreasonable. But Jo didn’t budge. “Either show the ticket or pay the fine,” he repeated.Frustrated, the woman snapped, “How muc

Finally, she glanced at her wristwatch. In the dim light, she saw that it was already twelve. Just as she was about to wake Jack, she noticed him sitting on the hammock. That meant he had woken up on his own."When did you wake up?" Lily asked."Just a little while ago," Jack replied."Well, good thing you did. I was about to wake you.""Alright then, you get some sleep.
