Eventually, Jake collapsed down to his knees before the mirror, with tears in his eyes and many of his hairs in his hands, many more at his feet.
Just because of losing his hair, he looked a few years older and lost his cool looks by many degrees.
It was so disheartening it would be impossible to measure it with any units of measurement.
Elmond came over and chortled. “Why are you crying? You can still wear a wig.”
Jake gritted his teeth. “You knew I’d lose my hair, and yet you didn’t tell me. Why?”
“Don’t cry over spilled milk, my love,” Delma got off the bed with some effort. “You were born with such handsome looks. The world you’ve seen so far must have been pretty simple, but you’ll start viewing the world with a different perspective from now on.
“The women who loved your looks before will now treat you like a joke because you lost your hair. However, there are always exceptions to every case. And I’m one of those exceptions. Whether you have hair on your head or not, it doesn’t matter to me. My love for you isn’t just skin-deep. I hope you will realize that.”
She offered her hand, so that she could help him get back to his feet.
Jake was still on his knees, and he didn’t want to hold her hand.
“Use your system to ‘shed’ my granddaughter’s weight, Jake,” Elmond said in more of a commanding tone, “and prove yourself worthy.”
Jake still didn’t hold Delma’s hand.
He got up to his feet on his own and touched his head, which looked completely bald now. “Is there a way for me to get my hair back?”
“Not that I know of,” Delma responded. “But there are some legends that the owner of the shedding system can regrow their lost hair if they manage to completely master the shedding system. But something like taming can take months to years.”
Jake’s jaw hardened. “So I have to stay bald for years? That’s bullshit.”
“You can use wigs,” Elmond reminded him.
Jake felt a knot in his stomach.
He had beautiful hair until a minute ago, but now, he had to rely on wigs? That would be even more embarrassing than staying bald!
“What the hell am I supposed to do?” Jake felt like crying some more. If he was alone, he would have cried even harder. “How am I going to live with this? Looking like a thief who robs chocolates from children?”
Elmond still smiled and said, “Ask your system to shed my granddaughter’s weight.” He wanted to confirm if Jake was capable of controlling the shedding system or not.
Jake was startled. “What? Her weight? Something like that is possible?”
“Yeah, that’s what the shedding system is capable of,” Elmond replied. “It can help you achieve a lot more than that, too.”
Jake, however, squinted his eyes. “I won’t fall for the same trick twice! If I make her lose weight with this power, there will be a side effect on me, won’t it?”
Elmond forced out a laugh. “You already lost all your hair, so what are you afraid of?”
“Fuck you!” Jake growled.
“What?” Elmond raised his voice. “Keep your mouth in check, young man. Don’t take things for granted just because I’m being friendly with you.”
“Tsk,” Jake looked visibly annoyed. “You were never friendly with me.”
“Forget the past. Now, help my granddaughter,” Elmond insisted. “If you do what I say, I’ll give you a blank check.”
“B-Blank check, you say…” Jake’s heart started to race. (These rich bastards are really playing with my heart. Do they think money can achieve everything? It won’t bring back my lost hair, can it? No, it won’t!)
Jake then thought in his mind. “Can you hear me?”
[Loud and clear.]
He received a response in a similar fashion.
“Great,” Jake smiled. “What should I do to get my hair back?”
[Find something you really like for which you can give your very life, or cut away every useless thing from your life ruthlessly! If you do either of those things, then I will acknowledge you as my master and give you your hair back and much more!]
“Finding someone I like, or removing useless things from my life?” Jake was looking at Elmond and Delma.
He considered both of them as useless things right now.
He showered a smile at Elmond. “Please come here. I have something to verify.”
“Verify?” Elmond doubtfully stepped toward Jake who held his hand.
Suddenly, Elmond began to lose all the remaining hairs on his head.
“G-Grandpa, your hair is…” Delma’s eyes turned round like the moon.
Elmond yanked his hand and pushed Jake back. “You bastard, how could you do this to me!”
“Hmph, now you know a little of my pain!” Jake retorted and then walked toward Delma. “Let me hold your hand, darling.”
“N-No,” Delma was taken aback, not wanting to lose her hair. “NO!”
“I will make you slim like a deer.”
“NOOOO!” Delma cried out so loudly the mirror and glass windows and furniture in the room shattered to pieces.
Elmond had to shut his ears, and Jake was so terrified by her scream, he ran out of the room.
“Keep your power in check!” Elmond yelled at her. “Are you trying to destroy this building?”
Delma stopped and huffed a little. “I-I’m sorry. I lost my cool at the thought of losing all my hair.” As she said those words, her mouth turned down. She was already considered ugly by Jake, so if she were to lose her hair, what worse things would she be hearing from him?
“He must be in shock from losing his hair, Grandpa,” Delma said. “Go and help him, please.”
Elmond sighed deeply and rubbed his bald head. “Since I lost my hair already, I’m the only one who can handle that impertinent brat. I will make sure to give him hell for doing this to me!” Saying that, he left the room.
Delma then picked up all of Jake’s hair that was lying on the floor and stored it in a box and kept it in the locker.

It didn’t take long for Elmond to realize who the culprit was. There were some cameras that were dismantled, which was something the shedding system was capable of doing. But what sealed the deal was the three dogs which lost all their hair.On top of that, Jake was missing. This led Elmond to come to the conclusion that Jake wasn’t kidnapped, but Jake was the one who actually ran away last night.“If you had let me chip him when we caught him,” Elmond was coldly talking with Delma, “then we would have known where he is right now.”“He’s not a dog, Grandpa.”“But he left you, didn’t he?”Delma visibly frowned. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think he’d run away again. He must really hate me,” she looked depressed and hurt.Elmond’s heart ached. “He has the shedding system now. It won’t be easy to capture him, but don’t worry. My legs are hurting, so massage them,” Jake told her.“Huh?” She looked a bit bewildered. “You want me to do what?”“You heard me.”Anne frowned. “I never massaged anybody.”“Then you can start from today,” Jake said. She reluctantly touched his legs and began to press the shin bone.“You think I’m made of cotton?” Jake snorted. “Put more strength into your hands.”“Ugh,” she pressed his legs with more strength. “Is this enough?”“Ahh…” Jake made a pleased noise, which startled her. “That’s more like it. You are doing a better job than I thought. Keep going.”For the next five minutes or so, Anne pressed his legs.“You can stop now,” Jake said coldly. She was happy to stop. She went to the washroom and then washed her hands. As she came out of the washroom, Jake

Can I see him?”“You will see him when the time is right,” Delma replied, keeping eye-contact with him without blinking.Melvyn forced out a smile. He looked at the treadmill. “I told you plenty of times to fast and slim down, but you never listened. Now, you’re trying to get thin. What changed? Is the new guy making you do this?”“You’re handsome, Melvyn. You’re a one in a million. There’s no doubt about that,” Delma openly said as she always had. “But you’re my cousin. We grew up together. It was a long strand of hair, which startled the waiter.“I’m so sorry, sir,” the waiter quickly apologized.“Bring me another burger,” Jake said, picking up the burger on the table and throwing it perfectly into the distant dustbin.“O-Okay,” the waiter hurriedly left.“You still want to eat here after seeing that hair?” Anne hissed. “Let’s just leave.”“C’mon. Have you never seen hair in home made food?” Jake replied casually. “It happens every now and then, so it’s no big deal.” He pushed the sandwich toward her.“Ugh,” Instead of eating, she kept scrutinizing it, looking to see if there were any hairs, which made Jake chuckle.Soon, the waiter brought another burger.Jake glanced at it and gave a thumbs up after noticing the extra cheese. “Mm, the extra cheese always helps.”“Thank you,” the waiter was happy that his efforts

She moved Trisha’s head a couple of times, but there was no response.“She’s gone,” Melvyn said.Delma glared up at him. “You monster… how could you…”“She’s one of my weaknesses, which is why I had to kill her,” Melvyn said, and the rocks and the rubble around him began to tremble. “And now, her powers have been transferred to me.”The two halves of the island came together, and the entire island began to rise up into the sky. At a remote island a few hundred miles away from Salem city.Delma arrived in a helicopter, driving it herself. She jumped out through the front glass and came dashing through the sky like a hawk descending from heaven. As the helicopter crashed and exploded in the background, Delma landed on the rocky ground where Trisha was sitting on a boulder and polishing her nails.Behind her, both Davis and Tessa were tied up together in metal chains. Both of them were badly wounded, and they weren’t conscious, either.“How could you do that to your own sister?” Delma’s jaw hardened.“What are you saying? She pointed her finger at her own sister for the sake of a toad,” Trisha indifferently said. “If I don’t discipline her well now, she will only get worse in time, don’t you think?”Delma didn’t say anything.Trisha clapped twice. Two of her bodyguards rushed over.“Take those two and go to the Blake mansion,” she told them, and they obliged. As the guards took Davis and Tessa away, Delma didn’

I never said I’d introduce you to my brother,” Tessa snorted. “Firstly, you should get a proper haircut. Then, you should look competitive.Do something that makes you stand out.”“Like what?”“I don’t know. Appear on the Forbes front page or something?”“W-What?” Davis’ jaw dropped.“If you can’t even do that much, you think you’re qualified to become a son-in-law of the Blake family?” Tessa snorted even loudly this time. “All our son-in-laws are from prestigious, billionaire families. I don’t want my husband to look cheap and dull before them. So, figure it out yourself.”“H-How can I appear on Forbes?” Davis looked utterly baffled. “I didn’t even appear on my school’s notice board before.”Tessa spared him a cold gla

Tessa took the kite that Davis had made for her, but she ended up losing in the kite competition with Delma. So, she scolded Davis, saying, “I lost because of your kite!”However, Elmond intervened and said, “You lost because your skill was lacking compared to Delma’s. I made the kite for Delma, so I know that the difference was less in the kites and more in the ones flying those kites.”“Grandpa, you are kidding, right?” Tessa snorted.“Yes, sir. The fault was with me,” Davis supported her.Elmond sighed and shook his head. “Women these days go for the swan walk and end up losing the crow-walk they’re born with. Men also lose their masculinity by sucking up to women. It is so shameful to watch.” Saying that he walked away.“Don’t mind his words,” Delma told them. “He’s just a bit frustrated because he lost in a fight with Jake last evening.”“Fight? What fight?” Davis quickly asked.“They were trying to see who can eat more sweet buns,” Delma replied, “and my grandfather lost.”“Oh…”

Tessa arrived at the Hamilton mansion that morning.Instead of stopping the car in the front yard, she went round the mansion so that she could enter through the back door. However, she saw Jake practicing under the tree, and she could hear his fists moving through the air.“Whoa…” she kept watching him and forgot about time. “It’s like I’m watching my brother fist-fight the fire when he is young.”But soon, she noticed that he was making the falling leaves fly away in different directions in different waveforms.“Wow… how’s he doing that?”She got out of the car and walked straight up to Jake, with her hands in her loose pockets.“Mr. Jake, you sure are putting on a show,” Tessa grinned. “But I don't see Delma watching. What a waste.”Jake was startled by her entrance. He was too focused that he didn’t notice her coming. “You were saying something?”“I said, you shouldn’t practice so hard when Delma isn’t watching,” Tessa smirked. “Do it before her so that she’d be impressed.”“I-I w

Later that night.A phone rang.Davis woke up and saw that it was an unknown number. He answered it.But silence followed.“Hello?” Davis asked. “Who is this?”“I was expecting you to cut the call, but you’re rather patient,” a sweet female voice said from the other side.Davis’ eyes widened as he recognized that voice. “M-Miss Tessa?”It was twelve o’clock at night, so why did she call him at this hour? His heart started pounding regardless if it was to scold him or some other negative reason.“Why did you call me?” Davis cluelessly asked.“I was eating muffins, and I thought it would have been nice if we had muffins at the park,” Tessa replied.“Oh…” Davis didn’t know what to say. Did she really call him to tell just that? “I didn’t know that you liked muffins.”“I used to eat them when I was young,” Tessa replied. “I like the raisins they put in these muffins. They add nice texture to the bread.”“Then… I’ll buy muffins next time we spend time at the park?” Davis hesitantly stated.

You also tried to fight me for the factory. You’re brave, too. I can see why Delma is interested in you.”A few seconds passed.Melvyn released fog through his palm. It turned into a skull-faced fog and flew through the air at incredible speed.Within seconds, it arrived at the Hamilton mansion.Jake, who was in the backyard, looked up at the sky as a massive skull-faced fog came down, seemingly to devour him.Clenching his fist, he threw a punch at it.The fog got dispersed and then it condensed once more behind him, into a much smaller skull-faced fog.“I was doubtful, but now I’m sure tha

If you don’t have faith in yourself, then who will?”For some reason, Jake’s words made him feel better. “Stop teasing me, Bro.”“I ain’t teasing you as much as I’m teasing myself,” Jake chortled.Delma and Elmond were watching them from the balcony.“It doesn’t look like Davis succeeded even after giving the two systems back,” Delma uttered.“I’m not surprised,” Elmond casually said while eating pistachios. “The girls these days are as hypocritical as ever.
