CHAPTER 07

It didn’t take long for Elmond to realize who the culprit was.

There were some cameras that were dismantled, which was something the shedding system was capable of doing.

But what sealed the deal was the three dogs which lost all their hair.

On top of that, Jake was missing.

This led Elmond to come to the conclusion that Jake wasn’t kidnapped, but Jake was the one who actually ran away last night.

“If you had let me chip him when we caught him,” Elmond was coldly talking with Delma, “then we would have known where he is right now.”

“He’s not a dog, Grandpa.”

“But he left you, didn’t he?”

Delma visibly frowned. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think he’d run away again. He must really hate me,” she looked depressed and hurt.

Elmond’s heart ached. “He has the shedding system now. It won’t be easy to capture him, but don’t worry. I promise you, I will catch that little shit and bring him to you.”

He put his hand on her head and gently rubbed it.

“You just focus on slimming down, my little princess,” he kissed her on top of the head.

Afterward, Elmond walked out of the room and went to meet Jake’s family while wearing a new wig that make him look a little younger.

Jake’s family members were all looking guilty and were trembling, afraid that Elmond might punish him. Elmond looked a bit funny in his new wig, but that didn’t help them right now.

Elmond looked very intimidating. “Your son is so rebellious. We are willing to give him everything, so why can’t he put some trust in us?”

“We’re so sorry,” Jake’s parents kowtowed at Elmond’s feet. “Please don’t kill us.”

“Hmph, if I wanted you all dead, you’d have died long ago,” Elmond snorted. “Get up.”

Jake’s parents quickly got up and wiped their tears away.

“Tell me, does your son have any close friends or a girlfriend that you know of?” Elmond asked.

“No, sir. He doesn’t have any girlfriend,” Felicia said with certainty. She had already told Elmond all these details the first time Jake had run away. She never thought she’d be forced to explain everything to him once more. This was stressing her out so much.

It was all Jake’s fault.

How could he run away from such a rich family?

How does the brain in his head work?

Jake’s parents could not understand their son’s intentions at all.

“Do you have any idea where he might go?” Elmond asked them, appearing a little impatient on purpose.

But they could only shake their heads and apologize to him even more.

Elmond then came to the balcony and looked into the distance.

“From what I know, the Shedding system users prefer to be alone for whatever reason,” Elmond said. “I have to catch him before he gets better at using the shedding system. Things will get complicated if the shedding system falls into evil hands.”

Somewhere else in the city.

Anne Boone was living comfortably after receiving the million dollar reward for giving away Jake’s location.

Currently, she was living with her sister and brother-in-law and their daughter Layla.

Anne was talking with her friends online.

“When are you going to give us a party?”

“You said you got a million dollars, so we want you to spend at least ten thousand dollars on us.”

As her friends requested and demanded her for a party, Anne laughed. “I would throw a party if I could, but I have given all the money to my sister. So, I’m afraid there won’t be any party. Still, I will find a way to share my happiness.”

After she ended the online video chat, Anne took a deep breath.

“Why are you so happy over hurting an innocent man?” a voice reached her ears, startling her.

She immediately looked toward the door, where Jake was standing.

“W-Who are you?” Her eyes widened very much.

“I only lost my hair, but you can’t even remember me?” Jake’s gaze turned cold. “This really hurts my feelings. Do I look ugly now?”

“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Anne nervously said as he stepped forward. “D-Do I know you?”

“I’m the guy you snitched on to get a million dollar reward,” Jake replied.

Anne’s heart shook for a second. Her eyes widened some more. “N-No way. You are… what happened to your hair?”

“Do you finally remember me now?” Jake rubbed his bald head and let out an angry smile. “I wish I could cry, but how can I cry before I make you pay for what you did?”

“W-What did I do?” Anne anxiously said. “I only wanted the reward. I didn’t hurt you in the process because you were taken home, weren’t you?”

“Yeah, but my home is like a hell to me,” Jake came closer and leaned onto her, who was moving back on the bed. “So, I’ve decided to flee once more. And I’ve also decided to stay here with you… as your boyfriend.”

“W-What?” Anne was shocked.

“Yeah,” Jake kept smiling angrily. “They would never think that I would be living with the girl who gave away my location. I’m going to make full use of you, girl. And you only have yourself to blame.”

“A-Aren’t you afraid that I will give away your location again?” Anne asked.

“No, you won’t do that again,” Jake brought his face closer to the point their lips almost touched.

Anne’s heart raced like never before. Though she was afraid of him, she also felt strangely excited at the same time, as if she wanted him to kiss her against her will.
