“Hi, Delma,” Melvyn, the handsome blonde man, gave her the bouquet of variegated flowers. “You look extra bright today.”
“What are the flowers for?” Delma asked, her voice slightly cold and disinterested.
“I heard that you caught the man you were looking for,” Melvy let out a reserved smile. “So I’m here to congratulate you. Can I see him?”
“You will see him when the time is right,” Delma replied, keeping eye-contact with him without blinking.
Melvyn forced out a smile. He looked at the treadmill. “I told you plenty of times to fast and slim down, but you never listened. Now, you’re trying to get thin. What changed? Is the new guy making you do this?”
“You’re handsome, Melvyn. You’re a one in a million. There’s no doubt about that,” Delma openly said as she always had. “But you’re my cousin. We grew up together. I just… don’t have any romantic feelings toward you.”
“But I have feelings for you,” he stated, with his hands in his pockets.
Delma rolled her eyes. “Why don’t you tell a more believable lie? When I look at myself in the mirror, I’m not able to love myself. So, how can you love me?”
“It’s not about how you look outside, Delma,” Melvyn retorted. “For me, it’s more about your character. You’re unlike any other woman I know. And our families are made for each other. If we marry, then only good things will happen.”
Delma didn’t say anything.
“Let me take a look around the mansion,” Melvyn said and walked away.
Delma looked at her assistant. “Don’t let him meet Jake’s family.”
“Got it,” the female assistant nodded and rushed away.
Delma slightly frowned.
The first time Jake ran away, Melvyn didn’t know who put the million dollar reward on Jake’s head.
However, after Jake was caught, Melvyn came to know that Delma was behind it.
So, Delma was sure that Melvyn would be itching to meet and talk to Jake and do anything to get him to walk away from Delma.
Melvyn might even kill if Jake were to show resistance.
But right now, Jake wasn’t showing any interest in Delma, so she was worried that Melvyn might manipulate Jake and play with Delma’s emotions. He was certainly capable of doing that and so much more.
Just as she predicted, Melvyn kept roaming all around the mansion, but he didn’t see Jake or his family members.
This was also within Melvyn’s expectations.
“Where is she keeping him?” Melvyn wondered. “If I can just meet him once… I’m confident I will persuade him with money.”
Melvyn was also filthy rich. His family was not quite as rich as the Hamilton family, but he still got so much money he didn't know what to do with it.
“I have to find him quickly. I also have to find a way into Delma’s heart. If she’s with me, I can sit on top of the world. She’s worthy to be my queen and sit next to me.”
He clenched his fists in resolve, and faint black vapors engulfed his fists, releasing so much heat the flowers in the vase wilted.
Somewhere else in the city.
Jake and Anne had come out to tour the city in a car.
“Are you sure you can roam like this? What if people recognize you from the reward poster?” she asked.
“Even you couldn’t recognize me until I told you who I am,” Jake said, chortling. “So, I don’t think you need to worry about people recognizing me.”
“W-Well, you got a point.”
A few seconds passed as she aimlessly drove through the streets.
Jake was just observing everything through the window.
Something definitely changed in him after the system chose him.
He felt the world not as a whole, but as a collection of interlocking parts, each with its own weakness, its own breaking point. He could see the architecture of anything, from the simplest machine to the most complex spell. He could feel the wind coming and going and its speed and the directions it was taking. He could hear the voices of many people and tell their location from far away.
Every experience felt new, enhanced and profound than ever before.
A whole new world has surely opened up to him.
“So, where are we exactly going?” Anne asked. “Oh, by the way, I should tell you this beforehand. I don’t have the money to spend for you.”
“What?” Jake was shocked. “I’m a runaway, girl. You expect me to carry my debit card with me or what?”
Anne stopped the car. “Then let’s get back home. We’ll start dating when ‘you’ have the money.”
“Just take some money from your sister,” Jake suggested.
“You are the man. You should be spending the money on a date,” Anne retorted.
“I don’t care who spends money on a date,” Jake casually replied. “So, when we go home, you are going to ask your sister for some money.”
“I won’t,” Anne quickly said.
Jake put his hand on her thigh and rubbed it a little, making her jerk in pleasure. “You are gonna do it.”
Anne removed his hand and smiled. “I’m not that easy, Jake. You’re going to earn the money yourself if you want to date me! And that’s final!”
Jake was surprised by her grit, which reminded him of his sister. Both Prisha and Anne were petite and innocent-looking, but they also were very hard to deal with.
Just then, a voice rang in Jake’s mind.
And he received his first mission from the shedding system.

EPILOGUE
A few months later.Guests from all around the world arrived at Hamilton mansion, their laughter and chatter echoing like music through the opulent halls on this grand wedding day. Many of those who knew Elmond well paid their respects at his grave which was built in the backyard.Jake’s schoolmates were also arriving in helicopters arranged by the Hamilton family, and this genuinely made them proud to see how far Jake had come. They were greeted by soldiers wielding guns who shot at them, not with bullets but flowers. The flowers rained on the guests and rubbed their natural fragrance on them, making them feel like they were entering heaven. The honeyed wedding cake was as big as a swimming pool, and the pools weren’t filled with water but pristine wine. There were top professional photographers capturing images and videos, but there were also world-famous painters who were capturing the essence of the wedding with their speed drawings. The atmosphere around the whole 30,000 acres of
CHAPTER 100
The next day.Jake opened his eyes and found himself inside his guest room in the Hamilton mansion. He got up from the bed with effort. As he walked, he stopped by the mirror. He still looked like he weighed less than eighty pounds after he had received fluids and recovered overnight. This made him realize that he had really pushed himself to the limits during the fight with Melvyn. After taking a long, deep breath, Melvyn stepped out of the room.He could hear Prisha’s happy voice, saying how excited she was to get an admission into MIT for the psychology department. How the hell did she get an invite from MIT? Jake wondered.Did Delma work behind the scenes and made it possible? At the same time, Davis was telling his parents how he wanted to buy a fast food chain, and so he wanted some capital from them.“I will become successful, and in one or two years, I will make Tessa look at me differently!” Davis told his parents.“If you can catch a trillion-dollar woman with a few million
CHAPTER 99
“Ethereal Bane Fists!”Poisonous fog blasts rained down on Jake without end, his voice thick just like the swirling tendrils of dark smog. On top of it, Melvyn used the telekinesis power to send big rocks flying at Jake.Jake blocked and deflected as many as he could and tried to break through Melvyn’s defenses.Despite raging in wrath, Melvyn was actively dodging Jake’s attacks, his eyes like chips of obsidian themselves. The fog around him solidified, churning and darkening, hinting at the terrible power it held.“You look cute without hair,” Jake commented, hoping it’d make Melvyn lower his guard.Melvyn’s intensity of attacking increased even more, and this helped Jake land a few hits in.But they didn’t do as much damage as he thought, or at least Melvyn was in too much of rage to be stopped by just any attacks. And he was using his telekinesis ability to reduce the impact of Jake’s attacks while strengthening his own.At some point, the black flames thickened and exploded.“Hell
CHAPTER 98
A couple of days ago.“Miracles don’t just happen,” Elmond was talking to Jake after soundly beating him during practice. “A lot of unseen work goes before one can pull off those jaw-dropping victories. To defeat Melvyn, you will certainly need a lot of raw power, but more than that, you should be able to suppress your own fears. Otherwise, you won’t be able to beat his fog.”“Suppress my own fears?” Jake looked puzzled. “I don’t get what you mean.”“Why do you think you got crystallized even when you had the shedding system?” Elmond said. “It’s because you couldn’t overcome his fog even when he wasn’t using his full strength.”“Y-You’re telling me.. His fog can do a lot more?”“It’s a world ending power… just like your system,” Elmond stated. “That’s why they’re called legendary systems. There are only a dozen or so systems like yours around the world, starting with the alpha system. When you’re competing at the top level, you’ll need to observe not just your opponent but also yourse

Delma used the satellite towers she owned to check in the direction Jake and Melvyn had gone.It didn’t take her more than a couple of minutes to spot their location.“They went to Lemuria…” Delma frowned.“The lost continent?” Drake was startled. “Don’t the reptilian hybrids live there?”“I’m heading over,” Delma said and rushed away. “Bring all our forces there!”“What about Benson Blake?” Drake quickly said.“Kick him out!” she yelled.Benson looked quite upset with himself for many reasons. He looked up at Drake. “Let me accompany you to Lemuria. I will help you deal with my son.”“You think I’ll take you for your word?” Drake retorted.“Please!” Benson urged.Meanwhile, on the Lemuria continent. The exchange of attacks between Jake and Melvyn destroyed everything around them. They moved around on the massive content like rays of light. From ashy grounds to gardens of giant olive trees with fruits many times bigger than humans, they kept fighting without bothering about what’s aro
