“Was removing my shirt not enough?” Jake began to remove the button on his jeans.

“W-Wait!” Anne quickly said. “I don’t like doing it with a man whom I don’t even know much about, so why don’t we take it slow?”

“How slow?” Jake asked.

“Let’s give each other a few days,” Anne said, her face flushed a bit. “We’ll go out on dates and get to know each other. Then we will build attraction toward each other more naturally.”

“Ah,” Jake nodded. “I like the idea.”

Anne then picked his shirt off the floor and tossed it back to him.

Jake put the shirt back on. “Shall we go out on a date now? Our first date?”

Anne forced out a smile. “Why are you in such a hurry?”

“I’m not in a hurry,” Jake replied, but his body language told otherwise.

Just then, the door was knocked.

“H-Hide!” Anne told him in a low voice. “Hide under the bed.”

“There’s no need to hide,” Jake got up and opened the door, shocking not just Anne but also her niece who opened the door.

The little girl Layla saw Jake and quickly ran back to her room without looking back.

“That’s the girl I saw in the park,” Jake said. “Is she your daughter?”

“I’m not married!” Anne blurted. “She’s my sister’s daughter.”

“Oh…” Jake then walked out of the room. “I’ll go and introduce myself to your family.”

Anne’s eyes widened. “What’s with his confidence?” she muttered under her breath. She quickly followed him and told him in a low voice, “Both my sister and brother-in-law are lawyers. If you say anything extra, they will ruin your life. So, watch your mouth before you say anything.”

“Got it.”

As they climbed down the stairs, the couple that was at the dining table saw them and were shocked.

Just then, Jake put his arm around Anne’s shoulder and smiled.

That simple gesture completely gave the picture away to Anne’s sister and brother-in-law.

“Anne, who is he?” her sister, Verna, asked quickly. “It hasn’t been three months since you broke up with Shane, and you’re already dating another man and even brought him home?”

“And he’s bald,” her brother-in-law, Donovan, commented.

“S-Sis,” Anne didn’t know what to say. “I…”

“Anne said she especially liked my bald head,” Jake told them, making Anne even more embarrassed.

Verna was shocked by Jake’s words. “You expect me to believe that nonsense? I know what my sister’s tastes are!”

“Oh, you clearly don’t,” Jake calmly retorted while rubbing his bald head. He was slowly but surely growing in swag in his new look.

“You…” Verna gnashed her teeth.

Anne was a slender and beautiful girl. Many men were already expressing their wishes to marry her, so why did she have to fall for a bald guy now of all times?

“What do you do for a living?” Donovan asked, with little to no respect in his voice.

“I don’t have a job right now,” Jake replied with a smile.

Donovan and Verna looked at each other and shook their heads.

Anne was trying her best to not reveal her emotions right now. (He’s completely making a mockery out of me!)

“What does your family do?” Verna asked.

“We own a fast food selling shop,” Jake replied.

“A fast food center?” Verna's face warped. “So you don’t have it in your blood to work smartly.”

“You can cook dishes with hard work, but you can’t make them taste good unless you have the smarts,” Jake retorted. “And I don’t pee with my full strength everytime, so I think I do have some level of smartness in my blood.”

Verna’s jaw hardened.

“Let’s eat breakfast, Anne,” Jake held her hand and brought her to the table when she should be the one doing that. After all this was her sister’s house, and Jake was only a guest.

But Jake acted as if this was his own house.

Verna and Donovan didn’t like Jake’s attitude.

They already came to the conclusion that he was just using her so he could freeload in her house and pass time, for as long as possible.

Meanwhile, at Ordinance Mansion, also called Hamilton Mansion by many people.

Delma was slowly running on a treadmill that was newly fixed on the balcony. She was sweating and gasping a lot, but she did not stop.

Elmond and a few female bodyguards in suits were right there, in case she needed help. There was a doctor and two nurses on standby in the mansion as well.

After Delma couldn’t run anymore, she stopped the machine and sat down on the couch. It was more like a falling-back than sitting-down.

“How do you feel?” Elmond offered her salt lemon water.

“The whole body is hurting. Then ankles and knees especially are screaming,” Delma replied.

“You’re pushing yourself too hard too fast when you’re not using your superpower system. The shedding system did choose him, but…” Elmond voiced his mind, “any man worth having will not make you chase him. And he’s run away for a second time, so… you get what I’m saying, don’t you? If anyone sees you like this, they will wonder if you have any self-respect or not.”

Delma smiled. “I’m not slimming down just for him. I’m doing it for my sake, and for your sake, too, Grandpa.”

Elmond squeezed his lips together a bit emotionally.

Just then, a white limousine arrived at the mansion. A handsome gentleman in a white suit stepped out with a bouquet in his hand. His natural blonde hair dazzled under sunlight.

“Ah, shit, he’s here,” Elmond muttered under his breath. “He doesn’t give up on you, does he?”

Delma frowned upon seeing the devilishly handsome young man. “Don’t let him know that Jake ran away again,” she whispered.

“Of course. If he knows, then he would be hellbent on killing Jake so that he can then marry you without any issues.”

“Ethereal Bane Fists!”Poisonous fog blasts rained down on Jake without end, his voice thick just like the swirling tendrils of dark smog. A couple of days ago.“Miracles don’t just happen,” Elmond was talking to Jake after soundly beating him during practice. “A lot of unseen work goes before one can pull off those jaw-dropping victories. To defeat Melvyn, you will certainly need a lot of raw power, but more than that, you should be able to suppress your own fears. Otherwise, you won’t be able to beat his fog.”“Suppress my own fears?” Jake looked puzzled. “I don’t get what you mean.”“Why do you think you got crystallized even when you had the shedding system?” Elmond said. “It’s because you couldn’t overcome his fog even when he wasn’t using his full strength.”“Y-You’re telling me.. His fog can do a lot more?”“It’s a world ending power… just like your system,” Elmond stated. “That’s why they’re called legendary systems. There are only a dozen or so systems like yours around the world, starting with the alpha system. When you’re competing at the top level, you’ll need to observe not just your opponent but also yourse
