Darius turned back to Dr. Morrison. "What was his procedure?"

Dr. Morrison swallowed hard. "A... a routine colonoscopy. Yesterday. Minor procedure. No complications."

"A colonoscopy," Darius repeated flatly. "And you left a patient with shattered legs to attend to someone recovering from a routine colonoscopy."

"Mr. Gonzalez required—" Dr. Morrison started.

"Mr. Gonzalez required NOTHING," Darius cut him off. "He demanded luxury service because he could. And you provided it at the expense of a patient who actually needed medical attention."

"Now you listen here!" Magnus's voice rose to a near-shriek. "I am Magnus Gonzalez! Patriarch of the Gonzalez family! A C-ranked noble! When I require medical attention, I GET medical attention! I don't care about some worthless charity patient who probably doesn't even deserve to be in this hospital!"

"Bill Jackson," Darius said quietly, "sacrificed his legs protecting my family's honor. He's worth more than you'll ever be."

"WORTH?" Magnus's laug

"Protected by a principal?" Darius interrupted, his tone making it clear what he thought of that protection. "Words and threats from administrators won't stop someone like that. People who use violence and intimidation only understand one language.""The War God is right," Aria agreed. "Men like this Josh don't respect boundaries or authority. They only respect force. I should go to the campus tomorrow and make it clear what happens to people who threaten you.""No one is killing or threatening anyone!" Alessia said firmly. "I can handle Josh. What's bothering me more is Emma. The fact that I trusted her, considered her a friend, and she just... abandoned me when I needed help most."Bill reached over and patted Alessia's hand sympathetically. "That's always the worst kind of betrayal. Not from enemies—you expect that—but from people you thought you could trust.""Exactly," Alessia said quietly. "And the thing is, something about her feels off. The way she acts, the way she looks at p

The evening had settled over Villa Number 001 with a peaceful quietness that felt almost unnatural given the violence and chaos of the past twenty-four hours. The dining room was elegantly lit, the table set with fine china and crystal glasses that caught the chandelier's light like captured stars.Darius sat at the head of the table, his expression thoughtful and distant as he cut into his steak. Beside him, Bill ate with the comfortable ease of someone who'd shared thousands of meals with his brother. Aria sat ramrod straight in her chair, her military posture never quite relaxing even during dinner. And Alessia picked at her food, pushing vegetables around her plate without actually eating them. The silence stretched on—not comfortable, but weighted. Tense. Like everyone had things they wanted to say but didn't know how to start. Finally, Darius set down his fork and looked directly at Alessia. "Alright, what's wrong?"Alessia's head snapped up, startled. "What? Nothing. I'm fine."

Edward leaned in close, his breath hot on the prisoner's face. "Then let me refresh your memory. There was a confrontation in the garden. My nephew Stephen confronted a man—a tall man, military bearing, dangerous. They argued. And then Stephen was killed. You were there. You saw it. Now tell me exactly what happened."The prisoner's resistance crumbled under Edward's intensity. More tears fell. His body shook with fear and pain."Okay! Okay!" he sobbed. "I did see something! But please, you have to understand—I was terrified! I didn't want to get involved! I just wanted to do my job and go home!""Talk," Edward commanded. "Every detail. Now."The prisoner took a shuddering breath, his words tumbling out in a desperate rush. "There was a man—exactly like you said. Tall, maybe six-two or six-three. Military posture, moved like a soldier. Dark hair, cold eyes. He was standing by himself near the rose bushes when Mr. Wesley approached him.""Stephen approached him?" Edward clarified. "Not

Josh stood there for a long moment, his face still contorted with fury, but his eyes were calculating now. The rage was giving way to cold pragmatism—the survival instinct of someone who'd grown up in a world where deals and compromises were currency."Fine," Josh said through gritted teeth. "You want cooperation? You want partnership? Then let's be clear about the terms."Emma's posture relaxed slightly, sensing victory. "I'm listening.""You help me get Alessia," Josh said, his voice low and dangerous. "Not just into my bed—I want her broken. Completely broken. I want that smug, self-righteous attitude of hers shattered into pieces. I want her begging, humiliated, destroyed."His eyes glinted with malicious satisfaction. "She embarrassed me. Made me look weak in front of everyone. Called me pathetic, worthless, said I was nothing without my father's money. Nobody talks to me like that and walks away unscathed.""Consider it done," Emma said calmly. "I'll break her piece by piece. St

Josh's breathing was labored, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles were white. "What. Do. You. Want.""I already told you," Emma replied. "But let me be more specific this time, since we seem to be having communication issues."She started counting on her fingers. "First, I want protection on this campus. Real protection. If anyone threatens me, touches me, or even looks at me wrong, you make sure they regret it. Your reputation becomes my shield.""Second, I want money. Fifty thousand dollars deposited into an account I'll provide. That's for immediate needs—paying off my family's debts, getting us stable. After that, I want a monthly stipend. Five thousand a month for as long as our arrangement continues.""Third, I want status. You treat me like your girlfriend in public. We're seen together at events. You introduce me to important people. You give me access to the social circles I could never reach on my own."She paused, watching his face cycle through expressions of rage and

Josh's face contorted with rage, his features twisting into something almost inhuman. His eyes bore into Emma with such intense hatred that if looks could kill, she would have dropped dead on the spot. The veins in his neck stood out prominently, his jaw clenched so tight it looked like his teeth might crack from the pressure."You—" he started, his voice a low growl that promised violence. "You have no idea what you've just done. No idea who you're threatening."Emma felt a flutter of fear in her chest—a natural response to the murderous intent radiating from Josh like heat from a furnace. Her heart rate increased. Her palms grew slightly sweaty.Every survival instinct screamed at her to back down, apologize, run.But she held her ground.Because she did have the upper hand. And she knew it.The video had been a lucky accident—if you could call witnessing potential manslaughter "lucky."Emma had been walking home from her evening shift at the library that night, cutting through the
