Chapter III

The moment the princess called him Louie, he immediately snapped out of his sudden rampage and pointed the tip of the machete at the young lady's throat. His killer eyes pierced at her, and the expression on his face hardened.

"Why do you call me that name?" he growled, tightening his grip with the handle, crinkling his nose.

"I understand that you are not fond of me calling your name but if you choose to kill me right now your situation will worsen. I can tell my father what you've done today and he will reward you and help your family."

"Family, you say?" he scoffs. "I live alone!"

"Let me live, Louie... please." The princess' eyes suddenly flooded with tears, her eyes begging him to spare her. "This is not you, Louie. You don't kill good people!"

Chris' chest just started to ache again making him grunt, his head down. What is this? Did they design this boy's heart to be this soft? Why the fuck is he here?

"Tell me, where in the world are we?"

The princess had her large eyes staring at him, her mouth slightly gaped. It was for a moment until she looks away slightly to the side.

"We are in the land of Ametrine," she answered. "What happened, Louie? Did a wizard take your memory of this world?"

"A wizard? What do you mean by a wizard? Why do you know me?"

"You have to drop the machete. My father's men are coming. You don't want to be outnumbered and killed here."

"I have you as a hostage. I will not be killed!"

"You don't want to mess with the assassins, Louie. Please!"

It's true an assassin is not easy to mess with. He is an assassin himself but not from whatever world this was, and not when he is a boy. He cannot risk his life and if he follows the plan suggested by this young girl, it's either he survives as a hero and gather information or he will fall into a trap and he'd have to kill everyone he can.

"Throw me off and I'll find a way to cut your throat, princess!"

Chris withdraws the machete, letting it go and fall on the ground. He doesn't need it. If he wants, he can kill the young lady with his two hands but she was still of use so he'll let it slide. Turning his back on the princess, he squatted and searched for anything valuable he can get from the bandits. He searched their pockets and he found himself a dagger and some potions that had his brows knitted together.

"What are these bottles about?" He looked back at the princess who had just taken off her veil. She looked pretty but too young for him.

"Do you not really remember anything?" she asked, brows drawn together.

"Listen here, young lady-- if I know you, I'd call you by your name. I don't know what wizard took this boy's life but I have to get back to my own body!"

"Young lady? Aren't we the same age?"

"Damn it!" he cursed, gritting his teeth. He keeps forgetting that he is supposed to be a boy! But what can he do? He is supposed to be a 27 years old guy who has a hobby of killing people. "I'm no kid!"

The princess scoffed, tossing her head to the side and crossing her arms across her small chest. She suddenly forgot that she is to be killed if anything goes wrong.

"So what are these bottles? Poison?"

"No, they're potions. Though some are definitely poison but more just gives you a boost, power, or medicine."

"How do I know which one is which and I don't end up drinking damn poison?"

"You don't unless you own or test them."

"When will those assassins come? It's been a while. I swear if you--"

"They will arrive shortly. Some might even be lingering in the corner." She interrupted him. "I had just escaped from the castle. I needed air."

"Sure and now you killed a coachman for that air. You don't even sympathize with the man you dragged along. A terrible princess," he remarks.

"Now you are sounding like you, Louie."

Chris threw the princess a dirty stare, twitching his upper lip up before going back in his observation with the potions. These bottles will be useless if he can't figure out which one is which.

So this is a world built on magic, he thought. He wonders if ghouls, creeps or whatever monster is also living in this world. He used to believe in dragons when he was a young dreamer but as he grew it just remained a dream.

"Are there dragons in this world?"

"They reside in Citrin-- at least most of them that I heard of."

This awakened something in Chris. The thought of a dragon right before his eyes excites him. It lit up a little flame in his chest.

"Where is this Citrin?"

"It is far south."

"How far exactly?"

"I don't know! I've never been there Louie! I only know the way!"

Suddenly a corner of Chris' mouth curved up. Before he wakes up from this absurd dream or this game, he wants to damn ride a dragon!

"We are not going back to your castle. We are heading far South."

"What?!"

"You wanted some air, didn't you?" He questions, making his way to untie the horses from the carriage. They could use the carriage but it won't be long until an assassin catches up to them. They will be faster with horses. "Can you ride a horse?"

"Certainly not! A princess--"

"Then you're riding with me," he uttered, moving the horse closer to the princess. Without permission, he just put his hands on her waist and lift her up to get on the horse. Good thing he practiced horse riding too.

"I will fall!" the princess kept yelling. "I swear, Louie! This is not a good idea at all!"

But Chris does not care if it was a bad idea. He helped himself hopped on the back and he held the lead. Before going, he leaned forward a little which made the princess lean too and he rubbed the horse calmly.

"Now, which way is it, princess?"

"I am telling you, this is not a good idea, Louie!" Her voice sounds worried. "But just follow the way and we'll be in a town soon. There, I can tell you the next."

With the information, they moved forward, the wind against their faces. Chris had a grin plastered on his face thinking when the last time he had to do more than kill. They had not gotten far when an arrow just came flying towards them.

Surprisingly, Chris was quick to move his head to the side but it still earned him a cut on his cheek. He felt it stinging as the princess gasped.

"They're coming for us! Let's just turn back so they don't hurt you, Louie!"

"I'm no Louie," he uttered, screaming 'heya' as he motioned the lead. They should be two times faster than before. No assassin can catch up to them, not unless--

"They are right behind us!" The princess screamed as she glanced over his shoulder to see the ones running for them. "You're going to die!"

Chris didn't want to end here. He has that caller to call, he has to find out why he is suddenly here in this world and he has to see a dragon. There's an unending list of the things he wants to do before he perishes.

"Hold on tight, young lady! We're going extra."

The princess darted her eyes at him, her breathing heavy and her brows crossed. This should be good air for her but not when their lives are at risk!

"You are insane, Louie!" She exclaimed, inhaling and exhaling deeply. But she could not do anything but pull his shirt forward. "I trust you. Let's escape again!"
