Chapter 9

Seraphina looks at the wolf statue in my hands and notices how I keep staring at it. She smiles softly and says, “Actually, Alex was looking at it. He seems to like the statue a lot.”

I look at Alex, who is watching it with curious eyes, and something inside me melts. Without thinking, I say, “Then you should take it.”

Seraphina quickly shakes her head and says, “No, it’s okay. There’s no need.”

But I gently place the statue in Alex’s hands and tell him, “Keep it, if you like it."

Alex holds it, his face lights up with happiness, and a small smile appears on his lips. I keep watching him, feeling a strange warmth in my chest that I cannot understand.

Suddenly, my wolf’s voice echoes inside my mind after being silent for so long. I freeze as a familiar scent fills the air. I inhale deeply, trying to understand what is happening, and my entire body goes still when I realize it is the scent of my heir. My blood.

My eyes immediately move toward Alex, and I stare at him in disbelief. I focus on him carefully, and for a moment, I see a golden reflection in his eyes, the same golden eyes that belong to my wolf. My heart stops. It feels impossible, Alex is my son.

Five years ago, I thought I lost everything when Luna disappeared, but now I realize she took a part of me with her—the part I never knew I had. Seraphina smiles at Alex and says, “Come on, baby, it’s time to sleep now.”

She takes him away, and I just stand there watching them leave. My eyes fill with tears because for the first time in years, I feel something I thought I would never feel again. My hands begin to shake as I whisper, “Alex… my son?”

I immediately walk toward her room, my mind filled with anger and confusion. I reach near the door, I look through the glass and see Kale holding Seraphina’s hand.

The sight instantly makes my blood boil, and jealousy takes over me. I cannot understand why it bothers me so much, but seeing someone else being close to my Luna hurts more than I want to admit.

In anger, I grab the flower vase kept beside me tightly, and with my force, it breaks into pieces. The sound makes both of them come outside. Kale looks at the broken vase in surprise and asks, “Oh, how did this happen, Alpha Xander?”

I quickly hide my emotions and reply, “It just touched my hand while I was walking.”

I pretend everything is normal, but my eyes follow Seraphina as she goes inside. Soon, she returns with the first aid box, and before I can say anything, she gently takes my injured hand and starts cleaning the blood.

I stare at her in shock because after all this time, she is still worried about me. Her touch feels familiar, reminding me of the past when she used to care for me. Kale notices and says, “Luna, leave it. He can manage it himself.”

But Seraphina looks at him and says, “Kale, look how much blood is coming out.”

She continues cleaning my wound carefully, and I just keep looking at her, lost in the moment. For a few seconds, I forget all my pain and only see my Luna caring for me again. When she finishes, I hold her hand and softly say, “Thank you.”

Suddenly, Kale’s hand comes between us, separating our hands. He says, “Most welcome,” and holds Luna’s hand, taking her away from me. My eyes fill with anger as I watch him.

He is pulling my Luna away from me, and I cannot accept it. Just then, I feel a small hand touching mine. I look down and see Alex holding my hand. My anger disappears instantly.

I look at him and realize that this little boy is my heir, my blood. I gently pick him up in my arms and say, “Come on, we will play together.” Alex happily nods his head, and I take him to my room.

I gently run my hand through Alex’s hair and smile softly. “My little boy,” I say.

He laughs and starts playing with the wolf statue happily. Watching him makes my heart feel strangely warm. I look at him and ask, “Do you like it here?”

Alex immediately smiles and says, “Yes, I love it. I had so much fun. Your kingdom is so big and beautiful.”

I smile and ask him, “If I tell you to stay here forever, would you?” He shakes his head and says, “No, I can’t stay without my mom.”

His answer touches my heart, and I ask softly, “What if your mom stays here forever too?” He innocently replies, “But my mom won’t stay without my dad.” I become silent, and his words fill my mind with questions. I quickly change the topic and ask, “What is your favorite thing?”

He happily says, “I love wolves.” I smile and tell him, “You will become a genius one day.” Then I ask about his mom, and he says, “My mom is scared of wolves.”

I become surprised and ask why. Alex tells me, “Mom gets bad dreams about wolves. Dad told me you have magical powers and you can make mom better.”

I keep looking at him, shocked by his words, and think that Seraphina’s fate is already connected with the wolf. I gently kiss his forehead, but then I hear someone call his name. I look up and see Seraphina standing there.

She smiles and says, “Sorry, this little troublemaker came to bother you.”

I tell her, “No, I was just talking with him.” She holds Alex’s hand and says, “Come on, it’s time to sleep.” As she turns away, my eyes fall on her hand, and I freeze when I see the ring.

The same ring I gave her. I stare at it in disbelief and ask, “Your ring is beautiful.” She looks at it and says, “Yes, Kale gave it to me during our wedding.”

My heart stops. Kale? How can he give her this ring when it was me who placed it on her finger? I hide my emotions and stay silent. Then I take out the pendant from my pocket and hold it toward her.

“Keep this,” I say. She looks at the pendant and freezes, as if something from her past is trying to return. For a moment, I feel like she remembers me, but suddenly she grabs her head as a sharp pain hits her. “Ah…” she whispers.

I immediately catch her before she falls and say, “Luna!”

She looks weak and says, “My health is not good… I should go.” She takes Alex’s hand and leaves.

I am still standing there, lost in my thoughts about Seraphina and the truth she is hiding, when suddenly an alarm echoes through the kingdom. My expression changes instantly as a warrior rushes toward me with urgent news. “Alpha Xander, the kingdom is under attack!”

My entire body becomes alert, and my wolf awakens inside me. Without wasting a single second, I move toward the battlefield, ready to protect everything that belongs to me.

Just then, Kale arrives, his face serious and tense. He says, “Xander, I checked the outer borders, but something feels wrong. The enemy’s presence disappeared suddenly.”

I look at him suspiciously because an attack cannot simply vanish like that. Both of us quickly go outside to investigate, expecting to find enemies or signs of a fight, but there is nothing.

My instincts tell me something is wrong. Suddenly, a guard comes running back and says that something strange has happened inside the kingdom. I immediately turn around and rush back. When I reach the palace, my heart stops. In front of me, I see Seraphina and Alex tied up.

I feel an intense rage building inside me as I look at Seraphina and Alex tied up in front of me. My eyes start glowing with anger, and my wolf’s power begins to rise.

I am ready to destroy anyone who dares to hurt them, but suddenly I realize that losing control will only put them in more danger. Just then, Kale starts shouting loudly, trying to draw everyone’s attention toward himself. “Leave them! Fight me instead!” he yells, making all the enemies focus on him.

I understand his plan immediately. While everyone’s attention is on Kale, I quietly move toward Seraphina and Alex. My heart aches seeing them like this, but I stay calm for their safety.

I quickly free them and, along with my trusted Beta, secretly send them back to the royal palace where they will be protected. Before leaving, I look at Seraphina for a moment, making sure she and Alex are safe.

Then I turn back toward the battlefield. My anger returns as I walk back, knowing that whoever planned this attack will not escape. I return to face the enemies.

I return to the battlefield, my anger is no longer controllable. I see the enemies standing in front of me, thinking they have already won, but they do not understand the mistake they have made.

They attacked my kingdom, they threatened my people, and they tried to harm my Luna and my heir. My wolf’s power rises inside me, and a dangerous growl escapes from my throat. The entire battlefield falls silent for a moment as everyone feels the pressure of my presence.

My eyes glow with fury, and I step forward like a storm ready to destroy everything in its path. The enemies hesitate, but their fear comes too late. I attack with full force, moving faster than they can react.

Every strike I make is filled with rage and the pain of everything I have lost. One by one, they fall before me. The warriors who thought they could defeat the Alpha of this kingdom are now running in fear, but I do not let them escape.

During the battle, I suddenly notice Kale. He is badly injured but still standing, still protecting everyone. Even though we have our differences, I know he is fighting for the same reason, Seraphina and Alex’s safety.

Before I can reach him, I see an enemy soldier aiming a weapon at him. My eyes widen when I realize the danger. Without thinking, I rush toward him. A bullet is fired, and I quickly move in front of Kale, blocking the attack.

The bullet misses him, and I take the risk to save his life. Kale looks at me in shock, unable to understand why I protected him. I simply look at him and say, “You can hate me later. Right now, we have a kingdom to protect.”

We continue fighting together. The enemies keep attacking, but their numbers are falling. My warriors surround them, and soon there is no way for them to escape.

I unleash my final strength and let out a powerful roar that shakes the entire battlefield. The remaining enemies freeze in fear as they realize they have lost. One by one, they surrender or fall.

When the battle finally ends, silence covers the kingdom. The enemies who came to destroy everything are gone.

I stand among the battlefield, breathing heavily, my clothes covered in dust and blood, but my mind only thinks about one thing, Seraphina and Alex are safe. I look toward the palace, knowing I will return to them.
