“What?!” Lucia’s eyes widened. She couldn't believe her ears. “What are you saying? Didn’t the Turners lose her in a gang war long ago?”

“I used to believe the same.” Garaine turned to her friend.

“But how are you so sure that it's her?” Lucia asked, unconvinced by Garaine’s words. “I mean you never saw her, did you?”

“There is a huge portrait of her hanging on the wall in my father’s room,” Garaine explained. “It's impossible not to recognize her.”

“Then something is greatly fishy.” Lucia bobbed thoughtfully.

Oliver left shortly. After a few minutes, a maid appeared with a covered tray in her hands. The assassins glanced at each other, communicating with their eyes. They nodded. As the maid was about to pass by the pillar, behind which they were hiding, Garaine knocked her unconscious.
