A sly, furious smirk curled on Samuel's lips. He had been a renowned doctor in the capital since the age of thirty-five. Since then, no one had ever dared to defy him, let alone insult him.
And now, in this remote place far from the capital, someone had the audacity to do just that. Remaining silent would do nothing to quell his anger.
“Well? Do you still have the guts to uphold that arrogance of yours?”
Samuel was confident in his prognosis. Faced with Wesley’s condition, any doctor would have arrived at the same conclusion as he had.
If this foolish young man claimed otherwise, it was clearly nothing but nonsense. And rather than allowing this youth to flaunt his baseless confidence, why not take the chance to prove himself right?
Marc turned his face toward Samuel. Instead of fear, his expression was utterly calm.
“I accept,” he said lightly.
Without another word, Marc took Wesley’s hand and checked his pulse. As the doctor had said, the old man’s condition was indeed critical.
Not even the best doctors in the entire kingdom would likely be able to save him. But Marc was no ordinary doctor.
Ever since he had accidentally swallowed that green jade stone, an immense wealth of medical knowledge had seemed to imprint itself onto his mind. From the simplest techniques to the most intricate procedures, he mastered it all as though he had studied for decades.
“Conventional treatment won’t help,” Marc remarked without lifting his head. “You’ll need more than just basic methods like that.”
Samuel knew those words were directed at him. But instead of feeling offended, he burst out laughing.
“Hahaha! Excellent! This is highly entertaining! I’ve never met someone so skilled at acting as you.”
Samuel, who had heard bits and pieces about Helma Tilcott and her so-called divine healing methods, assumed Marc was about to perform a similar display. But seeing the young man merely checking the patriarch’s pulse, Samuel was certain this youth knew nothing.
What could he possibly determine from checking a pulse? Cancer had nothing to do with blood pressure!
Let alone mastering divine methods, Marc didn’t even seem to grasp basic medical knowledge.
“You think you can fool me with such cheap tricks? How naïve! Only fools trust other fools!”
Meanwhile, Cora, growing increasingly furious, signaled Violet with a nod to speak to Samuel. Violet nodded back and quickly approached the doctor.
“Dr. Dixon, I strongly object to anyone touching my grandfather while he’s in pain. Shouldn’t we just throw him out?”
“Don’t worry! He can’t do anything to Mr. Richmond,” Samuel declared confidently. “But tell me, haven’t you noticed?”
“Noticed what?” Violet frowned, her porcelain-smooth brow creasing.
“Look at what he’s doing. It’s not even close to standard medical procedures.” Samuel shook his head with a look of disdain.
“He’s either after money or revenge. I’ve heard plenty about fraud healers who use strange and nonsensical methods to scam or harm their patients through negligence. I never thought I’d see one here.”
Hearing this made Violet’s face stiffen. “You’re right, Dr. Dixon. I almost didn’t realize his motives. What should I do now?”
“Call the police. Once your bodyguards crush this idiot’s body, charge him with intentional malpractice. That’s equivalent to premeditated murder, and the penalty is life imprisonment.”
In other words, after Marc was rendered paralyzed, he would spend the rest of his life behind bars.
A thin smile graced Violet’s lips. She hadn’t expected the seemingly wise old doctor to suggest such an unexpected idea.
“Dr. Dixon, my mother and I would never have realized this without you. What should I do next?”
“Record everything he does. That will serve as solid evidence for the police.”
Violet nodded respectfully and approached Cora, whispering something in her ear.
“What a brilliant idea! It seems bringing this parasite into our home wasn’t a waste after all!” The older woman’s eyes sparkled with delight.
She had long been plotting to drive Marc out of the house. Unexpectedly, her wish might finally come true today.
Following Samuel’s instructions, Violet discreetly took out her phone and aimed it at Marc.
Meanwhile, Marc, his gaze never wavering from Wesley, shook his head slowly with a sardonic smile. “How naïve.”
In addition to his vast medical knowledge, the zhenqi coursing through his body allowed him to hear even the faintest sounds.
He could clearly hear their plans. Even so, he couldn’t be bothered to care.
As Samuel had said, wasn’t it only fools who trusted other fools?
While holding Wesley’s wrist, Marc’s expression turned intensely serious.
To the untrained eye, it might seem like he was doing something trivial and useless. But in reality, it was far from that.
Through his fingertips, Marc channeled zhenqi into Wesley’s lungs.
The zhenqi flowed like a gentle current of electricity, attacking diseased cells and burning them away.
Such a capability, without a doubt, surpassed even the most advanced medical equipment. Yet Marc had to proceed with extreme caution. Any mistake could worsen the old man’s condition.
Five minutes passed, and Wesley’s face suddenly turned deathly pale. At the same time, everyone could see through his unbuttoned shirt that the patriarch’s chest had grown dark red. Gradually, the discoloration spread across his body.
“Violet, do you see that?” Cora couldn’t hide her alarm. “This fool is dangerous. He’s using black magic!”
But Violet, fully trusting Samuel’s words, merely smiled. To her, Marc’s actions were nothing but a parlor trick. By doing so, this fool intended to make everyone believe Wesley’s condition was critical and that he had miraculously cured him.
“Mom, don’t worry. This is actually perfect.”
Violet had recorded everything. What was unfolding before her would serve as irrefutable evidence of just how dangerous Marc’s methods were.
Two minutes later, Wesley’s body tensed. Moments after, a thick, dark red liquid with a foul, charred smell erupted from his mouth.
Marc released Wesley’s wrist and rose from the bedside. “The cancer cells have been eradicated. In a few days, he should recover fully.”
Marc stepped toward the door, ready to leave the room. He had no intention of staying longer than necessary. After everything that had happened, he would be more than happy to leave the manor.
But Samuel’s voice stopped him.
“You think you can just walk away after the brutal act you committed against Mr. Richmond?” With a sneer, Samuel placed his hand on Marc’s shoulder.
“We’ve recorded all your dirty tricks. After crippling you, I’ll make you spend the rest of your life in prison!"

Chapter 334 - Skarleta's Wrath
Skarleta clearly had no intention of holding back anymore. The envoy from the Velkyn Kingdom had done nothing but scream in pain, shielding his face instead of offering a single word of apology. That was all the confirmation she needed to escalate things.“You insolent wretch! You’d rather keep that filthy mouth shut than apologize to me? Fine!”Bang! The moment she finished speaking, her fist rocketed forward and slammed into the envoy’s face. His body was hurled backward, flying several dozen feet before crashing into the far wall of the hall with a resounding thud.Thud!“Skarleta, what do you think you're doing?!”Grizelda’s shout cut through the tense air. She had been frozen in shock until that moment, but the goblin girl’s outburst snapped her back to her senses. She couldn’t stay silent any longer. Things were spiraling out of control.“Get a grip, you foolish child! What were you thinking, attacking a royal envoy from Velkyn?!”At the same time, Kragnir rushed toward Skarleta
Chapter 333 - Skarleta Has Lost Her Patience
“You’re nothing here! If I wanted you dead, you'd already be dead!”Those words hit like lightning, striking everyone who heard them. The envoy’s face twisted with fury.“Skarleta!”He no longer bothered to call her Queen.“How dare you speak that way to a Velkyn envoy like me?!”He shouted back with equal force. To him, such insolence wasn't just a personal insult—it was a direct attack on the honor of the Velkyn Kingdom itself.“Kneel and apologize now, or you'll regret it!”The envoy threatened her outright. But instead of backing down, his words only pushed Skarleta over the edge.“You insolent bastard!”Skarleta rose from her throne, her patience snapped like a brittle twig. His arrogance had crossed the line—and she wouldn’t let it slide.“Apologize?” she snarled. “That’s the last thing I’d ever do!”In a flash, she vanished from her seat and reappeared right in front of the envoy.“You should be the one begging me for forgiveness, you idiot!”SLAP!Without a second thought, her
Chapter 332 - Skarleta’s Reception
“What?”Grizelda, Thorga, and Kragnir all turned to look at Skarleta at the same time.“She’s still that calm?”Their surprise was understandable. After all, just like them, every time Skarleta heard the name Velkyn, she would usually look like she’d seen a ghost—paralyzed with fear, like the name itself carried the weight of divine judgment. Not just when the name of King Kael of Velkyn was mentioned—even just the sight of one of his envoys was enough to send shivers down their spines. But today, none of that fear showed on Skarleta’s face.It was as if the terror she used to feel had completely vanished from her heart. And that left the three goblin leaders deeply unsettled. What in the world had changed in this young woman? What was going through her mind?“Hah. Still putting on that calm act, are you?” Grizelda scoffed, clearly not buying it. She figured Skarleta was just faking it—putting on a show to mask her fear and appear cool in front of everyone.“Keep playing tough all you
Chapter 331 - The Envoy from Velkyn (Part 2)
“I know that,”Thorga said calmly, trying to soothe his cousin.“But Skarleta has never broken a promise. She gave her word she’d be here before noon. I’m sure we can wait just a little longer.”“It’s already been too long.”Kragnir stood abruptly, his patience clearly worn thin.He didn’t usually challenge Thorga’s reasoning, but this time was different. The stakes were too high to gamble with—especially letting King Kael’s envoy leave with that letter still undelivered.“I don’t want Velkyn marching on our doorstep over a simple misunderstanding. We need to act. We’re going to Walenstein to bring Skarleta back—now.”He was just about to storm out of the grand hall to fetch Skarleta himself when the heavy palace doors creaked open. There, striding in with regal poise, was a young goblin woman in her early twenties—stunningly beautiful, dressed in an opulent gown fit for a queen. Her confident steps echoed through the hall, and a teasing smile danced on her lips.“Thanks for waiting.
Chapter 330 - An Envoy from Velkyn
Stretching hundreds of kilometers south of Lanshire lies a vast island known as Kalidor. But just a few dozen kilometers off the coast of the Brynmor province sits a much smaller island—lush and green when viewed from above. This is Morven, birthplace of the goblins of the Morven bloodline. At the heart of this island stands a grand castle, encircled by five-meter-high stone walls and guarded round the clock by armored sentinels who take shifts without rest.Inside the castle’s council hall, three goblins dressed in regal attire sat in their respective chairs, their expressions tight with tension.“This is incredibly late. Far too late.”A striking goblin woman in her forties, clad in an opulent violet gown, kept casting anxious glances toward the towering three-meter-high doors. Her hand trembled slightly as she clutched a glass of wine—an unmistakable sign of unease. She looked every bit like someone waiting for an arrival long overdue. Her name was Grizelda, the ruling goblin of th
Chapter 329 - The Energy Vortex (Part 2)
As he stepped into the swirling vortex of aura, the Grand Marquis showed no signs of pain. His body was fortified with an immense reserve of pure inner energy—enough to resist the violent force radiating from the vortex.“Marc, hold on!”Frantically, Elliot checked the young man’s neck and wrist for a pulse. Nothing. Not even the faintest beat.Still, he didn’t panic. Without hesitation, he pressed both palms against Marc’s chest and channeled his inner energy into him. That’s when he noticed something strange—Marc’s right hand, which had previously been scorched, was now completely healed.“Am I seeing this right?” he wondered. “The medicine must’ve worked, didn’t it?”But even after nearly ten minutes of channeling energy into Marc’s body, there was still no sign of a heartbeat. His face was pale, his body ice-cold.“No! This can’t be happening! Marc has to live!”Panic crept into the Grand Marquis’s heart. He didn’t realize how fiercely he was exerting his energy—his palms now radi
