Instead of calming the master, Marc's words only made Dorje cry even harder, burying his face once more into the floor. His words seemed to deepen the regret weighing on Dorje’s heart.

Seeing this, Marc let out a long sigh. He and everyone present finally understood just how profound the master’s sorrow was.

"Master, I think you should start the ceremony now." Marc approached one of the senior monks and spoke respectfully. "It looks like he needs more time," he added, glancing at Dorje.

"Thank you, sir." The monk bowed his head slightly, his demeanor toward Marc now filled with respect. Any suspicion or condescension he had felt toward the young man had completely vanished.

Like Dorje, Marc now held an important position in his eyes. It wasn’t just him—every monk and every person present shared the same sentiment. The way they viewed Marc had completely changed.

"I will lead everyone in beginning the ceremony."

As the gathering stood and moved toward the courtyard, a sixteen-year-old

"Hehe." The teenager gave a wry smile, scratching the back of his head. Even though Marc's gaze was neutral, he felt as if the man before him had just caught him red-handed doing something wrong."I know you've sneaked out of this monastery with Harper without a master's permission, haven't you?" Marc looked at the teenager as if he knew all his secrets."Sir, forgive me." The smile on the teenager's face gradually turned into an anxious expression. Looking to his left and right to make sure no one else was around, he continued, "I only did it once. I swear. I never did it again after that."The teenager was a new student at the monastery. According to the monastery's rules, for the first three years, a student was not allowed to leave unless accompanied by a supervising master. However, not only had this teenager left without permission, but he had also gone with Harper—who had now officially become an enemy of the monastery. If one of the monks were to find out about his actions, no

A few minutes later, the two of them arrived at the entrance of the village."There, that's the place where Miss Morgan once took me." Yangdon pointed to a fairly large fruit shop not far from where they stood. "She asked me to help her carry some baskets of fruit."When they reached the store, a woman in her late thirties immediately recognized the teenager. "Ah, Yangdon! I've been waiting for you! Come in, I have plenty of fresh fruit for you! Miss Morgan will be delighted!""Sorry, Auntie, I'm not here to buy fruit today. I came with Mr. Marc Belmont," Yangdon politely gestured toward Marc, who stood beside him."Ah, such a handsome young man! I know exactly what kind of fruit you like! Tell me, you're here looking for that fruit, aren't you?" As she spoke, her expression became unmistakably playful, especially when she emphasized the word "fruit.""Auntie, he's not that kind of man." While Marc gave a faint, amused smile without saying anything, Yangdon shook his head with a serio

"Marc, wait a moment!" Yangdon stopped in his tracks and placed his hand in front of Marc, blocking his way just as they stepped out of the fruit shop."I remember now! That looks like the car Miss Morgan rode in!" Yangdon exclaimed, pointing ahead.Following the teenager’s finger, Marc spotted a sedan—an extremely old one, to be precise—with a faded ivory-white color. Leaning against the vehicle was a man wearing polished loafers, white trousers, and a brightly patterned shirt tucked into his pants. With sunglasses perched on his face, he looked like the owner of the car."Are you sure?" Marc asked, his gaze remaining fixed on the man."Yes, I'm absolutely sure. Miss Morgan got into that beat-up car after handing me all the fruit we bought."Without another word, Marc walked toward the sedan, Yangdon keeping pace beside him."Can you take me to this address?" Marc handed over a business card he had just received from the fruit vendor.Lifting his sunglasses onto his head, the man cas

"I knew it! Harper couldn't have done it alone!" Marc thought, nodding lightly. Now, all the questions in his mind had been answered.Yangdon might not have seen or known the face behind the mask. "But whoever they are, they must also be a member of the Dark Star Sect!""Little brother, I think I should get going now. Look, the driver is starting to look impatient," Marc said, pointing at the man who had stuck his head out of the car window, gesturing irritably at Marc."Remember what I said—keep training, okay?" With those words, Marc patted Yangdon on the shoulder before turning to leave."Will you come visit us again?" the teenager asked."Of course," Marc replied, turning his head slightly before adding, "When I have some free time."At that moment, for some reason, as he watched Marc's back moving away, Yangdon's eyes suddenly welled up. His heart ached, as if something important was slipping away from his life. Even though their meeting had been brief, it had left a deep impress

Three hours had passed since the old sedan entered the dense forest. As night began to fall, only the occasional vehicle passed by, whether traveling in the same direction or coming from the opposite lane."Hah, damn it! This brat is sleeping so soundly!" the driver grumbled, glancing at the rearview mirror and seeing Marc slumped in his seat, fast asleep."Could it be that my stories and threats weren’t convincing enough?" he muttered to himself, deep in thought."Whatever, maybe today just isn’t my lucky day," he sighed. "But if he doesn’t hand over that five hundred dollars later, he’ll see what Wangyal is like when he’s angry!"Just as the driver was starting to calm himself down, he suddenly noticed three men standing in the middle of the road ahead, staring directly at his car.Beep-beep!Honking his horn, Wangyal couldn't believe what he was seeing."What the hell are these guys doing?" he cursed, slowing the sedan down. But as if ignoring him completely, the three men remained

"Boss, there’s nothing inside, just this." A long-haired man handed over two one-hundred-dollar bills he had taken from Wangyal’s pocket."Are you sure?" Frowning, the boss was surprised—how could a well-dressed man like the driver not be carrying any money? But when he glanced inside the car, it was exactly as his subordinate had said. The interior of the sedan was a wreck, more like a junk heap than a functioning vehicle. At first, the boss had assumed the driver was a rich man in disguise, using an old car to conceal his identity. He had thought so because, in all his years as a carjacker, this was by far the worst-looking sedan he had ever seen."There's nothing, boss." The man nodded. "This guy’s a total deadbeat," he said, pointing at Wangyal."Damn! So you really are broke!" the boss scoffed in disgust."Get lost! Since you don’t have any money, I’ll just take this car!" the boss shouted, kicking Wangyal aside. He then leaned into the car to grab the keys. That was when his gaz

A loud thud echoed as the burly man’s body crashed to the ground. Instead of landing a punch, the young man had already planted a kick into his stomach."You little brat!" Refusing to admit defeat, the burly man quickly got back on his feet, ignoring the pain in his abdomen. "You hit me once, I’ll return it a hundredfold!"Like a wounded bull, he charged at Marc. But before he could even touch Marc’s clothes, another kick struck him square in the chest.Bang! The burly man was sent flying backward before slamming into the ground once again."Don’t be stubborn. You still have plenty of time to regret your actions," Marc said. He hadn’t used his inner strength at all in these attacks, nor had he even exerted ten percent of his physical power."Arrogant little brat! You’ll keep running your mouth until I crush you! Kneel before him immediately!""B-but, boss...""Why do you always complain? Just kneel already! He’s going to give us jobs!"What?Hearing those last words, the men didn’t hesitate any further. Throwing aside their toy guns, they knelt before Marc. "Greetings, young master.""Put on your clothes and clean yourselves up. His expression remained cold, unmoved. He stepped down from the podium and slowly walked toward the mayor, who lay sprawled on the ground, trembling."You still have the nerve to say that now?"Elliot’s tone stayed level, but the restrained fury behind his voice was impossible to miss."Where was all this remorse a year ago? Didn’t I make it clear that this punishment should’ve been carried out back then? You had your chance. I gave you time. So why didn’t you take it?"His words sliced through the silence like a blade. "Grizelda, what are you talking about?"The man, Elliot, fired back with a puzzled look on his face. His tone was laced with disbelief, like her accusation had come out of nowhere."Open your eyes—and your mind. You're making baseless claims. And really, how could you forget something so important?"His expression hardened as he locked eyes with her. Whatever this was, Elliot wasn’t treating it lightly."Let me remind you of the blood pact we made: no human is allowed to cross the Pennigor Mountains without permission. Anyone who does... dies."The Pennigor Mountains stretched across the southern edge of Cammont County, separating it from the massive Eldrador Forest. Since Cammont was the southernmost region of Walenstein Province, the mountains also served as a border to Brynmor, the neighboring province. But truth be told, most people in Walenstein didn’t even consider Eldrador—or Brynmor for that matter—part of the Lanshire Kingdom. Why? Because the people there acted more like bea

"You keep going on and on about revenge—like I owe you something for those goblins—without even thinking about what they did to the human race."Marc's voice echoed from inside the inn’s lobby, each word growing louder as he stepped closer to Grizelda."Don’t you get it? By standing up for them, you're just as guilty as the ones who tore this place apart. You're not some noble leader—you’re just another monster hiding behind a cause!"As he spat out the last word, Marc stepped fully into view through the shattered remains of the lobby’s doorway.Blood trickled from the corners of his mouth, and his right arm hung limply at his side, a faint wisp of smoke still curling from it. No need for a closer look—anyone could see his arm was badly damaged. His shallow, ragged breathing and the pain etched across his face hinted at deeper internal injuries. Still, the fire in his eyes never faded. There was no fear in them, no sign of surrender—just raw, unshakable resolve."So go on. Do it. Hit

Rising from the ground, a dark aura surged around Grizelda’s body—thick, ominous, and freezing cold. It didn’t just look dangerous. The air around her turned icy, as if the very atmosphere might shatter from the chill she exhaled.“We goblins never lie,” she said coldly. “And we don’t tolerate lies from others.”The moment she spoke, she vanished—only to reappear instantly, right in front of Marc.“You really are a snake,” she hissed. “You slaughtered my people, and now you have the audacity to trick me? You’re going to die for that.”Her hand shot forward—straight for his throat.Marc’s eyes went wide. What the hell? he thought, heart racing. Why’s she accusing me of playing dirty?Just minutes ago, Grizelda had made it very clear—he could attack from any direction, using any method. That had been the deal. So why flip out now, just because he used a vanish-strike technique? But Marc didn’t have time to argue. The aura coming off her hand alone made it clear—this wasn’t just some fla

"I know exactly what you're trying to do. You're just playing games with me, aren't you?"Marc scoffed at Grizelda.Even if she let him hit her a hundred times, it wouldn't matter. She was simply too strong. And Marc was running out of ideas."You're talking too much," Grizelda said coldly, flashing a wide, confident grin. Whether Marc landed a hit or not, she didn’t care. She was already convinced he wouldn’t even come close."Go on. Try. Hit me again. Don’t waste my time."Marc didn’t reply. His eyes locked onto hers, mind racing. This isn’t as simple as I thought...He had two shots left—two chances to strike without being countered. He had to make them count."Alright... let’s do this," he muttered.Taking a deep breath, Marc made a bold decision. He tapped into the pure energy within his dantian—a force far more potent than regular cultivation energy. But it came with a price. It would drain him fast, and if he got hurt while using it, recovery would take very long.Still, he had

  • Chapter 261 - Three Strikes

"You can read my mind?"Marc narrowed his eyes, staring at Grizelda with a mix of shock and curiosity. He didn’t move his lips—just sent the question straight from his thoughts, trying to confirm his growing suspicion: could this goblin leader really hear what he was thinking? You can talk back to me like this too?Grizelda mirrored his expression, surprised herself. She’d always been able to reach into others’ thoughts—but never had she met someone who could respond to her telepathically. That changed how she saw Marc."Telepathy like this? Piece of cake," Marc replied casually, still speaking with his mind. "But let’s be real—you wouldn’t be able to do it if I didn’t let you in, right?"He wasn’t wrong. Grizelda could hear his thoughts only because he hadn't raised his mental barriers. If he had, she wouldn’t be able to break through, no matter how strong her abilities were."You're right. My power can’t penetrate your mind unless you allow it. But as long as you keep the door open,

  • Chapter 260 - Opening Strike

Grizelda. The goblin leader of the northern territories. At first glance, there was nothing impressive about her—unless you counted the tattered medieval noblewoman’s dress clinging to her bony frame. It was stained, torn, and filthy. Her short, frail body looked like it had been through hell. Her face and hands were scarred and blistered, like someone who had barely crawled out of a fire alive. To most, she looked exactly like what you’d expect from a goblin—grotesque and terrifying. But that impression flipped completely the moment she entered combat. The moment she unleashed her true power.Whoosh!A blast of wind ripped through the air as Grizelda’s small, shriveled fist shot forward like a bullet. Her hand, leathery and lined with age, was wrapped in a chilling black aura—one that radiated both overwhelming force and a bone-deep cold. The surrounding goblins roared in twisted delight as their leader stepped onto the battlefield. But their joy didn’t last long. The moment she bega

“You damn goblins think you can just waltz into my territory? You’re all walking to your deaths!”Marc’s roar thundered across the frontyard.Standing about a hundred meters outside the inn’s perimeter, he slammed his foot into the ground and launched himself into the sky. Power surged into his fists, energy crackling around them like a storm ready to break loose. At the peak of his leap—roughly a hundred meters high—he flipped midair and dove straight down, both fists leading the charge like twin meteors aimed at the swarm of ten thousand goblins below.BOOM!The earth quaked as his fists hit the ground. A deafening explosion followed, shaking the night and splitting the silence like a bomb going off.Hundreds of goblins died instantly, crushed or vaporized in the first impact. But the destruction didn’t stop there.A powerful shockwave erupted from the point of impact, blasting outward in a vicious burst of wind that hurled even more goblins into the air like ragdolls.Roar! • Chapter 258 - A Different Level of Power

Marc didn’t say a word. His brows furrowed, deep in thought.Leah’s question had clearly shaken something loose in his mind.“She’s right… This doesn’t add up. Ordinary goblins shouldn’t be able to break through the magical seal I set up, right?”That thought echoed loudly in his head.Just like he told Leonie before he left for Asheville, the lobby was supposed to be secure—no matter how many goblins tried to breach it. The magic barrier he installed wasn’t just powerful—it was foolproof against anything below level 5 cultivation. And up until now, not a single goblin he’d encountered had shown power anywhere close to that. They’d all been weaker—far weaker.Even if a hundred or a thousand of them attacked the barrier at once, it shouldn’t have mattered. So if one of them—or something else entirely—actually managed to shatter his seal…There was only one possible explanation.“Could its power really be that high?”Marc felt a knot form in his stomach as that realization hit him.
