Despite the chaos that had occurred late last night, the schedule could not wait.

The store still had to open this morning.

After dropping the store manager off at his home, Jeremy didn’t rest for long. He drove back to his small apartment as the sky slowly began to change color, deep blue gradually fading into pale gray.

As soon as he arrived, he allowed himself only a short amount of time. He cleaned up, took a quick shower to wash away the lingering tension of the night, then changed into the work clothes he had prepared the day before. A neat shirt, clean shoes, a watch fastened around his wrist.

Breakfast was simple, just toast and black coffee.

Enough to refuel.

After that, Jeremy headed to the retail store.

When he arrived, the atmosphere in front of the store was already different from previous days. Several longtime employees had come earlier than scheduled, their faces full of excitement, some unable to hide their broad smiles. Today was the reopening day, something they had

Jeremy and Lucas were finally taken to the hotel’s security room. The room was not large, plain walls, a single long table, several chairs, and a CCTV camera in the upper corner that remained steadily on. Three security guards stood watch: one near the door, the other two positioned a little farther away but staying alert. The atmosphere was tense.Jeremy sat with his back straight, his suit jacket already removed and neatly folded beside his chair. The bruise on his jaw was becoming obvious, yet his expression remained calm, as if the fight earlier had been nothing more than a minor disturbance.Lucas sat across the table, his breathing not yet fully steady. His shirt collar was rumpled, his face flushed, and his eyes still held unextinguished anger. The hotel’s security manager spoke in a professional, cool, emotionless tone.“This is a public area. What happened earlier could be reported to the authorities. However, if both parties agree to resolve this peacefully, we can handle it

Jeremy glanced at Lucas with a look that hovered somewhere between disbelief and quiet astonishment. When he thought about it calmly, the pieces began to fall into place. The way Lucas questioned him, the tone of his voice, the fixation on the so-called “new intern” all of it pointed to a single goal.Lucas was hunting for the mind behind the retail store’s rebranding. The only problem was that Lucas still didn’t know who that person was. And clearly, he had never once imagined that the person he was looking for was standing right in front of him.Jeremy held back a faint smile that almost surfaced. He answered casually, as if the topic meant nothing at all.“No,” he said shortly.Lucas sneered.“No?” he repeated, clearly unconvinced. “Come on, Jeremy. Don’t play mysterious. Hasn’t your store been declining for a long time? Getting worse year by year? Don’t tell me you never thought about making changes.”He leaned in slightly. “Or don’t tell me you’re here for the same reason I am, l

The night of the celebration finally arrived. The main restaurant at Guava Hotel was bathed in warm light and an elegant atmosphere. Crystal chandeliers cast soft reflections over neatly arranged tables, while waitstaff moved back and forth with calm, professional steps. In a corner of the restaurant lobby, Lucas stood with his hands tucked into the pockets of his suit jacket. His expression appeared calm on the surface, but the tight line of his jaw made it clear that he was in a foul mood.“Is the information accurate?” he asked coldly, without turning around. The assistant standing half a step behind him nodded immediately.“Yes, boss. I got it directly from an insider. The celebration dinner for the retail store’s rebranding is indeed being held tonight. People from headquarters will be attending as well.”Lucas clicked his tongue softly. This time, his expression was different from usual. There was none of the arrogant smile he often wore, nor the openly disdainful gaze. Yet he

After the evaluation meeting ended, the participants rose from their seats one by one. The sound of chairs scraping against the floor, footsteps, and light conversations filled the room for a moment before gradually fading.“Jeremy,” Mr. Keller’s voice rang out, calm yet firm. “Please stay for a moment.”Jeremy paused. He gave a brief nod and sat back down as the others filed out of the meeting room one by one. Before long, only the two of them remained.Mr. Keller closed the folder in front of him and leaned back slightly. His expression was not stiff, on the contrary, he looked rather relaxed.Without any small talk, he went straight to the point. “We’re planning to hold a celebratory dinner two days from now. To mark the success of this retail store’s rebranding.”Jeremy fell silent for a moment. He wasn’t surprised, something like this was actually quite common, but he still felt a trace of uncertainty. So he answered modestly, “Thank you, sir, but in my opinion, it’s still too ea

The first three days after the store’s reopening far exceeded expectations.Customer traffic was dense from morning until night. The cash registers were almost never idle, and the daily sales reports kept breaking numbers that had previously existed only as optimistic projections on paper. The opening discounts were indeed the initial trigger, but what truly surprised management was the customers’ purchasing behavior, steady and consistent, not merely impulsive spending followed by a quick exit. The profit generated in those three days was substantial. Enough to cover part of the old losses and rebuild internal confidence in the rebranding decision. As the fourth day arrived, some observers from rival retail stores began to whisper.“Usually, once the discounts end, the number of visitors drops drastically.”“It’ll probably only be crowded at the beginning, like before, then decline afterward. Even if it makes a profit, it won’t last long.”They waited for the moment when the exciteme

The next day, Noah arrived at the retail store just before noon. He paused for a moment in front of the entrance, looking up at the two-story building that now seemed far more lively than his memory of similar stores. The promotional banners were still neatly in place, the store mascot greeted customers with cheerful movements, and the flow of people going in and out showed no sign of slowing down.“Wow… it’s seriously crowded,” Noah muttered under his breath, without realizing it.As soon as he stepped inside, several employees immediately recognized him, or at least recognized his face from a screen. Some glanced at him discreetly, others whispered among themselves, clearly curious. But before the attention could grow any further, Jeremy appeared from deeper inside the store.“You’re right on time,” Jeremy said briefly.“Don’t hear praise from Mr. Jeremy very often,” Noah replied casually.Jeremy merely let out a small snort and motioned for Noah to follow him. The two went up to th
